The breakfast I ordered was pretty cold, gloppy and flavorless. The hostess asked the two people before us if they wanted a table or a booth, for us she said hi and seated us where she felt like, then walked off. A couple of years ago, the last time we were here, which was at night, I ordered a martini. I've ordered martinis at dozens of places, this was by far the worst. Warm and tasted vile. This is a very good solid choice for a dinner. They serve breakfast all day long and have a huge menu with a great selection of food choices. They always have reasonably priced specials. I have been here a few times for dinner when I had to work late. I had their burgers and fries before. I really liked their fish and chips, they gave me a nice huge piece of fried breaded cod fish. I'm a sucker for a good old fashioned diner meat loaf with mashed potatoes. Very generous portions with a good amount of gravy. Entrees include the salad bar and a bowl of soup. This is a nice place to visit if you're looking for a good breakfast. I have always enjoyed their bacon egg and cheese. They are certainly the best around here, in my opinion!! My breakfast special came with a delicious mimosa as well!! Staff is extremely friendly and polite. Clean and relaxing atmosphere. My partner and I are always treated well when we come here. I only checked the reviews for this place after I had already ordered my food, so I'm a little hesitant to give this place 3/4 stars, but my experience at Plaza Diner was one of the best from a diner I've had from a dinner in a long time. I got to try two specials, the stuffed chicken breast (with crab) and the lamb shank. The chicken soup I got was warm and satisfying and the salad bar was mostly fresh (except the pasta salads were a little less so). They even had olives! Waitress got our orders quickly and the wait was pretty short for the dinner orders we put in. When they came out, I was pretty impressed. Huge platters of food that would obviously have lots of leftovers! I was hungry and I still only got through half the plate. The sauce on the lamb was unique and sweetly savory, the meat was really tender. The chicken was cooked well and tasted great with the cheesy crab inside. They didn't mention the cheese, but I forgot to ask (and it was awesome in it). Mashed potatoes were pretty average for a diner but with a little salt or gravy (which was very salted), I scooped those right up. I'm glad I stopped in, and I hope they smooth out their consistency problems so others can experience a great meal like I did! read more

to be real, I LOVED this place. loved the old school diner ambiance, food was easy and my club sandwich was really good. we randomly got whiskey sours and they were awesome. in our past experience, a diner would make drinks super sweet or too strong to enjoy. these were perfect! did I mention the service? truly top notch. sweet from the moment we walked in to the time we walked out the door. I don't really feel like an easy to please while eating out type chick... just being honest... and this experience for me was exceptional even all while my toddler threw a fit. so.. you should go try it! read more

Second try and we walked out. We had sat down and waited for over 20 minutes and no server - no menu, no water - nothing and the place wasn't particularly busy. The number of tables with piled up dirty plates should have tipped us off that this is a dysfunctional business. Given how tough it is at the moment with the shortage of workers we were willing to give the place a second try - maybe they were having a rough day. But 2 months later - it was the same scenario. Also noticed a nasty smell - that musty "wet mop" odor, ugh! Wake up Plaza - you have a Tesla charging station in your parking lot - those drivers would love to have a meal or even a piece of pie while they wait to charge. Our car was already charged while we waited for no server so we drove across to Dunkin Donuts. We won't be trying a third time. read more

Lookout for a n easy lunch after a stressful morning and came across the Plaza dinner. We were seated quickly and pleasantly. The menu is extensive with lots of salads, sandwiches, filled pitas and paninis. We ordered a Greek gyro with fries and a bbq on bun. Fries were really good and hubby liked the bbq, which was huge ! My gyro would have been better with more meat and way less chopped onion. I could have used more sauce too, didn't get a chance to catch the busy waitress. I rate it just ok. Desserts looked good but we were too full to try one. Overall, we had a good lunch, good service and a pleasant atmosphere. Would go back. read more

I went to the Plaza diner the other day for lunch. My order consisted of a roast beef sandwich and french fries. Before ordering the roast beef I asked if the roast beef was deli meat or made at the diner, and if the french fries were made fresh The waitress (M) assured me the roast beef was cooked in the restaurant and the french fries would be fresh. When the roast beef sandwich arrived it was very small, It was the size of half a sandwich, The pieces of roast beef were cold, smooth, uniformly cut, and had a refrigerator aftertaste. Anyone could tell this was presliced and weighed deli meat and not homemade, The roast beef had no flavor, but had an aftertaste as if the meat was left open in the refrigerator and had absorbed refrigerator odors The french fries I was served were lukewarm so they obviously were not made for the order. My waitress was serving me and three other tables. During the course of my meal, she visited the other tables and asked them how they liked their meal. In the half-hour, I was there eating the sandwich she did not visit my table once except when I was returning to place a tip on the table. I think she felt because I was only ordering an 8.50 sandwich I was not worth being treated like a human being. I am not certain about others but I don't get to go out often and when I do I expect the meal to be at least equal to the quality of the meals I make for myself, and I certainly do not wish to be lied to. The waitresses are absolutely amazing, full of energy, and always there when you need them. I always recommend Plaza Diner to anyone who asks where to eat in Hudson. I have ate here many different occasions since I was a teenager. Unfortunately it just seems that this place has grown very stagnant in its atmosphere, and selections. Even though being under what seems like new ownership, it just still seems to be holding onto the same "dated" vibe from years gone by. Food quality is reasonable, I mean it's certainly lives up "short order" food. Nothing that really screams out a "must try!" One nice feature they do have is the mini salad bar, that is included in most of the entree specials that are offered. Also they do have a small section of Mexican food; typical selections (enchiladas, tacos, burritos). Nothing extremely fancy or made from scratch items. I guess that it's an overall reasonable place to dine, if your looking for cheap eats, and are willing to settle for an average dining experience. Recently went in to plaza diner a few times. Since it's one of the only "old fashioned" diners in the area, I thought I'd try it a few tries before I wrote this review. All in all, it's your standard American breakfast diner. That being said, you'll definitely get your breakfast-for-dinner fix, but I'd rate Plaza Diner maybe half a star slower than an Ihop or Denny's (which consistently represent 3 star diners in my opinion). The food is okay, but has an artificial taste to it that I can't put my finger on. It's almost like a better version of microwaveable frozen breakfast foods from the grocery store. Pancakes come with boxed syrup packets, and real maple syrup is an additional $3. They also don't have hash browns. Either way, the wait staff is attentive and quick to serve. They're open decently late and probably the only place around here that you can get breakfast for dinner aside from McDonald's. The food is also cheap so most of my criticism is void because the quality of the meal is equally representative of its price. read more
