Family owned and operated since July early 70's. We have been ordering this pizza and sucking it down since around conception of the joint. The crust is thin and crispy with a flaky texture. I love to eat the flaky pieces left over in the box! ;) The sauce.....well, the sauce is amazingly perfect. It has the best flavor of any pizza sauce I have tasted. We are usually torn between ordering two extra large pepperoni pizzas, or one extra large pepp and one extra large All The Way. The All The Way is SOOOOO good! The only thing is that sometimes it is a little limp with all the toppings they put on this beast! My suggestion is to ask them to cook this one an extra five minutes to help alleviate that limp. ;) All in all, this is THE BEST PIZZA Newark has to offer. Go for it! Order up!! read more

This pizza is raved about and I don't get it!? They have minimal toppings, all of which look canned aside from the meat, which is just as cheap as the rest of it. The crust here is thin and the taste of it is exactly like a saltine cracker. We have had better pizza out of the frozen section at the grocery store. Just skip this place and go to Donatos if you like thin crust. Also, they do not accept debit cards, they are closed on Wednesday, they have a tiny parking lot, and they have a bad connection on their phone line, which results in wrong orders. Plaza pizza is my favorite pizza. Nothing compares. It's thin and crispy with perfectly proportionate toppings and sauce. There's not really much to say since it's pizza. I'm from Massachusetts and I've been coming to Newark Ohio on business for over a decade. Not one visit to this area has passed without at least one trip to Plaza Pizza! I have dreams about this cracker crunchy crust wonder! You must get a large so it's cut into the unique Plaza Pizza strip slices! This way tastes the best! The only topping I order is their signature combo called "All The Way" which is the only way to go. It has pepperoni, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and ... Wait for it... Green olives and banana peppers!!! This totally sends this pizza to a whole new level for me! (Even though I've just had their simple pepperoni pizza and that was amazing too!) if your not in the mood for pizza, you can always order up a "torpedo" which is a very skinny and long cold cut sub. Plaza is THE place to go for pizza in this town. I grew up having Plaza with my grandparents, introduced my husband to it, and now my daughter has it with my parents. This isn't just a pizza, it's nostalgia. Crust - thin, flaky, perfectly golden brown Sauce - just enough to taste, not overwhelming or sloppy Toppings - soooo many! I think alot of these reviews here are from the owners friends and family. I tried the Pizza for the first time tonight. The crust was NOT cracker like. It was SOFT and when I would pick up a piece the pizza would BEND!!! Cracker crust pizza stays firm. When it would bend the cheese would crack in half..not stretch. It was greasy and soggy as Hell!!! OVERRATED from the FAKE comments here!!! Took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get the gross pizza..and that was pick up. The girl at the cash register was chewing on food, while I was waiting she must have had a sub and half a Pizza..GROSSSSS!!!! Never again. BEWARE of the FAKE reviews here. Probably the best pizza I have ever had. Bar none. We do eat other pizza's in Newark but only if it is on Wed or during a very busy time and when they are closed for vacation. Mike and Donna have been putting out these pizzas for years. My Daughter and her family live in Florida. When we are going down to visit she insists we bring Plazza Pizza. We have taken as many as ten on an airplane with us. When we drive we take about six at least. Better than anything we have had on each coast or in Italy. read more

I have lived on both coasts and eaten pizza all over this country. This is the real deal. We went there this past fall on a day that was hotter than h*ll. There is NO air conditioning in this joint. Be forewarned. You are essentially sitting in the kitchen as it is a one room shack. The dining room and ovens are within a few feet of each other. I would surmise a great place to go in the winter. That said, as we sweated down our pizza, it was pure delight. The owners have a picture on the wall of when they started this place half a century ago and both were still working when we went. How cool is that? More than made up for the lack of air conditioning. Pizza is subjective. It's like art. Each one has its own unique flavors, textures and experiences. This is as good as it gets. Is it the best pizza I have ever had? It's right up there. There is no one best pizza. Just like art. I drove 70 miles round trip to pick up a friend and then head to Newark.
