Highly recommend the mermaid mood bowl I liked that it was seasonal l, the pitaya/dragonfruit was great, and I enjoyed the Nutella and coconut flakes with pineapple throughout. The bowl was made quickly and I was able to take it to go. The ambiance was nice but more of a place to go with a few friends for a quick bite. It was large buy I managed to eat most of it, and while it did hit the spot, I think I'll go with acai vs. pitaya next time. The ingredients seemed fresh, which is definitely important to me. I noticed their "Protein Wave" menu after the fact, so I would maybe consider ordering off of that next time. I like a fast casual healthy concept and this one falls under that category for sure. Playa Bowls... refreshing acai "Beach Bowls." Prices are a little higher here, but the bowls are a good size. They are all about 16 oz for $12-14 each, although additional toppings will cost you 75 cents each or $1.25 for extra vegan or whey protein. I got a Pacific Bowl (green bowl base) and 1/2 acai. Their bowls are more smoothie- based with toppings instead of a sorbet. While the bowls are tasty, the customer service was lacking and rude. Most of the workers were high school students or maybe in college. We placed a large order, and I asked the cashier about their rewards program. She was not friendly and said she didn't know how the rewards program worked, then said it was too late for us to apply our points after our order... not helpful at all. Then she said, "You need to have the app." We regret tipping them as the service was awful. I asked for a bag later, and she stared at me blankly, then said, "They are right here." The worst service I have gotten from an acai bowl place. :( The inside was cute and there was a lot of seating. However, the restrooms were out of toilet paper and they had run out of soap, and none of the four staff went to restock. I usually only care about the product when I go places, but the customer service here was unacceptable. I hope they can better train their staff or hire new staff that actually want to be there. This place is nice open and beach themed, lots of seating as well. The decoration was done perfectly taking who ever walks in to a beach town smoothie shop. There were lots of options which is great and with simple and healthy ingredients. We had gotten a banana berry smoothie and a mango one and both were very good! Tasted super refreshing and healthy! It was smooth and creamy and well, only thing was it's a more expensive place. Who knew looking for an açaí bowl place would lead to a place with so many choices. I've seen Playa Bowls around but never gave them a shot, but I was really craving an açaí bowl and they happen to be the closest place from where I was--and I'm glad they were. I didn't realize there were so many base options (e.g. açaí, coconut, banana, etc.), but it was a nice surprise. Took me a little to consider, but I stuck to the reason I came here. The bowls are delicious and plentiful, and I believe they're (almost--thanks inflation!) worth the price. The fruits are fresh, they're sweet (if in season), and enough to share between two people. If I'm looking to eat something as a healthy meal replacement, I'd come here since I left pretty full after eating a bowl by myself. The establishment isn't the cleanest, though, and I wish they did more frequent cleaning, as the tables had sticky leftovers from previous customers. The bathroom was also not great. Not a big deal if you're taking out. Speaking of, if you're taking out, I think it would actually be better since it'd give the bowl a little time to "thaw", making the consistency of the açaí smoother. So don't worry about it melting. I've been here 3 times for bowls with my husband and each time it's not as good as the previous. Today my husband got a to go order for us. I got the Booster Bowl and the banana base was very slimy. We got three other bowls and only one seemed to be somewhat cold and intact by the time we got it home (see photos). Maybe we shouldn't do takeout from here, but not sure why one bowl was fine and not the others. Either way, the bowl also didn't have much granola on top or bottom like it usually does and had hardly any honey (added for .50 cents). So glad we came across playa bowls cause wow what an amazing find it is. We have been there twice now and love how you can mix and match their bases with whatever toppings you want. First time I opted for their mango special, this was so good. The mango base was sweet and soft, almost like a sorbet. It was topped with strawberries and bananas with Nutella. First time here and enjoyed the HUGE variety of options for bowls. Like literally HUGE variety as in as soon as you walk in you are welcomed by a menu that sprawls across the wall by the counter. Since I couldn't make up my mind on the base I opted to split and chose coconut/banana with Nutella, banana, blueberry, coconut flakes, and cocoa nibs. The standout in terms of the base for me was the coconut. :) Service was pretty straight forward. And ambiance was cute with a beachy theme and everything was light, airy, and clean. My coworkers and bf love the Power Bowl (Peanut butter, granola, chocolate whey protein, and bananas)! It's an Arizona godsend during the summers here. The menu is also vast, so if acai isn't your thing, you're bound to find something else you will like! Service is honestly hit or miss. When she called out my order there was fruit juice and coconut shredding all over the container that I had to wipe off but it still left it very sticky. Put it in a bag myself and left. Adorable spot and extremely nice staff! Was in the mood for a refreshing açaí bowl and had this place bookmarked for a while! It was not too busy when I went, I like how they have all the bowls in the menu separated by their bases. I got an açaí bowl that had granola, pb, and protein powder. They don't have different sizes, to their bowls are really big! Mine was super filling. I will say I did not like the taste of the protein powder specifically so I would definitely order a different bowl next time. But it was beautifully presented and ready fast! The bowls are always delicious, just like today. What I have noticed after my last few visits, especially today, is the service and attitude of the workers is less than acceptable. The girls seem to have an attitude, as if it's a bother for us to be here, purchasing the goods that they serve. The "juicer" conveniently was "broken" and they were "out" of the banana base. Maybe these things were true but based on the attitude of both girls, I wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't want to do any extra work. They didn't smile or act pleasant in any regard. It's quite a disappointment because my family and I come here at least 1-2 a month and spend $50 each visit. I always promote Playa Bowls because I love their product but this makes me sad. I love Playa and have for many years so don't get me wrong I will still absolutely be returning here. However, the reason I chose to come here today was for the BOGO deal. I had the QR code loaded onto my phone already, and the cashier refused to scan it saying the deal was not valid. I had received a marketing text about the deal this morning confirming that it was in fact valid. The cashier was also playing on her phone while I was trying to place my order, which I'm assuming was her playing with the music because it was going from blasting to quiet and changing songs every 30 seconds as I ate. They also were sold out of many of their bases and toppings, although only their coconut base was listed as sold out. My bowl itself consisted almost entirely of overfrozen base and had little to no toppings, definitely missing the granola at the base of the bowl.
