Was craving some Lo Mein and stopped by this place. I never been here, so a grabbed a menu and stepped to the side. I then realized the paper menu prices were outdated. All of the correct prices are posted on the counter. They have space for eating in. I ordered the beef lo mein and beef egg foo young and I also purchased some hot chili oil. Even though they were busy, I received my food promptly. Went home and the food was still plenty warm. The lo mein was good with mushrooms, carrots, bean sprouts, cabbage and green onions. The meat was tender and the portion, like their name was plenty for 2 meals. The egg foo young came with white rice and was my favorite. Fluffy patties with a good brown sauce (gravy). When I try a restaurant for the first time, I don't like to add any request because I want to taste it like it's normally prepared. My request next time would be more green onions. read more

Food was just ok. It arrived very punctually (I did delivery) and was still very hot. There was just a funny after taste to the sesame chicken I ordered. The egg roll that came in the lunch special was soggy, but the separate side order of egg rolls was crispier. Just didn't care for the flavor of the egg rolls. We found our new go-to carry-out (or delivery) spot and we couldn't be more pleased with Plenty! They have a pretty extensive menu, but our go to's are the lo mein and chicken fried rice. Plenty Chinese was A-OK in my book. This place hits my Americanized Chinese food spot. Located on the corner of Damen and Montrose, Plenty Chinese is easy to find, next to the Giordano's. For around $7, you get a choice of entree, with an egg roll and white/fried rice. I went with the mongolian chicken. I asked the person if it came with sauce or dry. He said dry. When I received it, it had sauce. The good thing is, it wasn't drenched in it. The entree wasn't too salty and overall, it was A-OK. Egg roll was decent.. and the white rice was the majority of the lunch special, which for me, was expected. Service was fast. The place seems to cater mostly for takeout, although the dining area was, like the restaurant's name says, plenty. There were individual tables (no, literally, individual tables; there was one single chair on a table) and group tables. Bring your friends, or come alone! Typical, run-of-the-mill, strip mall FFC (fast food Chinese). Plenty serves plenty of food for a low cost if buying into their lunch specials. There isn't much special to the food preparation though. But you'll gain a crap load of food and enough to smash any appetite. It's unbelievable that lunch specials are still a mere $6.50 dollars and come with your choice of steamed rice or chicken fried rice and a (fat) egg roll. For the money, you're receiving what feels like a pound of food! The egg roll is passable, its contents have no flavor and you'll need to utilize the Chinese mustard with any other sauces to give its insipid flavor something to get it down. I am known to smash egg or spring rolls a-plenty. But this was so blah. When making egg rolls fresh, the veg ingredients should sing. This doesn't which makes me think these egg rolls have sat in the freezer or refrigerator a good long time. The food is intense with salty, sweet flavors and for those that love fast food Chinese, I think you'd enjoy it abundantly. But those that are looking to enjoy fresh preparations, fresh ingredients and such.. this is a hard miss. I tried the Tso's and the meat chunks were overcooked, hardened pieces en-robed in much batter and fried soft. The Tso's sauce is plentiful and goop-y, so it clings onto all the fried pieces. But if you slice into the goop, you'll see what I mean. Also sampled their "insert protein" in garlic sauce entree. A measure of sugar was added to this and it was too sweet. Super flat flavor of both Chicken and veg- OMG that was the top of the grossness it was slimy and super thick sauce didn't tasted much thick weird chicken and a couple veggies around! My excitement for Chinese food was quickly crushed by the reality of my delivery. I ordered the Szechuan vegetables, which I anticipated would include baby corn and pea pods and maybe some broccoli, and which was advertised as spicy. What I got was 80% bamboo shoots and green peppers, 20% mushrooms, and in a gelatinous gravy that was sweet with only minimal heat. I also ordered the salt and pepper tofu, something that would normally not have caught my attention but for the multiple mentions in Yelp reviews. I got the General Tso's chicken combination plate and the portion is so huge and packed with amazing flavor. Usually some Americanized Chinese spots have bland fried rice, but theirs is so tasty. Told that it is on the way. 9:15 - no food and now the app says it was delivered. Contact GrubHub. 9:30 - GrubHub replies and says the restaurant has canceled the order because they are too busy. Anything that we ordered that was fried, tasted like it was leftover from the previous night and thrown back in the fryer and cooked to a an mich too well done crisp. PROBLEM: Restaurant used the wrong type of container for the food. Styrofoam containers were bent out of shape making it almost impossible for container to lay straight once placed over your table/desk- food literally dripped right out! Ordered hot sauce, received OIL with like 4 red pepper flakes. Not a big deal .50 cents- but I expect sauce not oil!
