My husband found this location of Po-Boy Express back when he was reading utility meters. It looks kind of like a hole in the wall, but the food is fantastic! Their po-boys are served on bread that's just slightly pressed, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The shrimp po-boy is my favorite, but they've got a good variety of po-boy options if seafood isn't your thing. And it's not just po-boys. My picky teenager was quite pleased with their chicken strips and now asks to go back to Po-Boy Express. Everything I've had there has been prepared to order and tastes great. It's not terribly convenient for us since we live on the Westside, but if we're across the river in Baton Rouge for the day, we're likely to grab lunch here. Good food and good service gets five stars from me.

As it is lent and Friday, I ordered the fish po-boy for delivery through Ubereats, the po-boy almost made me Protestant, it was the most plain catfish po-boy I have ever ate. Go else where for your catfish po-boy.

I know this place is a chain, though I think it's only a local one (Baton Rouge and maybe a couple of surrounding towns), and I'm not the biggest fan of chains but until someone proves otherwise, Po-Boy Express has the best po-boys in B.R. The bread, although slightly pressed, is stupendous. Soft, which is how your po-boy bread (French loaf) should be. Hard, tough, chewy, too crispy.....all of those are cardinal sins and in that regard, Po-Boy Express is sinless. The second, and equally as important, part of a po-boy is the "insides".......the meat and vegetables. Well, my favorite po-boy has always been the shrimp and Po-Boy Express does this justice and much more. The shrimp are tasty enough to eat by themselves. Seriously. You could take 'em all off the sandwich, act as if you bought a shrimp platter and be completely satisfied. And they PILE dem thangs on there like it ain't nobody's business. One of the marks of an outstanding po-boy is an abundance of meat and this place excels in that department. Shrimp were BUSTING out the sides of mine. My hot sausage po-boy had a nice amount of meat as well. The lettuce.....the tomato.......everything about my po-boys made me miss home as soon as I hit the interstate to head back to FL. They were so good, I had to get another right before leaving. If someone in Baton Rouge knows of a joint that serves better po-boys, let me know. Until then, I'll have to keep singing the praises of Po-Boy Express.

After reading reviews I had to try the shrimp po boy! I don't think there was a whole lot of seasoning or unique flavors but the shrimp was very fresh and the veggies were crisp. Bring your appetite because it's hard to finish a small order.. I couldn't. The staff was very friendly and polite. I went in when they were closing and they were cleaning the entire time, smelt very fresh (like bleach and fabuloso). Prices were average and food was tasty. Can't ask for much more.

Worst roast beef poboy I have ever had. Gave it 2 stars because the fried seafood is fair.

On our mini BR trip my friend and I were searching for a place to eat and Valley Wings was a place…read moreclose by that popped up on Yelp. They did not disappoint at all. The service was great (S/o to Macy and the man at the front counter who I'm assuming is the owner). When I asked for more information on certain flavors and how good they were, the server was extremely honest especially when it came to the valley bread. The owner also gave us free samples of the valley bread (first picture below) which is a fresh garlic and Parmesan bread. The vibes were definitely there. Back to the Future and Jurassic Park were playing on the tv, and the writing on the walls gave a unique touch. It kept us entertained by reading different names and sayings. NOW TO THE FOOD!! The pink lemonade was good. It wasn't overly sweet which I love. The kool-aid (not pictured),on the other hand, could have used more sugar personally. There was also blue raspberry lemonade which we didn't try. I appreciated that these drinks were additional options besides the traditional coke products that they do have. The death valley meal was a 12 wing combo w/ fries and a drink. My friend decided on garlic parmesan and the valley sauce as her two flavors. The valley sauce was a light, sticky bbq sauce. It was amazing compared to traditional bbq sauced wings. The sauce wasn't over powering like traditional bbq sauce making the eating experience way better. Now that garlic parmesan?!!! Nothing like wingstop for sure. It's hard to explain but it taste exactly like garlic and parmesan. It doesn't taste fake like other garlic parmesan flavors. One thing I really appreciate about this business is their use of fresh garlic because it's not hard to miss. It adds an extra spark to their dishes. My 10 piece combo with half lemon pepper and honey hot was equally amazing. That flavor was unexplainable!! Usually when I get honey hot (or hot honey) it's always too sweet with no kick. Valley Wings honey hot was a perfect mix of both. The "kick" really got my friend, but for a regular spice consumer this would be great for you. The lemon pepper in my option lacked. I don't know if they didn't put enough season on it or my taste buds were off from the other previous flavors, but I barely tasted any lemon pepper. It was still good chicken but the flavor wasn't present. The regular and Cajun fries had a nice crunch to them but nothing special. They do offer a lot of loaded fry options that looked and sound amazing like chicken Alfredo, Cajun shrimp Alfredo, etc. Definitely another BR go-to restaurants on my list. Pink lemonade: 8/10 Garlic Parmesan: 9.5/10 Valley sauce: 8.5/10 Lemon pepper: 5/10 Honey hot: 9/10 Cajun fries: 5/10

