Wait, how have I not reviewed this place, I really thought I did, how embarrassing! I. LOVE. PLATTDUETSCHE. The first time I went was over the summer 2013. My friend and I ventured out because I heard there was some sort of Bavarian folk fest. We had one of the best nights ever, and neither of us have Germanic ancestry and we still were invited to take part in the revelry. I love when people open their arms wide to you. Plattduetsche may be Long Island's best kept secret. The restaurant looks small from the outside but had rooms big enough for 300+ wedding parties. I went to an event here in the fall 2013 where buffet was served and pushing aside my disdain for buffet food, I tried it. Thank goodness I did because it was really good buffet-styled food. Venture behind the restaurant and you have an outdoor beer garden and their brand new ski-lodge inspired beer hall. The beer hall is my most favorite place ever in our area. It smells like fresh wood, has high ceilings, plenty of sitting space, fantastic German beers (this is the only place I've found that has my beloved Krombacher Dark!) The food served there is different from the restaurant as it is more bar inspired but it is delicious as well. The first time I had the Brat Burger. Pretzel bun, bratwurst, bacon, and some other goodies mixed in for a recipe of pure success. The second time I ate there, I had the frankfurters. I'm not used to eating hot dogs without buns, but I enjoyed these. Especially the saurkraut. Darn good! We chatted with a bartender who informed us they are reworking the menu and going to incorporate some of my faves that I sampled at an event in the fall. Such as the mac and cheese bites. If I were to be on death sentence I'd ask for them as my last meal. That good. The beer hall is open Friday, Saturday, & Sundays. I have been to the establishment to see bands many times before, but tonight was extremely upsetting. I was physically assaulted by a man twice my size who grabbed my throat and threw a beer in my face because I asked him to stop smoking in the establishment. I complained to security twice who told me I should just calm down . when they smoked again my friend asked him to stop& the man told her to F off. After a 3rd time I said something & his girlfriend pushed me & we pushed each other & then the man got in my face. I asked him to step back, he refused so I stepped up on a bench. He then grabbed my throat & threw a beer in my face. Security did nothing except to offer me a free shirt. I said I going to file a complaint& continued to dance & try to have fun& then security asked me to leave when I refused they call the cops on me! read more

They have a really nice outdoor beer garden. It's spacious and have lots of tables. If you come on a right day then they have live band music. Came on a Saturday with a festival going on & had a $10 cover charge. There's some food stalls outside but nothing impressive. They have a wide selection of beers. FYI, Bring lots of cash! Credit card takes forever. They have a bar indoors too with a relatively small dining room. Should def. make reservations if you want to eat inside. The reservation is max 18 ppl. The food offered inside is better & has more selections than outdoors from what I've heard. Order the schnitzel and you can't go wrong. It was delicious! Excellent spot for groups and beer lovers. Of course its great I was married here!!! I have to admit I have not been here in a while. I always went here for Easter and finally decided to get married in the ballroom in 2015. Out of all the outdoor dining/drinking spots I've gone to this summer, Plattduetsche has been the most organized. Had a really good time yesterday. Upon entering, we had our temperatures taken and a hostess walked us to our seating area. She explained the rules and sat us. Each party has their own designated square and all of the staff wore a mask at a minimum and servers were wearing face shields and gloves in as well. There was a really good Allman Bros cover band playing live music and it was just an all around fun atmosphere. We shared some snacks (giant pretzel and a German style poutine with fries, cheese, gravy and sauerbraten. Great place to hang out in the summer and kudos for maintaining a safe fun environment during covid. read more

The best, and biggest Biergarten in Long Island. There is a whole community that calls this place home. Many social clubs use the hall to meet, dance, and practice. The hall is host to many events all year round. There are many bars, and things to do. Check the events schedule online to find out what's going on. The food is good, and authentic. I went here with my friends and for the first time, we went upstairs to have dinner in the dining room. The waitress gave us old menus. When we got the table bill, the amount was far higher than what was expected. We fought with the management and they only reduced the bill by $2. Never again will I eat there nor will my friends. Isn't giving you an outdated menu illegal and expecting us to pay? Three of us ordered the Bavarian sliders (which BTW were not too long ago $14) now $21. The menu said $19. We got billed for $46 and had to leave a tip. These restaurants are putting more and more hidden charges on. Williston's Bar in Williston Park added an additional tip separate from what I wrote on the receipt and said they had a foul up with their system and did not credit it back to me. It's not worth going out to eat anymore. Restaurants are failing and scamming customers. Read the bill closely. they are also adding a 25% gratuity on some of the bills. read more

