Didn't eat here so this review is for the atmosphere and beer. Came here in a Friday night. There was a band playing and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I saw people of all ages hanging out and also dancing. This place is big! Nice beer selection. We sat outside for a bit but it was pretty cold out. I love the hanging lights and overall atmosphere inside and outside. I am not reviewing the restaurant but rather the Oompah fest. I can see charging $9 at the gate to keep certain people out however the pretzel price of $9, even though it is big, is ridiculous. It doesn't even taste good. If you are going to charge a huge entry fee the food prices should be lower. A regular burger for $11?? Really? But what do I know?... the place was packed... but there will be one less person there next year.... me. read more

I have been here many times through the years and can't believe that I have not written a review. This is by far the best and most authentic German food you will find in Nassau County. I was in Munich last month and the first weekend I was back home I came here and it did not disappoint. Whether you are eating at the bar or in the dining room you are sure to be served a good meal by a very courteous staff. All the dishes are excellent and if you are dying for an authentic German pretzel this is the place. They actually import them from Germany. I went last week for dinner with a group of friends. I ordered a Pumpkin Beer which was ice cold and had a yummy cinnamon sugar coating on the rim of the glass. I didn't order an appetizer but tasted the pretzel my friend ordered (It was HUGE). It was delicious. I had the Sauerbraten and it was by far the best Sauerbraten I have had in a whie. The potato dumplings and red cabbage were very good as well. Finished up with the Blackout cake for dessert. It was very good but I think I will try the Apple Streudel next time. Ahh just went here this past weekend to celebrate my boyfriends birthday with 20+ friends we had a blast. They have a large variety of beers and there food is awesome especially there huge Pretzels! I had to find a place to throw a 50th surprise party for my Husband... I had well over a 100 people that liked to drink...eat and just hang out... all while keeping him thinking it was something other than a party for him... And booking a party of that size for May in December is apparently next to impossible...who knew...well, the Beer Hall was able to accommodate me for a 5 hour event...a cocktail hour with passed food...a huge buffet...open bar and dessert... my only request was to have everyone eating and drinking the entire time...which was easier done... Christina, the catering manager was really unbelievable...I could really only say what a great day! Everyone raved about the food...the service and overall ambiance of the Beer Hall... and the best part we surprised my Husband to the point being shocked...you add that in and I could not of asked for a better day in a better place! I can't believe I waited this long to try Plattduetsche! Bookmarked this place ages ago and so glad we went here tonight. Fiancé and I didn't have reservations, stopped by the main restaurant and told all tables were full and to try the beer hall. We were seated promptly and the servers were all pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu. We tried the giant soft pretzel, little Bavarians, and the soup of the day (which was a fantastic chili with a little kick). It was more than enough food for the both of us, but we managed to pack in some apple strudel (which I highly recommend). We definitely will be back, there are quite a few other menu items we'd like to try! Prost! read more

Was there for a bridal shower last night. Food was not bad at all especially the dessert. What prompted this review is their valet service - their workers were great. Unfortunately their supervisor Dave was very nasty to my family as we were cleaning up and packing up our items into our cars, even making very racist gestures at times. He refused to even offer us a spot so that we not blocking the flow of traffic. Instead he yelled at us that we 'have to move our car' as he clearly sees us with boxes in our hands. People like him totally ruined my experience at the establishment and feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with a poor excuse of a person. read more

Having been to Germany several times and dining across Deutschland, I feel like I am somewhat of an expert on German food. I can say I enjoyed the food here as much as Zum Stammtisch in Glendale or my far away Bavarian hangouts. The server was great, the veal amazing and the potatoe pancakes leftovers came home with me because I had to try the awesome apple pie dessert. Oh, and of course, the Oktoberfest beir was pretty darn good, too. Nuff said, just check it out for yourself. The Food was Excellent, but our Waitress was Horrible! I had the big pretzel, my fiance had the hot wings, and we both shared the Bavarian sliders-it was all delicious!!! The beer cheese & sweet mustard that came with both the pretzel & sliders was amazing. However, our food & drinks came out at different times, some of our parties' food came out incorrect, and even though my fiance & I were on our own check (separate from the large party we were with), we were still made to pay a mandatory 20% gratuity that our waitress did not deserve. I was done with my pretzel when my fiance's wings finally came out, I had to remind the waitress about the drink I had ordered, she didn't come back to check on us at all & our check was wrong at the end of the night when we finally got it. They tried to charge us twice for 2 orders of wings even though we only had 1...this shouldn't be that hard. I usually sympathize with wait staff because I understand it can be a busy & difficult job, but for me to not want to tip at all means that the service was absolutely ridiculous. The manager did buy the party a round of drinks & dessert, but of course it was after my fiance & I, along with another couple, left. I would give them another try simply because the food was so good, but if we experience bad service again, especially given the distance from where we live, I will never go back. read more

This place is great. They have a great bar with a good selection, lots of different liquors that fit the German theme. The food is also very authentic. The servers do a great job making sure everyone is happy. Good for a night at the bar, or for dinner in the fine dining area. read more

