Usually I don't leave reviews, but this is just irritating I've sold stuff here before and was given a decent amount of money for my stuff. Recently I went back with two bags full of clothes of stuff they were asking for. They only took 7 things and only gave me $28, one of those 7 things was a brand new Champion hoodie along with things from pink. They said they're looking for back to school stuff like short sleeves and tank tops, but going through the stuff when I got home there's 5 tank tops from Tillys in good shape, summer dresses from Forever 21, Vans T-shirt's, and a couple of tops from Pacsun They didn't take any of those which I think fits under the back to school category but they did take a Champion hoodie and a pink long sleeve with a skeleton on it. Not gunna lie, this location has literally THE worst selection of used clothes I have EVER collectively seen at a store like this. I was stunned. The quality of pieces they choose to sell is really really bad. Most of the pieces were extremely worn looking, faded, discolored, had holes, extreme amount of pilling. The shoes were the same. Just not what I'd considered "gently used". These pieces were ROUGH & I mean rough. After the first 3 racks browsing I was pretty much done. Not a place for me. To add insult to injury their prices on most of the items were high. They really need to up their game & scrutinize the items they are buying. GREAT place to buy, not so much sell. I do understand that they have specific guidelines and the concept is wonderful, however I'm just confused as to who actually gets rid of clothing that's still so currently up to date? Maybe the regular compulsive shopper or a bitter ex-significant other, but definitely not everyone. I had so many pairs of Hollister and Levi's jeans and Hollister hoodies from back in the day when I worked for Abercrombie. I think they only took a never worn pair of nude pumps and maybe a couple of tops. One of my dresses was also given back to me covered in dark dust and smudges. Weird for only being hand sorted. Regardless of their strict buy back guidelines, it's still a great place to shop. The ladies were extremely friendly and looked genuinely happy to be there. I'm all set for fall thanks to this store. Not a very welcoming environment. The staff never says hello let alone acknowledge that you came into the store. The mens clothing are mundane at best. You can easily find all the men's clothing at a fraction of the cost at decent thrift stores. Back to Urban Exchange Temecula I go! Will never shop here again. I've spent a considerable amount of money here since this store has been opened. I bought a few hundred dollars worth of clothes but two pairs of shorts didn't fit right and I lost the receipt. Tags still on the merchandise and tried to exchange, NOT RETURN, exchange and the clerk told me that I could sell the shorts back to them for way less than I paid, but they would not even give me an exchange - EVEN if the record of the sale was on my electronic account in their computer system, which it was! they needed the physical receipt. Myself and my three shopaholic daughters will never walk in this door again. How ridiculous and inconvenient! read more

Just came in here to pick up my clothes they didn't want and the staff at the register was a fucking bitch. So key of advice to the girl with long blonde hair with a nose ring working on Jan. 22 around 430, you're in a customer service industry. That means you have to actually provide customer service and not just tossing my stuff at me and speaking rude to the customer. I really hope you learn this before it's to late. I traveled from corona to come here and let me tell you it was worth the drive! First thing I noticed was that they greeted me. Unlike other locations the girls are very friendly and attentive here. This location also has a good variety of clothes and accessories. But what really made my shopping experience great was Jenna, she was very helpful and sweet. I brought a bag of clothes/shoes in looking to get a couple extra bucks & came out with $100+. The staff, specifically Hannah, were so helpful and SO KIND! I had never been in here before and I was blown away by their prices. The store was organized & floors were perfectly clean! I'm such a bug about hair on the floor in any store (especially in the dressing rooms) and am happy to say that they do a great job keeping it clear of any mess. I've been to this location and another in Long Beach. This one is by far better. Much more organized, well lit (very advantageous for searching for the perfect fashion pieces), and the employees are very helpful. I will say that the theme as of lately is distressed wear and festival styles. Both of which are not my style choices in clothing. But I still enjoying moseying around because this place is so much more inviting than many other consignment stores throughout SoCal. I will say that I am having trouble selling many of my bodycon pieces. I tried to sell at numerous consignment stores where they all told me that my clothes were "too nice" or "upscale" which aren't popular items for their stores. So if you're interested in some mini skirts, crop tops, and all other clubbing attire HIT ME UP!!! At this rate, I will give them all away for $FREE.99! they deserve a new, clubbing life. If I could give zero stars, I would. I had 22 pair of men's levis. Most, never worn. The maybe, five pair that had been worn only saw "skin" perhaps 2-3 times. Four black pair, one kaki pair and the rest denim blue. I called the day before going in to see if they were in need or excepting Levi's after reading horrible reviews about this store. I called the next day to ensure they were really interested in them before driving the 15 miles to get there and buying a bin to put them in because they wouldn't accept anything other. I was assured they needed them and ESPECIALLY, denim. I made the trek down to have them tell me they only wanted the kaki pair in which they paid a whopping $5 for. They claimed the rest were in perfect condition however, they were overstocked at this time with Levi's and that I could return at a later date down the road. What? read more