I finally went here for an event and had a great time! Food, staff, cleanliness was top-notch. Food was served buffet-style and it was better than expected. It was a mix of German and Italian food. The chicken marsala, baked ziti, schnitzel and sauerbraten were ALL fantastic. Great salad and bread. You can tell that the management and staff CARES. Beer was cold, plentiful, and cheerfully served. All employees encountered were genuine, polite and helpful. The main event room was in very good shape and rest rooms were clean. have been to Plattduetsche Park Restaurant many years ago when i attended a sweet 16. Years later the place looks great.. the food was outstanding and i tried for the first time Krombacher Dark and it was great... Usually I prefer Cider beers and fruity wines, but this beer was great!! The staff was very sweet and attentive. Some of my favorite foods i ate are . the macaroni and cheese bites amazing; i loved the pretzel bun with bacon and cheese. the spetzle was great and the red cabbage i need that recipe or something that gets me close to it.. it didnt even taste like cabbage! I learned some great fun facts about the reconstruction and addition to the building how the tables were made from a bowling alley they discovered while building. He mentioned the older men of the club would talk about coming to the place to bowl but never saw any proof... Well they found proof and what a Way to reuse some classic findings. I told the GM Matt that the woodwork reminded me of Oktoberfest up in Hunter Mountain. He said they got their architecture ideas from different places all throughout Germany. We recently hosted a surprise 50th Anniversary party for my in-laws in the beer hall at their Biergarten. Everything about the venue was perfect. The food, the staff, the beer, were all great. They know how to run a perfectly timed party, everything was flawless . We chose the Biergarten over their many private rooms because it has a mix of indoor /outdoor fun relaxed setting that we were looking for. The manager Debbie who booked our party took us through every option and explained everything in great detail. Every follow up question was met with a desire to make our event the best. We had looked at many other venues. Besides from being the best place to host our Party, it was the by far the best value. We will definitely be back for dinner at their restaurant and one of their many hosted events! read more

This biergarten is huge! So much space both inside and out. Odds are there will be live outside too. I noticed a good amount of TVs and a big screen for watching games indoors. I had a bratwurst on a bun with sauerkraut for $7. It was not bad but really I was there for the beer. For a beer hall, the beer selection was good but not amazing. Nonetheless they had all the heavy hitters and I was not starved for choice. One last note - there is a lot of parking. A LOT. Get your DD off the couch and drive over! read more

Ok thats fine. Was the first one in the restaurant got half way thru my meal and the room filled up. My wife says we didnt get checked up on for 20mins after she finished her meal.We grabbed another worker and got out asap.I dont blame out server but they need to do better all helping out. Came here for the first time the other night and had a great experience. We went to the back area where the atmosphere was awesome. Very cool open picnic grounds with a large indoor bar and dinning area. Tons of german beers to choose from for a decent price. Bartenders were very nice and helpful. We had some apps their as well at their outdoor seating area. The german fries were awesome and the goulash soup was just ok. My buddy & I gave it another try a couple of weeks ago and all went fine. So we went again yesterday for food, beer and Jets football. Food and drinks were fine. Table service was fine except for my buddy's entree which seemed to take an hour to arrive. We thought somehow his food was given to another table since later on, a runner started to drop off food at our table and we had finished eating some time earlier. Worst part was on several occasions, the Jets game disappeared and replaced by soccer or other NFL games. The first time it happened, I was able to flag down a crew member who put our game back on one of the closest TVs. But the Jets game kept disappearing. The last time was at the 2 minute warning. The Jets were losing with no hope of winning but that isn't the point. My buddy and I had been there for 3 hours, our check was $150. They have TVs all over the place & they couldn't keep the Jets game on to the conclusion on just 1 of those TVs. They just don't care about their customers. read more