Came here for the World Cup Final and had a great time. Krombacher beer was great! (although $17 for one pitcher I could do without) This place is HUGE and has endless space to walk around and watch a game on their TV's. We had a. 75th Birthday dinner for my husband last night. We were in the Gold room. Vinny was our maitre d'. He did a great job. From booking with Marie, a sweetheart to Debbie who made sure it all came together we had a great night. Food was wonderful and cake was delicious! There was a party next door but if door closed you would never know it. They say room for 40 but that might be tight. Price was better than expected but kids price was a bit high for what they got. Excellent German food. The schnitzels were hanging of the plate. I had the roast pork shank. The skin was crackling crisp on the outside and the meat was fall of the bone inside. it was great. Everyone loved their side dishes. Spatzel, red cabbage, kraut, dumplings, and potato pancakes were great. We happen to go when there was a German festival going on in the Large hall. Ompah bands were playing and everyone was in traditional German garb. The event made us park 3 blocks away. They have a nice large bar to have a drink prior to dinner. They have at least 15 good quality German Beers on tap. The specialty coffees and Black Forest cake for desert were very good. read more

Ok my German friends tell me the kasespatzle is not authentic, but who cares it's delicious. Only beef is they only serve red cabbage as a veggie, how 'bout some greens dudes? Biergarten is awesome! big bar, looks like a giant sports bar, ski lodge, indoor and outdoor seating (weather permits), the food and beer are very good and the portions are adequate. It's hard to impress me with German food, my grandma was first generation from Stuttgart and I loved her cooking. Plus, I've eaten amazing schnitzel in Austria and have clanked beer steins with men in lederhosen at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich. This place delivered on both fronts. My first experience was eating in the outdated, small dining area. My husband gave me the eyes as we walked in and I tried to convince him this was authentic Bavarian decor as we giggled. Then the food came . . . husband was happy with the traditional Wiener schnitzel and sides of dumplings and cabbage salad. I may have sampled his side dishes, who wouldn't?! I chose the Westphalian schnitzel with spaetzle and German potato salad (yes I double carbed it, don't judge!) and all were really, really good. Sure, my almost perfect schnitzel needed a little salt and the sides didn't quite compare to my grandma's home cooking, but it was tasty nostalgia at its best. My second trip was equally as successful, cousin's night out in the beer hall! I felt like I was walking back into a brauhaus in Munich with the wooden decor and cafeteria style tables. They have an authentic beer menu and the Hefeweizen in the big glass steins didn't disappoint. The bar only takes cash so bring some bills. We ordered the ginormous pretzels, little bavarians and potato pancakes, all were amazing. Did I mention that they have live music and the place gets totally packed on a Saturday night?! Get there early to save your spot and enjoy chatting up the friendly bartenders and servers. I'll definitely be back for the food, the beer and trip down memory lane. read more

This review pertains to the new biergarten only. First impression was very favorable. Beer selection and staff were great as was the beautiful timber frame construction...but as time went on the flaws became apparent. The website would lead you to believe that the full menu would be available in the biergarten...not so! The 5 in our party were all set to enjoy the top notch German food we always had in the main building but it was not available in the biergarten...only pub food. Great new space with a balcony overlooking the large bar...but a limited menu...makes no sense! Also, no bathroom facilities upstairs and apparently NO HEAT in any part of this new building! If you are planning on dinner...stick to the main building or bring a coat and order a bratwurst! Hopefully management will see the full potential of this grand new space and make changes...PROST!!! read more

My 1st experience was really great. We went on a saturday night at 7pm with a party of 6 expecting a wait and were seated immediately. One person in the party ordered a liter of beer by accident and they GAVE it to him on the house! Food was terrific-we all tried each others dishes. Mini pretzel with cheese and bacon, goulash soup, brats, beer battered fish and the warm pretzel were awesome. Waitress (marina) was attentive and split up our check 3 ways. $40 per person was a fair price given tip was included on our check and we ate and drank like german royalty. Went here a couple of times to grab drinks with friends in the bier garden. Atmosphere is family friendly as I saw several families with younger kids enjoying themselves. Plenty of space and seating available inside and outside. On both occasions that I went here there was live music. There was a decent selection of about 10-15 German beers on tap including KB Dunkel, Spaten Oktoberfest and more. For those who don't like beer there was a light grapefruit beer that would be refreshing on a hot day. Beer was served in the appropriate glassware and soda was served in plastic cups, but you can request for soda to be put into any type of glassware if you want to fit in with the beer drinkers. Food was served fast food style and included bratwurst, hotdogs, chicken tenders, huge soft pretzel, schnitzel sandwich, and potato pancakes. Overall food was average. Recommend the bratwurst and pancakes. Service was good at both the bar and the food area. Parking is available on the premises or on the street. read more

Went there 3/2/2019 for my nieces sweet sixteen it was absolutely beautiful and the food was exceptional. The service was wonderful the wait staff was extremely polite and did there job well the mc was excellent and kept the crowd dancing and going all night. Would recommend this place too all. My sister dealt with a women name Debbie who put her party together and she is a absolutely wonderful person. A great time was had by all. read more
