I didn't see any Xboxes or PS. They did have a couple emulator arcade cabinets that played N64 Mario Kart. But that's all I remember really.

As a bar owner and person that's been to thousands of bars I understand the rules and requirements of checking id before entering or being served. On this recent night not only did I have to show my id ( which is the law) I had to give my id to door person to scan, scan really scanned. I'm 58 years old. What about me says do a deep dive on this guy's id. Pretty sure every person in the bar could guess I'm over 21, 31,41,51 and a few might guess 61. How insulting. How incredibly insulting to every regular over the age of 35. As regular customer for over a decade at least I feel like I've earned the respect and the courtesy of not having my id violated as a regular and a person that qualifies for senior discounts. I guess ownership is determined to ruin tiki no just like they did with the firefly and the powerhouse. In my humble opinion the tiki no ownership would be better served trying to create demand for new customers and not just being demanding of longtime friends and customers of tiki no. Maybe they should hire a monkey to stand out front to attract more customers. Everyone loves a monkey. Maybe the GM could do it. The one thing the only thing I now like about tiki no are the people that work there and worked there in the past. Hats for hiring well, even a blind squirrel finds a nut. There was a couple that saw my struggle to get a drink and they offered to buy me a drink which was so sweet. Get this: in the middle of a full bar waiting for drinks, this bartender stops everything, to spray into the air over the garnishes and drinks - an awful smelling tropical spray. And of course, never saw them wash their hands afterwards. It would require them to roll up their long sleeves. Like it was so obvious Prince didn't like the alternative crowd and really didn't want to be at work. It did feel a bit discriminatory but maybe not? We will never know. Bar back was more attentive and kinder than the bartender. I wondered if this person thought I was someone else that perhaps wronged them somehow? I have only seen this person working here and they're pretty mid of a bartender. I work in a restaurant too and it was very unpleasant to finish a 10 hour day of work to come here and be treated like this. I like Skinny's but if I saw this bartender working again, I would skip a drink, say hi to my friends and probably leave. It makes me upset to know this person was acting like this to me and my friends who actually put on the events there bringing people in to make this establishment money. I hope this bartender has had a better day since then. If you don't like goths, don't work the goth night.

Service is always great. I like to stop in and have the shumai, fries and either a responsible drink or an irresponsible drink in a bucket. The bucket drinks are fun but quite sweet and some come with gummy candies like sharks. Parking is a nightmare but I usually get lucky. Come and stay a while though, it's a good time.

What a chill cool awesome establishment! Have to really give it up to the staff and security for doing an awesome job. Let me begin by saying I don't normally write reviews but Player One exceeded my expectations. I've been here several times and really wanted to gauge it across different days (ie: weekdays and weekends) to see how it held up consistently. And it really did hold up! First, let's go straight to security. I actually read Yelp reviews in general and noticed there was talk of security bullying/unfairly kicking out customers who interacted with a Mandalorian cosplayer. I was actually there that night and saw the complete opposite. They were bullying Mando! Out with ye, ye scurvish! Security did a great job handling that awful group of customers and we all went back to having a great time. No room for drunk beligerents (as people are want to do around the NoHo area from time to time). Now to the fun part. Often times, as a patron, I've found bar staff to be much mote friendly and customer service friendly during the week as opposed to a weekend. Not only was the staff exceptionally friendly during the weekdays, but they were also great on the weekends as well which, as someone who's worked in the industry industry, knows full well how hard that is to achieve. So was pleasantly surprised when the staff was just as nice dueing the week as they were during a weekend. Now lets get into the games! As someone who can be downright picky about game selection, i was VERY impressed with the selection (Johh Mnemonic pinball anyone??). Great range of unique games, well maintained, as well as they actually give you your money back/give you credits if a game's not working, unlike 82 that will LITERALLY ignore you if you dare ask for sacrosanct quarters back, and OneUp where all of their games never work (ugh). Now for the drinks! Y'all, they are FULL LIQUOR now and that's where my nerdy heart soared. Combine my childhood nerdom with adult beverages called stuff like "The Qbert", "Darkwing Duck" and "The Ninja Turtle". All in all, great job, Player One. I had two female friends accosted by a cosplay Mandalorian the bar hired last Friday. Then the bar kicked US out and banned us. Now, they are hoping we'll just go away. It's my first time out to a bar in over 18th months... we had been there for an hour, everyone maybe one drink in and riding the high from a 1989 TMNT arcade extravaganza, and out of nowhere this Mandalorian guy takes one friend to the side and starts yelling at her, causing her to freeze up and start crying. Then he decided to bring another girl over and start berating her. She wasn't having it though. As soon as she started telling him off he fled (unlike a real Mandalorian) back to the bar staff and a few minutes later WE were being escorted out. The girls were removed first as the men in the group had to pay their bills. The co-owner, Chris Brooks, who presented himself as just a manager executing the will of the owner Annique Arrendondo, told the two women who were harassed that we were being kicked out for "our safety". After being escorted from the bar by a rather kind bouncer I was informed by both he and the doorman that no one would speak to me as to why I was being removed. I returned the next day to figure out what happened and the co-owner Chris confirmed with me that we were removed for our safety. That someone was making fun of this cosplayer and he was upset and that there "was going to be a fight". He did what he had to do to keep everyone safe. But that regardless of who was at fault we were banned from ever returning to the bar... the bar where my friends were accosted. Nope. He then requested I have a friend remove an unkind Yelp review and that it would "go a long way" as far as getting me back in. Unlikely. I will personally never return to this place. Wasn't planning on it. I hope you don't either. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and frankly I don't know what else to do but write this review and leave it be. read more