The Platt is a good beer garden with okay food. I like German food (wursts, pretzels, sauerbraten Wiener schnitzel etc) and theirs is good. However people on diets and non meat lovers have trouble finding decent food options. The live music is usually great. The oompha bands can give you a headache. read more

Wow came here to see Mean Machine band and ended dancing all night and noshing on pretzel sliders, brie cheese, and mac n cheese. The music was awesome. This review is not for the restaurant but for the biergarten. You can get german beer and a huge selection of german food, i. e, bratwurst, etc. the high wooden cathedral ceilings were beautiful. Seating is first come first serve on picnic style tables. Wintertime is indoors. Unfortunately because its in residential neighborhood, music stops at 11:00. I had my birthday here with 9 people during COVID. We sat inside (and were charged an extra 3% on the bill for indoor seating). The waitress was attentive. We got a lot of food and beer she brought us everything quickly. We had a really great time!! You just have to wear a mask when you arent at the table. I would recommend this place. read more

This is going to be a long one, just a warning. Wasn't sure whether to give 2 or 3 stars here but I'm giving 3 since the food/drinks weren't an issue at my visit. I decided to come to Plattduetsche for my birthday dinner on Friday night with some friends. I did a ton of research beforehand about covid safety and how they are currently operating and found that the covid precautions were amazing. Temperature checks at the door, screening questions, all servers had masks and face shields. Single-use menus, cups, silverware, and plates. Very safe. However it was the service that was the biggest problem at my visit. When greeted by a security guard, he made rude comments assuming we were underage based on our appearance, and teasing members of my party for being young and coming to this restaurant (I guess the crowd is usually an older demographic?). He looked at my boyfriend and unprovoked, said that he looked about 20 years old and laughed. We're all 22 years old so I understand looking young, but these comments were made more than enough times to make my friends uncomfortable. Example: told my friend who came late "Yeah I figured" when she told him which table she was meeting us at, and when she asked what he meant he said "oh because you're so young" They were harmless comments but he made all of us feel unwelcome. The food and drinks were great. I loved the seasonal pumpkin beer. No complaints there. We did have huge issues with our table service though. We ordered all of our food and drinks at the same time because we were a big party and knew it was busy and could take a little while. They have so many servers outside, and multiple people were coming to our table to check on us but they never came back with the things we asked for. We waited for about an hour and a half with no food (drinks did come on time) and no waitress before we had to physically walk up to her and ask for her to come to our table so that we could order more stuff. The food came while she was taking our second round order. The second round of food/drinks came rather quickly. However, we asked 3 times for napkins and a side of beer cheese for our pretzels and never got them. We also ordered an Apple strudel and never got that either. I assume it was because of the confusion and lack of communication between all the servers outside. Never got charged for either so no big deal, just a small inconvenience. I do recommend this place even though I had a pretty negative experience. The live music was great, the atmosphere is fun. The manager comped 6 of our drinks which was very generous so I really don't have any problems with Plattduetsche, but their outdoor dining system is very disorganized and chaotic. I was under the impression that they had contactless ordering through a QR code on the tables, which would have sped up the process and made it much easier to order as a party of 10 people. So when we got there and were ignored by our server most of the night, it was disappointing. read more

