In my opinion, this should have been avoided with real-time weather rerouting. Post-incident communication and valuation have been unsatisfactory from my standpoint, and the matter is now with counsel. If you ship a high-value car with any carrier, ask for a written live-weather protocol and a clear total-loss valuation process before booking. I used Plycar Transport, a division of Plycon, to transport my 1940 Ford coupe from Houston to southern NM. They used an enclosed truck and gave me the best price by far out of 5 quotes. I always use a company that owns their own trucks as compared to brokers because if something were to go wrong, you are dealing with one company from quote to delivery and they control their drivers. The truck was top quality and the seller, who loaded the car, was very impressed by the time, 1 hr, and care that the driver took in loading it. He was also impressed by the fact the truck had 2 Porches & a 65 Corvette on it already. The driver even wiped down the car as it was raining. It only took 3 days to pick up and actually was on the first day of a 2 day window for pickup. You also get a copy of their insurance with a quote. The truck made the 800 mile trip in 2 days & arrived without damage and was carefully unloaded. Driver called me half way here with ETA and 1 hr out to confirm arrival time. He was very friendly & has worked for them for 6 years (he transported a $1 million car in the past). My initial review showed that they are an approved transport for Porsche, Bently and Astin Martin & many of their reviews on line mentioned the number of expensive cars on their trucks. Having done this before, I can tell you that the most important things in a car transport is the driver and the truck. I highly recommend Plycar Transport for your car transport needs. read more

The driver called me when he picked up the car, again the day prior to delivery, and again when he was arriving in town. He delivered the car in perfect condition, on time, and at a competitive rate. Do not Use Plycon for Shipping! We recently purchased two handcrafted wooden Windsor chairs with a two tone distressed milk paint finish ($1,400 each) from a craftsman in New York State and had them shipped by Plycon to our home in Northern California. We paid a fee of $770 for the shipment including insurance and white glove delivery service, which includes unpacking the items from their shipping containers, placing the items in the home, and removing all packing materials. At delivery, we were informed that one of the chairs was broken (seat split). The other was ok, but we refused delivery since they were a matching set of chairs. Dealing with Plycon on this issue was a disaster from start to finish! Throughout the process, communication with Plycon was totally erratic, unreturned phone calls, no communication of delivery schedule, missed appointments etc. We were yelled at and lied to on multiple occasions when we questioned their behavior. Plycon insisted on taking care of the furniture repairs themselves rather using a professional restorer or the original chair maker, or filing an insurance claim for a new chair. The repairs were totally butchered and unprofessional. The two tone colors of the milk paint finish had not been matched and the distressed look was completed with what appeared to be silver spray paint. In fact, the spray paint also left drips on the seat and covered a few of the undamaged spindles in addition to patches on the seat. The redelivery of the chairs after repairs was particularly unprofessional. No photos of the restoration work were provided prior to redelivery as promised. We were not notified of the redelivery schedule. Instead they dropped off the crated chairs on our front doorstep when we were not home. They did not unpack the chairs for us so the we could examine and accept the repairs, and they did not remove the shipping materials (white glove service). Plycon later emailed a copy of the bill of lading that had a signature forged on the "accepted by" line. We found this BOL to be fraudulent and an unconscionable business practice. What they were in effect doing was stating that we had accepted the white glove delivery, and had approved the repaired condition of the delivered goods. Those facts were clearly untrue. At this point rather than continuing to deal with the shipper, we decided to cut our losses and make the repairs through a local furniture restorer a a cost of $500. As a final note, a Plycon agent suggested that I contact Bill Morgan director of operations in their NY office, but Mr. Morgan had no interest in working with us. After multiple attempts to contact him and leaving two detailed voicemail messages, we have not received any return calls. In retrospect, we should have read the many reviews of Plycon on the internet before we shipped with them. We advise any potential users of Plycon's shipping services to read the numerous negative reviews first. Most of the reviewers have had similarly bad experiences with this company. From our standpoint, Plycon has a totally unconscionable business ethic. We will never use them again and advise everyone to avoid them at all costs. read more