I want to like this place. I really, really want to like this place. An arcade for adults? Forget heaven, I want to go here when I die. But if you've ever had a pebble in your shoe then you know it only takes one tiny little thing to ruin an entire experience. And in our case, that tiny little thing was the demon from hell known as karaoke. I've been to karaoke bars before. I get it - drunk assholes go up and slaughter songs that they have no business touching. It's what people like. You record your idiot friend, shout words of encouragement to them that they don't deserve, and then never watch the video you took. I get it. But I also get that every other bar I've been to that has a karaoke angle usually keeps that to one room or one area so that it can't ruin everyone else's night OR they make it the entire focus of the evening so the only people participating are sadists and masochists - no innocent bystanders get hurt. But not at Player One. At Player One the karaoke is so earsplittingly loud that even in the arcade area (the only reason my friends and I wanted to be there) we couldn't hear a damned thing or enjoy the games, as the screams of Journey being viciously mauled pierced our ears at every second. Both concepts are fine. Karaoke bar? Why not. People like that because people are stupid, and stupid give up their money easily. I'm all for it. Arcade bar? Why not. There aren't many of them, so finding one is a gem that SHOULD attract repeat customers. Why not. But putting them together just doesn't work. I love ranch dressing. I love brownies. That doesn't mean ranch dressing should go on brownies. In short, putting karaoke together with an arcade is a combo that just doesn't work and takes away from EVERYONE'S experience... except for drunk Dewey Finn up there vomiting all over Huey Lewis and the News. read more

I really wish I got a chance to go inside. Parking was horrible. Thursday night no street parking. And all you see are sketchy dudes in their all black hoodie pants shoes and empty back backs sometimes holding what looks like crow bars or slim Jim's and still wearing masks years after the pandemic and 70 degrees outside. Tow trucks creeping around every corner slowly like sharks in the reef. I'm handi capped so I need something that is not a marathon to just get to a bar. We are in luck! There is a lot that says public parking!!! Oh but it's $15 dollars. And there's a guy with body language arguing with the tenant that suggests something happen to his car in the lot. As we see a tow truck barrel down the side street bouncing over the pot holes and I swear I heard Yosemite Sam laughing wickedly in the truck seemingly so happy he just ruined somebody's life. Dare I say, the tenant calls the tow company for anyone parking outside the lot for a commission. And obviously has a blind eye to the shady young scholars on bikes lurking in cars. So after about 10minutes of observing this from inside my car. I decided not to park anywhere and just leave. If the bar employees don't want to fix it then they must be in on it. It's a funny thing how people let a $25 commission really bring out the evil in them. It felt like a very evil place. But inside..... I hope it doesn't match the introduction. read more