The rest of the story: My first experience with the Blue Store was at the location closest to Southern University and the wings were nothing short of amazing! This location has the same succulent, crispy wings that I fell in love with. They have thighs and breasts too, listed on the menu as "other parts". The fries and potato logs are decent and serve as menu filler, in my estimation. The star is the chicken. This is not the place you come with a larger group to sit down and have a meal. There's no space for all that. Step up to the counter. Ogle the delicious chicken posing in the window of the heat tray, tell the cashier how many wings or "other parts" you want, add some sides if you need some filler and then wait a very short minute while they hand your order to you, tantalizingly hot and tasty. If you're like me, with eyes bigger than your stomach, never fear! Pop these wings in the oven for a few mins the next day and they crisp right up and that flavor is still on-point! This one goes straight to the top of the list of favorites!

The crawfish pie was amazing and filled with crawfish and the holy Trinity. I could taste crawfish with every bite. The crawfish boudin was also good, and seasoned well, but I didn't really notice crawfish when I bit into it. The potato was alright, but too potato-y in the end for me. I think I would just stick with the wings, crawfish pie, and crawfish boudin next time. The food is delicious and prices are cheap. Fast service.

Very interested to see how this place works when it's busy. But more on that later…read more Like half of the folks who have reviewed I had sweet heat and lemon pepper wings and fries. Fries were salted with some Cajun spice mix. They could have gone lighter but the fries weren't greasy so no points off from me. The wings were good. Just the right size so you don't have to worry how pumped up on steroids the chickens were before they gave their life for our consumption. Skin was crispy. The spices/sauces were delicious especially the sweet heat, such a nice sneaky little heat. So back to my initial thought it did take some time for the food to come although there were on three other tables. Not a full down of the game but some time. Also they could have been slammed with mobile orders. Who knows? Food was fresh and hot so I am willing to go again but I feel like if I walked in and it was busy and I was hungry I would walk out.

Based on a recommendation from a neighbor I decide to stop by this establishment to pick up lunch…read moretoday. It was after 1:15 pm and there where no other customers as I arrived, although 4 came while I was waiting for my meal. I decided to opt for chicken tenders and the shrimp fried rice, again both were recommended by a neighbor. The chicken tenders were among the smallest chicken tenders I've ever gotten (see photo). Also I appreciate the fact that it wasn't loaded with tons of breading as some of the convenience store frozen chicken tenders are, but they were overcooked, dry, and absolutely bland with practically no seasoning or flavor. I'm on a salt restricted diet so I appreciate a place that isn't heavy-handed with the salt, but you don't have to use tons of salt to season food well. This tasted like they literally dredged it in flour and fried it with no seasoning at all...and THEN overcooked it. So between the size of the chicken tenders, the coating and bad execution in the fry hamper - sadly I have to say these are among the worst chicken tenders I've had anywhere. Now as for the fried rice, I was less disappointed with that. They gave you a pretty good size of fried rice for $4.50 and although the shrimp were itsy bitsy tiny there were enough that you could see them in the fried rice along with some carrots and fried egg. But again, seasoning was somewhat lacking - and - as tends to be true with a lot of places that make fried rice it was a little on the greasy side. Better outcome on the fried rice than the chicken tenders (which was a complete fail), but I'm not sure I'll try this particular establishment again based on this disappointment.