I used plycars after a recommendation from a friend. Found them to be extremely friendly and easy going. Straightforward pricing (no hidden fees or extra charges) and shipped my car across country with no issues. They were cheaper than the national moving company had quoted me and shipped it in a covered truck as pictured vs most companies I talked with used open trailers. The only downside I would say is given the amount of cars they pick up/drop off they did need a two day window for pick up and for drop off again had a few day estimate. Thankfully wasn't an issue for us and driver called the day before with a narrow two hour pick up and drop off window. I had a very nice Corvette to move from another state. Plycar was recommended to me by a couple of Corvette people and the place that stores my car. They were price competitive, responsive to my questions and flexible when it came to arranging the pick up. I flew out of state to pick up the car and they worked it out that I could see it get loaded on the trailer and then they supplied a GPS tracker so I could see where the car was each day. TERRIBLE, UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE!!! I used them to move a high-dollar recording studio across the country because I didn't trust our government movers (which would have been free for me but I wanted to ensure the studio was transported with 'white glove' attention). I was told it would take 10-14 days from pick up to delivery. 27 days later, it arrived at its destination. In addition, Plycon's 'White Glove Service' included dropping several pieces and causing damage. They were communicative during the shipment process however as soon as I noted that damage had occurred, it's almost impossible to get anyone to respond. I have been trying since July to resolve this damage and it's almost October. My assigned point of contact, Tina Burgess, only responds when I email the Director of Operations, Tom MacDonald and request assistance. I've opened a BBB complaint and they are not responding to that either. I shipped my 2005 Corvette from DC to LA using this service. The rate was competitive and they have a solid reputation among car enthusiast forums online, so I went ahead and booked a pickup. These guys have their own trucks, so you aren't dealing with a broker / bidding / middle man. This is as simple as it gets - you provide the pickup, dropoff, and they send a truck. I had a few small hiccups along the way but everything was resolved in the end. I dealt with Anthony who was more courteous, professional, and understanding than anyone else I had spoken to throughout my hunt for a shipping company. It really does come down to the people at the other end of the line - and it's not just about the service delivery. You want to know that in the slight chance that issues arise, delays occur, etc that your provider will communicate and make things right, and in my case, Plycar did just that. These guys even went out of their way to express how tough a cross-country move must be and empathized with the stress I was under, which is kind of shocking. Most people just want to close up the deal and move on - I felt like they actually cared about my concerns, situation, the quality of service and overall experience, which is refreshing. I was really worried after I bought antique chairs on Ebay from a seller in San Francisco and she hired this mover to ship them to me in Massachusetts and I went online and read the reviews. I was banking on Paypal guarantee to cover my loses if this didn't work out. It did take over a month, but I fully expected that to happen given the distance. They called me a couple of days ahead to check and make sure I would be available. They then called the day before to tell me they would be arriving between 4 and 6 p.m. I was a little annoyed as they didn't show up until after 8 p.m. with no phone call until they were almost at my house. They explained that they had fallen behind because of traffic earlier in the day, which should have warranted a phone call to tell me about the delay as I picked up children early, etc. to ensure I would be there to accept the chairs. Other than that, everything went fine. I'm sorry for those who didn't have a great experience as I get how that works, but I was overall pleased with this company and how well they took care of my purchase. read more

BEWARE: Plycon Van Lines is a large company with an even bigger ego and sense of entitlement which has rendered them with the arrogant opinion that their time matters and your time does not... I originally wrote a much more detailed version of my horrible experience, but Yelp has a word count limit: so I've had to compress the details. Plycon was hired by a customer of mine to pick up 2 large doors in California to be delivered to an address in Maryland. Coincidentally, my customer had bought a single regular-sized interior door from another seller who's shop was literally 10 minutes from my location. Red Flag #1 was when I learned that Plycon demanded an additional $700 from my customer-- to travel the extra 10 minutes to pick up the single door from the other vendor to be added to the delivery (Most companies...one's with decency...would have considered this extra stop as one combined pick-up, or at the very most asked for an additional $50) So the situation forced us to try to have the other seller meet me at the pick up location for my doors (a storage unit) at the same time that Plycon would come by, in order to have the additional door considered part of the "same pick-up" The plan was that Plycon would contact me 24 hours in advance to agree on a time for the pick up. I emphasize the word "agree" (on a time). After a few days of waiting to hear from them, I got a phone message at 3:45 PM that they would meet me between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM the next day (less than 24 hours in advance). When I returned their call, I got a recording saying they were unavailable and directing me to leave a message (Which I did) On my message to Plycon: I said that the other seller could bring his door to my location at 1:00 (the far end of the suggested pick-up time)...so I could meet at 1:00 PM the next day I got no reply. The next day came and I had still not heard back from Plycon...so I called 3 more times that morning and left messages each time....and I called and left messages an additional 2 times to another phone number that I had for them...I left a total of 6 messages and never received a single call back ! By 12:20 PM the next day (proposed day of pick-up) I got a call from Oscar,the driver for Plycon who said he was 10 minutes away from my location I noticed on my caller ID that he was calling from an entirely new phone number ~ so I asked him " Did you get my previous 6 messages, telling you that I could meet you with the other seller at 1:00 ?" He replied "I don't know" "You