I went to Player One for the first time this past week and I absolutely LOVED it. I'm not a huge arcade guy, but enjoy gaming and socializing with friends and there was a nicely diverse mix of different games to play from pinball to emulators to DDR (which is not the easiest to find and one of my favorite things to play). It was busy when I went because of an event but even so it didn't feel overcrowded, and I absolutely loved having some separation between the front bar area and the back gaming area so I could sit down and enjoy a beer and socialize with friends without a bunch of people around yelling at machines or listening to music from the games. The game pricing was reasonable and you only paid for what you play so there wasn't extra charges or costs. Their beer selection was great and the pricing was not crazy, though if they're focusing on beer I would love if they had some draft/pitcher options which I think would motivate more groups to come in! Overall I look forward to coming back again soon and think it's a phenomenal addition to the neighborhood! read more

I absolutely love Player One! As someone who's been going to arcade bars for a long time this place really had me impressed! They have a great selection of games including some rare ones like Dr. Who pinball and Ninja Warrior. They have a good selection of beer, cider and wine. I'm not normally a beer, wine and cider person, but the bar staff was lovely and quick to recommend something I would like, which I actually did. Not sure why everyone keeps complaining about it being "cramped" and "musty"... there's nothing cramped or musty about it. There's plenty of space and just a good time to be had! Also, if you go to other barcades like 82 or Button Mash (not counting One Up because it's just not a real barcade. Just being honest, eight emulators don't count), it's busy because places like this get popular. Whiny babies need to get over it. All in all, glad to have this place in the neighborhood. Fun Atmosphere, Great Games, and Friendly Staff! We headed over to Player One Arcade Bar after a birthday dinner, and it ended up being such a fun night! The arcade games brought out the competitive side in all of us, and we even jumped into a karaoke session, which was a total blast. The place has a great mix of old-school and newer arcade games, and there's something for everyone to enjoy. The vibe inside was laid-back and casual, making it perfect for hanging out with friends and having a good time. The staff was really friendly and made everything so easy, from ordering drinks to jumping into karaoke. To top it off, we randomly ran into some other friends, which added an unexpected fun twist to the night! Player One has quickly become my favorite hang out in the North Hollywood area. From the fantastic and friendly service, to the litany of fun retro games (which are all incredibly cheap to play which is awesome) that range from the classics (DIG DUG!) to some of my favorite games from when I was growing up (Star Wars Arcade), to the special events they host, there is so much to love. The drink selection is also great, offering a wide selection of craft beers and some fun mixed drinks (Still need to try the Yoshi's Island Iced Tea). They also lean into the whole TRON aesthetic, which is a huge bonus in my book. This place truly is the complete package for those who want to go out, have a few drinks, and play some awesome games from yesteryear. This place is amazing! I organize large LGBT group activities and approached Player One about hosting one there and they were WONDERFUL from the first word. They went out of their way to help me at every turn, even helping arrange food trucks, a step and repeat, and a place where I could have a caricature artist sit! The staff and owners are all incredible sweet and helpful! The space is amazing! Their arcade cabinets have literally thousand of game options! They have DDR, Air Hockey, Pinball, and a SUPER FUN group Pac-Man game! You may see a review complaining that the place is cramped (provided he doesn't take it down). That review was based off our event and that was literally THE ONLY person out of 220+ attendees who didn't have a great time and didn't love the venue! read more

I had the pleasure of checking out this venue for an event that was held there recently. The event was twice as busy as expected, which filled the venue with excited gamers! The layout, the ambiance, and the staff are all absolutely fantastic. For being as busy as it was, it was still a very manageable space! The layout was fun; and some of the arcade machines holding dozens upon dozens of games led for variety! I can't wait to go back and hope to have a repeat event like the one I was there for. Came here for the first time for an event. It's walking distance from my apartment which is great. Looks small from the outside, but once you walk in the arcade room is in the back. Great selection of games with a decent amount of room to move around even with the large crowd that showed up for the night. They only serve wine and beer, but they have a great variety of beer selections. There were food trucks outside which was great for after beer noshing. overall its an ok place, not the best selection of games but just ok. lot of the arcade games are emulators with widescreen LCD monitors so the games are stretched out and are not the correct aspect ratio. the MVC p2 buttons are not mapped correctly and some of the games have blurry monitors. if your more of a real arcade game player then there's not much here for you few ok stuff and some junk. hopefully they will get rid of the pandora emulation junk and get real arcade machines with proper monitors. read more