PPR has been on our bucket list for years and Friday evening was our trip into another era...We made a rezzy for the dining room, which we found to be rather small and unadorned considering we were in a German Restaurant. We pulled up in front of the entrance by Hempstead Tpke and used the Valet Parking..a relief as the street was lined with vehicles and self parking would have been a hassel.. We saw the Beer Hall next door as we pulled up to park...two different establishments! Maybe in the summer we would try the Beer Hall. Upon entering there was a large hall bustling with younguns...must have been a party and as we passed we came to the Bar and reception. The dining room is right there and we were seated immediately. Our server was very nice but she was handling several tables so we didnt see much of her...but when we did she came bearing either drinks or food! We ordered a couple of white wines and two large steins of German dark beer...was delish. My BIL and I saw a combo Sausage entre which we got to share as an appy. Also got Giant Pretzel with 3 dips and also a Kaesespaetzle with Bacon and melted cheese...dish was wonderful....We perused the menu and without a doubt the most interesting, and best tasting entre was the Pork Shoulder...large like a Driver and with super crispy skin and tender juicy meat inside!!!! Would def get again.. Girls got Chicken Milanese and Ziguener Schnitzel with Veal and sauce on side..Both good but no competition for the Bayrische Schweinshaxe pork shank we had...You get two sides and I got the Potato Pancakes and Red Cabbage...both were delish and went so well with the Pork. Place has been totally transformed for the better to accommodate customers during this pandemic. Tables are spaced apart, staff are wearing masks, face shields, and gloves. Temperatures are taken upon entry. We felt very safe dining and drinking at Plattduetsche and have returned multiple times during this rough period in our history. The food is wonderful (I've had the schnitzel and multiple types of brats), the beer is awesome and different from what you'd find at a "typical" bar, and the service is friendly and quick. We've had friends who were on the fence about dining out, and after telling them about this restaurant, they were comfortable with coming out to Franklin Square to eat and drink. In the end everyone was so happy to have made the trek to socialize in a safe space. Thank you Plattduetsche for taking this pandemic seriously and keeping everyone safe. Oh! And don't forget they do live music. Nothing like hearing some 90's covers to keep you relaxed and nostalgic for simpler, non-Covid times, lol. read more

Came here with a couple of my lovely co workers to celebrate a early retirement and listen to some rock music all in one. They had a five dollar fee to get inside however they give you a pass to come back within the same week that can be used for food, which was a cool idea. Walking towards the beer garden it was simply beautiful! From the rustic castle house look from the outside with outside sitting as well as upper and lower seating inside as well! My lovely foodie partner and crime ran a bit late to the fun, but we had our table with my co workers. Upon us sitting down the waiter instead of putting us on the same number with my fellow co workers they gave us both a different number for our bill. That didn't bother me so much. We ordered the GIANT 10oz. Pretzel that is imported from Munich, with the beer cheese dip and of course something to guzzle it down an Oktoberfest! Only thing I didn't enjoy was that the waiter was such in a rush saying that he was going home, that instead of giving us another waiter to close the night out with he wanted us to pay our check before we even got our drink or beer so he can go home! Of course me being me, I just did it, but was annoyed cause I still wanted to order more through the night. But didn't let that bother me. Our server bought out our beer which was super cold and delightful! Five minutes later our gigantic pretzel came out! And I must say it was TOTALLY picture worthy! The pretzel itself was super warm and had a nice soft but yet crunchy outer layer! Only complain is that it was SUPER SALTY! I was chizzling the salt off the pretzel. The sweet and salty mustards was super delicious! The sweet mustard cut the salty part of the pretzel down. But the key star I must say was the beer cheese dip! That thing was super delicious! There is the old restaurant proper where one has access to the full menu, and the newer larger beer garden with inside and outside seating with a more limited menu and emphasis on drinks. This is a great place to meet friends for drinks and a quick bite. No credit cards in the beer garden, but a convenient ATM charges $2 and change which is half the usual rate. Helpful professional bartenders even during busy evenings, cool security guards making sure adults play nicely. The bratwurst Wiener Schnitzel, pretzels and beer in tap are the staple in this place with decent German potato salad. I'd skip the Barefoot house wine and stick with what they do best. read more

Ok the beloved bride don't get much. So when we do go out somewhere it is either great or uhoh. We have on occasions visit the Plattdeutsch bier garden for the October fest or fairs and such maybe a 1/2 dozen times over the past 20 odd years - but you know what it was always just her & I sitting down & having a beer & pretzel - but we had a blast the last time by sharing the afternoon w/ family there ... so the moral of the story this is the place to enjoy w/ a group of folks as opposed to an intimate event. - perhaps in the dining room it's a different setting perfectly set for that one on one or a couples setting read more