don't know if you got my 6 messages ??? " I replied in disbelief !..."and why are you calling me on a phone number entirely different from any phone number I have been given ?" ~"Because this is my cell phone" he replied "I said on each of my 6 messages that I could meet you at 1:00....so if you are 10 minutes away, that will put you at my storage location at 12:30 PM ~ so please wait and we will be there at 1:00 " Oscar replied: " No ! We can't wait for you, you will be there in 10 minutes: or we won't come!" I pointed out that I had to wait for someone else to meet us there at 1:00, as I have specified again & again in my messages. Oscar just barked " Call the office, we will not be coming" & he hung up on me! In disbelief, I had to call my customer in Maryland, who called the main Plycon office ~ which prompted a call to me from Caesar at Plycon, who explained " YOU don't understand: when we TELL you the window of when we will be there YOU DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE about when we will come, it will be sometime in that window~ We cannot wait for you !...We have met our obligation to you to be there between 11:00 and 1:00 by telling you we were 10 minutes away" I kept explaining to Caesar that the other seller (with the other door) was not there, but would be there at 1:00 as I had specified on my 6 messages...Caesar insisted " You have left NO MESSAGES !...I personally have checked both numbers: there are NO MESSAGES from you !....So call the New York office !"..and he also hung up on me ! In the meantime, it was about 12:35 by now & the other seller arrived (early) with his single door. I called my customer in Maryland who phoned Plycon and convinced them to return for the pick up~ eventually they showed up & took the doors away Plycon chose to add ugliness, greed, arrogance, rudeness & disrespect into the world...when a bit of grace, class and professionalism could have avoided all the negativity. I hope this post to YELP makes the world a better place by warning any of you who are considering hiring Plycon: apparently they have too much money and think they are above everyone else. My hope is that Plycon collapses under the weight of their own arrogance and goes out of business .... read more

Was stood up by Plycon yesterday, with no notification that the driver didn't show up for work. This was after a confirmation call from dispatch. They rescheduled and confirmed for the following day. I was told the driver would be an hour late. After waiting 2 1/2 hours, and unable to get anyone from Plycon on the phone, i left. We just moved from NYC to DC with Plycon. This was hands down the least stressful move I've ever had, and I've moved 8x over a decade. I have a 5 month old, which makes moving even more stressful. They showed up on time and communicated everything in advance. They packed everything carefully for us, the movers there they day of were really nice and helpful. You can tell they love their job and really care about you as a customer. Nothing was broken, mishandled or scratched when we got to DC. They helped us unpack and didn't leave until everything was where we wanted it to be - John even offered to help me set up my highchair! From four months ago (April 8th, 2016) to today (August 3rd, 2016), Plycon delivered my Maitland Smith Antique Center Table 3 times, each time in a worse condition than the previous. The table surface is completely tilted, with two table legs detached from the main center support. I tried to refuse delivery since they've broken the table during dispatch, but I was told the table can be "repaired", thus I have to take back the broken table. They claim to fix it - thus the second and third delivery, but still broken when delivered. The third time was the worst, a beautiful antique table is ruined, and I'm stuck with it. While I tried to communicate with the admin about the situation over a four months period of time, a lady named Donna keeps on trying to speak over me and interrupting me by repetetively calling me "Honey" in a condescending way. Not only is her tone disrespectful, when there is a conflict of interest and I try to reach her, she would hung up on me on multiple accounts, and wouldn't pick up the phone when I call back. This is the most unprofessional admin I have ever encountered in my whole life. I had to speak to her boss, who I did get a hold of once, and was never able to again ever since. Then I was referred to their New York Office, where I get to speak to another admin lady once, and was never able to get a hold of ever since. When I complain to the superiors about how Donna is very unprofessional and a waste of my time, I simply got a response saying "she is very green, she does not know what she's doing".... I guess that would justify all the inconveniences and the ordeal that I had to deal with over a four months period of time. Each time the delivery crew suppose to show up, they don't. In addition, I don't hear from anyone following up with the reason of the no show. A week later, they'd show up. With an attitude, and in an extreme rush, as well as a broken table - every single time. So to sum up, the admin staff is just plain terrible, the delivery crew has no sense of date and time, and a bad attitude. We exchanged several e-mails where his tone became less and less helpful. When I attempted to make a complaint, and asked for his supervisor's name, he told me that there was no one above him. The piece Plycon moved for me was an $8,000 dresser from Niermann Weeks which had a multi-layered, delicate finish. They did not blanket wrap my piece and left it entirely exposed during moving which resulted in several large chips which cannot be repaired. They wrapped plastic wrap around the drawers to keep them from coming out without first putting paper under the wrap and only draped a blanket over the piece. I wrote to the manager of the NY store explaining my frustration and got a one word response "understood". Clearly these people do not care about customer satisfaction. read more