Only thing that I didn't like is that I grabbed 3 items and took them to the register and the employee only rung up two and handed me two items. I asked where the other one is and she didn't say anything and totally ignored me, so train your employees to not be rude and to act more professional rather than disrespecting their customers. I am so obsessed with this location! I have never had anyone rude or disrespectful employees. I have not sold back but twice. I am perfectly content buying. My husband is a blue collar business owner. He is not picky. I buy t-shirts long and short sleeve, jeans, and lots of shorts. We always get lucky here. I found a great fringed sweater that has a very Native American look. Vintage dress, Kate Spade purse for $35.00 and so much more! I do agree with another Yelper. If you are a gal of a certain age...well you might not find much. Yes I am over 40 but I find jeans I am going to garden in and t-shirts. I think last year I came twice a month now it is once every 3 months. I time going with sales they have when you sign up to recieve their emails. I have been to other Plato's but this location is well stocked. If I was going to really critical. I found a pair of prescription sunglasses they were selling. That was a bummer. I told the young man at the counter who told the Asst. Mgr. I believe that employee got in trouble. Also shoes sold are really in a bad condition. I like the Palm Desert location for shoes. Haven't sold clothes here in a while, at first this place would take really good consideration of what they would buy from you. After coming in here to sell almost BRAND NEW shoes and clothes especially Nikes worn ONCE they took 2 items for $8... the styles they picked were super basic and I'm honestly shocked considering the items I had.. money they could have made. The "wear and tear" excuse or "not selling well" since when do nikes not sell well? It's like they purposely do not want to survive in this store. I dont have a problem letting young people run the store but what i do have a problem is there attitude. I come in with a small bag of clothes from some of the places my daughter shopps at like pac sun and forever 21 and this young lady gives me a look tells me to wait which i do. Goes thru the bag but doesnt unravel anything to see what it is, basically she looked at me and didnt even bother to look. She said none of what i had was in style but alot of girls wear ripped skater jeans with cool vingate tops. She pulled out one top which was an odd future top, i payed originally 55$ for and she said she would give me 5$ for it . Went in today to sell some stuff with their new Covid policies. I was excited to go in and look. Had two buyers in front and maybe not even five minutes later got a text they were done looking at my stuff. I didn't see it until later as I was browsing but thought wow okay that was fast interesting. Anyways , turns out they didn't want to buy anything which was pretty shocking as I brought stuff I wore maybe once and it's stuff they sell with name brands but didn't really care. Then I got Inside my car to see and literally it was folded exactly how I left it. Just looked like they messed up the first two things on top to make it look like they looked through but there is no way they went through everything that fast and how and why would it be in the exact order I left it and folded exactly like I left it ? Thought it was pretty weird and unprofessional to say the least. They have pretty much all teens "working " there like dressed super casual which is fine but maybe not wear flip flops at work and be a bit more professional actually doing your job. Okay to buy clothes if you are on a tight budget, but please be wary. It's more of a "brand name" or "festival going style" for teenagers place. It makes sense because this is where all the teenagers hang out when they are low on cash. I brought a bag of clothes to sell as well. Nothing was taken! I watched the girl dump the bag upside down, shuffle through the clothing, and toss them back in the bag with disgust. She gave me a card saying that these styles they are looking for. They either need to minimize or lower their prices. I used to love this place when it first opened. The prices were very fair. I'd spend $100+ and I'd get soooo many items at great prices. Now I'm lucky to find even one item thats fairly priced. For example, I spent an hour looking through the overcrowded racks and ended up buying a used hoodie priced $16. That's it, if their prices were fair I would have spent a lot more money. Even the hoodie was overpriced, should have been $10. I attached photos of used pajama pants that were way overpriced to show an example. There are other locations of Plato's closet. Don't waste your time or money here. They have too many times, would take too long to find a good item. read more

Read all of the reviews. Do NOT try to sell here. The girl said it will take 15 minutes and that she'll text me when they are done. We were walking around the store looking at things, tried a few things on but didn't like anything, and even sat outside for a while. It was taking way longer than that and so I went in and saw my bags in a bin and I asked someone if that was done yet and they said yes!!! It was in that bin for a while!! I don't understand why they didn't text me! And they didn't end up buying anything either. I understand they only buy current in style teen clothing, yata yata yata but the customer service can use a lot of work! If you say your going to text someone when your done, do it. If you predict it taking 15 minutes, but it takes a little longer, understandable. But not 45 minutes! Waste of time! For shopping there, I wouldn't recommend it either. Most of the things are worn out, which it's a thrift store, that's understandable, but the prices! Omg! Why? I'd rather buy something new for that price. I sometimes like going to Plato's closet because I like seeing the deals but lately it has gotten really trashy and too pricy. Also the staff are very immature!! Last time I was there they were goofing around trying to get a friend of theirs to buy Chick Fil A while a customer was right in front of them. Also there was a boyfriend of one of the employees following her around while she was trying to do her job. Honestly this place is going down hill. I used to like it but I don't think I'll be shopping here anymore. So annoying , I bring clothes that have tags and name brand and they never take anything . Wait forever for a 17 year old to evaluate and decide on my stuff .
