This place is amazing!!! The food, the people, and the ambiance. We dined indoors and they welcomed us with fresh hot rye rolls and butter. The noise level was perfect, no music but it was great because people can converse. If you do want music they do have a live band out back. The food was tasty and extremely filling. The chicken schnitzel was great because it was tender with the perfect crunch. The meal came with a choice of two sides, I chose the red cabbage (amazing) and potato pancakes. Been coming here my whole life. Grew up in Franklin Square and my whole family goes. Just visited again yesterday for a beautiful lunch in the indoor (fancier) dining room. Top of the line German food and service. My mother was married here and my aunt was also married here many years ago. Went to Oktoberfest there since I was a kid. Great live music, great beer, great food, great venue. A wonderful center for everyone in the community. Not only a fun spot to appreciate German heritage, people from all backgrounds come here to enjoy the Biergarten, listen to music, play beer pong and other events. Family friendly and laid back, tons of families with kids here all the time. They have a nice soccer field in the back. Great venue to watch the World Cup on the big screens! Food was excellent but heed this warning, we paid with cash and a credit card, left cash tip. First checked credit card, amount was right, next day checked again and amount had been adjusted $7.00 higher. Called and spoke to manager who said it was a tip. Did not add tip to credit card as we left 20 percent in cash. Was told they would return the amount to me but as of yet, have not received it. Check credit card amounts and make sure if you give a cash tip you draw a line through the tip line so no one can add on to it. read more

We dined at the restaurant after attending the holiday market held on the grounds. The whole complex is HUGE, with a large main building, numerous out buildings in the back, and sports fields. The restaurant is a meat-fest, as you would imagine it would be. The food was filling and welcome in the cold weather. Roasted meats, potatoes, noodles, and cabbage in many formats and varieties. The don't miss: the hulk-sized pretzel and one of the many, many beers all served in their own branded glass. Also, take a gander at the trophies from East Germany in the bar. We recently had our wedding at the beer garden at Plattduetsche. Simply put it was amazing. The decorations were great, the venue was great and most importantly the service was great. I'm giving Plattduetsche Park Restaurant this extremely poor review not based on the food, atmosphere, or beer, but because I never had the opportunity to enjoy any of it. I drove from NJ to Long Island to spend Saturday evening at Plattduetsche Park to enjoy my birthday with 15 of my friends. I'm disappointed to say that the bouncer at the rear of the biergarten denied access to my wife and I because we had out-of-state, NJ licenses. He failed to perform the one job that he was hired to do by denying entry to legal patrons with valid identification. His reason was that your restaurant's ID reader was broken and that he was directed to deny entry to customers with out-of-state licenses. Not only is this absurd, but an outright illegal practice that could be viewed as discriminatory. I plan to never return to this location and nor will any of my friends. read more

Service sucked!!!! We went for brunch and while it was decent food but the service made the experience suck. The omelette station was great. And the buffet had many options such as bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, French toast sticks, rolled pancake, potatoes,chicken cordon bleu, yogurt, mini bagels, muffin and schnitzel. Long time Floral Park German/ Austrian restaurant is divided in two parts. You can dine on wursts and guzzle great German beers in the festive beer hall or have a more formal dinner in the main restaurant. Disappointingly, we opted for the restaurant and they sat us in a dreadful, catering hall looking room with completely bare, plain white walls and white drapes. The tables even had numbered place marks on them like at a wedding hall. Aside from the miserable decor, the food was good. Nicely spiced Hungarian goulash served with large chunks of tender meat. The sauerbraten was tasty as were the sides that went with it. The potato pancakes were terrific. The schnitzel was perfectly crispy and not greasy. Only miss was the Sacher torte. Not like anything I had in Vienna, made much different but still not bad. Service is very friendly and pretty fast. Prices are average as well. I had the absolute WORST experience here on a Saturday night. We arrived to order some beers from the bartender only to find out that it was cash only. Not a big deal Right? So while my girlfriend went to go to the ATM, there was a drunk guy using profanity and yelling across the bar at a lady that looked like Hillary Clinton and that she was this and that. Then he insulted me by asking me how I possibly couldn't afford to pay for two drinks with the amount of money in my wallet and said he would pay for them out of pity......I said sure, went to get my girlfriend and go upstairs. 5 minutes later the bartender followed us up to our party of 15 reservation only to accuse me of trying to steal the drinks. I was embarrassed and appalled to hear the news that the same person who offered to buy me the drinks told the bartender that I went upstairs without paying. Then we gave him a $20 and he said he would return with our change and sure enough, he didn't. You guys owe me $6!!!! Also the food was just decent, standard German food. But for the amount of time you have to wait combined with the very rude and crass bartender made this experience terrible and totally NOT worth our time. Your move..... read more

Plattduetsche is a fun up beat bar. The bartenders are welcoming and pleasant. However, if you come for dinner you will be disappointed. The food is subpar to real German restaurants. Service is terrible. TERRIBLE!!! We had to ask 3 different people to get our waitress so we could order a beer. Why would a restaurant and servers not want to get the people going so they have a good time and spend more money? The bus boys are totally incompetent, not able to read a table when the patrons are finished with there meal. There is one tall dark curly haired kid that could not find his ass with both hands. We waited so long for the table to be cleared we build a tower from the plates. Still bus boys walk past. Finally, another waitress took the plates from us. We wanted to have desserts, especially my kids but because of the long wait we opted to go else where for dessert. Come for the beer and music. All else will disappoint you. read more