After a very long recording explaining their current policies I hit 0 to get a live person, I asked if there was music tonight. She said yes 6-9 So we headed over there At the gate we were met by a security guard. He asked us a few questions, took our temperature ask us how many we were going to be. We told him one more was coming. They said when we get to our table we can give our friend the number for when they come They have the picnic tables boxed off. We were told we need to stay with our box. Which was pretty big. Tables are probably more then six feet apart. To get to the table you have to walk down rows ( straight Isles) you can't step foot in other peoples boxes if you can help it The guard at the entrance the person taking us to out table the people took our order brought it out to us all had on face shields, face mask and gloves They had paper menus. Individual wrapped plasticwear. COVID-19 Precautions: 5/5 As you walk up there is a check-in area where we were asked screening questions about our travel and exposure and had our temperatures taken before we were seated. While we were led to our seats we were informed that all guests must wear masks unless they are at their table and all the staff wore masks and gloves. Seating was at picnic tables amply spaced and separated by lines painted on the ground with walkways in between. The menus, silverware, plates, and cups were all disposable to avoid risk of contamination. The bathrooms each had their own attendants who wiped down stalls and sinks after each customer's use. We were very impressed with how thorough the precautions were. Ambiance: 5/5 The outdoor Biergarten was shaded and cool even on a hot summer evening. It was great to have a lively atmosphere with live music (classic rock covers the night we were there) that still felt safe and socially distanced. Food: 5/5 The two of us ordered kaesespaetzle, potato pancakes and schnitzel. The pancakes were crispy and well seasoned without being too greasy. They were even better with the accompanying applesauce and lingonberries. The kaesespaetzle was a large portion for an appetizer and could easily serve as an entree on its own. The blend of cheeses was good and was complemented well by the bacon and carmelized onions mixed in. The schnitzel was well cooked, but make sure to sprinkle it with lemon juice to get the full flavor. If you enjoy German beer, they have a varied selection. Grab a helles and dream of Bavaria. Debbie and all staff at the Plattdeutsche are incredible at what they do. From the moment we first met with Debbie we loved her and were confident booking our reception. She is extremely personable, communicative, detail oriented, honest (which I found so refreshing) and such a sweetheart. Debbie and I hit off off and even though I can be a crazy one she embraced it and was always patient with me and my nuttiness. We did not feel even remotely confident with our previous venue and with her it was instant. She was honest about what she thought was worth upcharges and what not and she was spot on with all her suggestions. She was beyond accommodating with my decor and details I wanted and she understood my vision. Our wedding like any other had hiccups but the Plattdeutsches consistent service outshined them by far. From the staff to the food everything was wonderful. I've never been to a catering event here but it felt like I was with family they treat clients so well. I've also never been for regular evenings so I have never experienced the classic 'little Bavarians' which were DELECTABLE. The food at weddings I feel like is always a hard item but I can honestly say I tried multiple dishes and each was delicious. The amount of compliments were getting on the food is extensive. Our maitre D was such a kind and calming soul I knew my uptight self was in good hands. The servers and bartenders were wonderful, multiple family members told me they were consistently smiling and helpful. I can't begin to express my thanks to Debbie and the staff for executing such a wonderful night that I know was a success because of them. My husband and I cannot wait to have future events here. Attended a private party downstairs in the green room. The room was nice and simple and looked to be renovated recently as did the bathrooms. There is a large tv screen at the front of the room which we had a some issues connecting to. There is no computer or hookup for use so need to bring your own. The Maître D' was very kind and made sure things were running smoothly. There were a few things that I didn't care for. Tables were set at least an hour before the start time, which is fine, however there were pitchers of milk for coffee on the table so they sat for hours. Pitchers of beer were also on the table in advance which lead to warm beer. Dinner plates at the buffet were ice, ice cold. This led to the food becoming cold as soon as it hit the plate. No outside food was allowed, so the cake came from them which was not great. On to the good, drinks were replenished seamlessly. The food was pretty good; the buffet had lots of options including 2 pastas, potato wedges, roasted vegetables, chicken cordon blue, sauerbraten, ribs salad and rolls. The beer was well made and there were multiple types of German brews served so we got to try a bunch of them. All in all we had a lovely time and with a few tweaks it could have been a bit higher rated. read more