I'm so glad this place exists! It's a great neighborhood arcade with a lot of the games from my childhood arcade days. There's no cover charge and it's all coin operated games and plenty of game selection including a pinball game section. There's a bar up front and friendly staff. I've been to a birthday party, a social event mixer held there, and once with a couple friends and enjoyed it every time. Would definitely recommend checking it out. read more

What makes for a good evening? How about great video games and a fantastic beer list. As a gamer (and a bit of a beer snob), this place really hit the spot. The staff was friendly and quick and, added bonus, they had a Doctor Who pinball game. A lot of games from different eras -- got to revisit college via Area 51. Highly recommend. read more

This is one of my new favorite spots! I just discovered this place when I joined the JOYST1CK gaymer event and it was like a dream venue for that kind of meet up. The caricatures were a nice touch, the staff was awesome and friendly and the whole vibe was super chill. Definitely a great place to go with a big group of people. read more

Really cool bar and we usually go to Trivia Night on Tuesday Nights. This most recent night however the trivia host, Michelle, was particularly rude to my wife and I. We're not sure what we could've done to provoke such a harsh treatment but we deinitely won't be back for a while. read more

I was attending a show here when an older patron suddenly collapsed. When it became clear he couldn't stand, I helped him lie flat and told the general manager to call 911. He replied, "We don't need 911." Recognizing the urgency, I stepped outside and called 911 myself. Through the window, I saw the bartender trying to prop the disoriented man onto a barstool, a move that directly contradicts basic emergency care guidelines. Then he went back to serving drinks! When paramedics arrived, the bartender came outside shouting, "I told you not to call 911!" and even attempted to turn the EMTs away. The patient was ultimately transported and hospitalized, confirming that emergency care was absolutely necessary. Refusing to call 911 for a collapsed and confused elderly patron is reckless, negligent, and shockingly unprofessional This incident reflects an alarming lack of judgment and empathy, and it placed a vulnerable person at real medical risk. Terrible experience.

Huge pros and cons…read more Games here are pricey. We're talking about 80 tokens for 20 bucks, where each game is about 8 to 13 tokens, where all the popular ones are on the higher end. They offer a time-play card for cheap, about 10 dollars for 60 minutes, but you can only play about 18 games, and usually the less popular ones. So yes, pricey, but they offer food for cheaper than most places, even than the mall itself. You can get your kid ice cream here for 1 dollar, yes, 1 freaking dollar! That's what sold me. Food is also cheap; we got a large pepperoni pizza, fries, and an unlimited refill drink for 10 bucks. They got alcoholic drinks at a decent price too. And they currently have a collab with anime shows so you can get special drinks and cups, like from the One Piece collectors edition that keeps selling out quick. You can also get specialty food. They also offer bowling and pool so you can spend a whole day here. My son and I spent 2 hours here, and we had a blast. Expensive, yes, but fun nonetheless.

To make the most of your experience, I suggest getting on the guest list and arriving before 10:30 PM for free entry--it's $10 after that, but who doesn't like free? You can relax with a drink until the crowd starts to arrive around 11. Drink prices are standard, around $15, but they have a limited selection of beers, mainly traditional Mexican ones. The place is definitely hidden in plain sight and while they have a decent sized sign, it kind of gets lost in the surrounding visual, but since I was slowing down, I was able to see it and pull into the parking lot. Definitely the quintessential 'hole in the wall' place in visual and vibe. For a Sunday first NFL game of the day it was a very light crowd so I didn't stay much longer than one beer, but I can definitely see it having a local following of the blue collar businesses that are plentiful in the area. I will probably stop back one night to see how that timing changes 'the scene'.