Probably the worst German food I've ever had. Spaetzle were from a box, red cabbage was from a jar, sauerkraut was from a bag. Plastic knives couldn't cut through the rubbery schnitzel. Talk about disappointed! Headed to the new beer garden for a night out with some friends. The first time I was here was for the Yelp event in the fall and had a great time. After telling everyone I spoke to what a great place this was I finally had a chance to bring a couple of friends here. Oh well. The night started off well enough. Sat at the bar and had a couple of Spatens with friends. Came time to order food and we were told we had to walk over to the "take out" counter to order our food and then pick it up when it was ready. Look across the bar and everyone is being served by the waitresses. Huh!?! We ask a bartender why we can't have the waitress take our order and are told no more waitress service at the bar. Okay, we roll with it and order. By the time our food is ready three groups across the bar sit down and get waitress service. What? Ask to speak to a manager and he has the nerve to tell us that one group is the family of a bus boy and one group is the family of a waitress. When we point out that we are paying customers and expect to get treated at least as well we are told that's their policy. Next the "managers" manager comes over and basically tells us they're family, you're not - tough. Won't be back here again! BTW - we're mid 40s and were the youngest ones there. It's very large with many different areas and party rooms so I can definitely see the appeal of throwing and event or dinner party here which was precisely the reason for my visit. I attended a children's birthday party in one of the downstairs party rooms. This place is so big they have an elevator. They had the room set up nicely, it looked very classy. All the staff that I encountered were very friendly. The waiters, valet, and servers were all very accommodating and professional. There was a hot buffet of foods pre-selected by the birthday girl's parents. They did a good job of making sure it was well rounded with different types of meats and veggies. While I am not a huge beef eater I found the beef Sauerbraten to be the best thing served. I loved the sauce and you could definitely detect a bit of horseradish in the gravy and that's the way my mom used to make it. The beef was also very tender and broke apart with a gentle nudge from my fork. The spaetzle was very dry and flavorless, they likely had it warming in the pan too long before serving. The lasagna was average but decent. The Miniature chicken cordon bleu balls were tasty. The chicken franchese was nice and creamy but could have used a little flavor boost. I usually eat it at Italian places and they use lots of garlic, salt and lemon. The flavor was much milder here. The salad was also great and had a nice tri-color cherry tomato medley in it. There was also snap peas and mini sausages which looked like bockwurst served but I didn't try any of those but my family members did and said they were okay. The children received their own food which consisted of chicken fingers and fries. My little one couldn't finish it so I helped him out with it and found the chicken to be tasty and crispy and the fries were also good. I probably would have ordered this for myself if I visited again. Overall it was definitely a fun experience and a great turnout for the birthday girl. I would definitely like to come back during the warmer months to experience their outdoor biergarten and enjoy some light bar bites. read more

Definitely was excited to come here. Called earlier in the day to speak to someone about my gluten allergy. The woman was very helpful in listing all the things I can eat. Needless to say, we ubered $40 from glen cove to eat and have a good time. Got there, ordered drinks, told waiter about my allergy and the manager came over and said he was sorry but he couldn't tell me if anything was gluten free because nothing was made there. So basically I couldn't eat anything. I was so angry we ubered back home ($80 total for traveling). Wish they were honest on the phone, will not return. read more

Live bands every weekend, friendly and timely service on top of management making efforts to accommodate. I highly recommend this spot. Holy potato pancakes, people. Went last Saturday and came back 10 pounds heavier. Steak tartare needs a upgraded presentation because it looked like frozen pizza but tasted like YUM. The giant Bavarian pretzel was unnecessary after providing us with a bread basket, but tasty nonetheless. My boyfriend ordered the Rouladen and was tremendously happy that it stacked up well in comparison to his grandmother's recipe... beef was tender and the grilled asparagus was crunchy, but we were a little disappointed to see only one puny little gherkin stuffed inside, alongside carrots and other root veggies, rather than the large sour pickle spear we're used to (big dill pickle joke ::here::). I ordered the Champignon Rahmschnitzel and was in Heaven... two huge veal cutlets breaded and fried, not drowning but nicely sauced with mushrooms and cream. Tender, tasty, so delicious. Potato pancakes on the side were perfectly moist on the inside, crispy on the outside. Dessert was two slices of chocolate raspberry cake (dense and fudgy and delish) with German brandy coffee (asbach rudesheim). A few side-notes: the place was DEAD and while our server was extremely well mannered and knowledgeable about the menu, she was hard to locate for everything from a glass of water to the bill. I know she was probably bored out of her mind and off trying to find something to keep busy, but dinner ended up taking almost an hour longer because of her absence. I've been three times in the last year and each time I left dissatisfied. We ate in the beer garden each time. I love the vibe of the beer hall but the food is subpar and the service is very slow. We had the weiner schnitzel and Bauerentoast. The potato dumplings are so gummy they literally bounce on the plate and are not seasoned at all. They were inedible. Weiner schnitzel not seasoned and so dry. I asked for gravy. It took 25 minutes to arrive and we were charged $2.00 for it. We waited another 20 minutes to get more beer. The restaurant food may be a bit better as I recall but I don't enjoy the atmosphere. I really want to love this place because I love the idea of it but the food is not good at all.
