I'm here in the area for a conference. My husband wanted to try a po boy from here so I stopped. I ordered a fish po boy with the dressing on the side, fries, a drink and two bags of chips. The service was pretty fast and the Poboy looked like it should have. However, we had a bag full of ketchup and no mayo so the sandwich had to be eaten as is and it was extremely dry. Also, my chips were missing out of the bag. When I went back to get my chips and let them know, they had left the mayo out all I kept getting was the basic apology and sorry about that. The person at the front who took my order (unfortunately I did not get her name) was not listening to what I had to say. She just kept saying that she apologize and blamed it on the kitchen. However, the condiments and my chips were at the front so it was not the kitchen's fault. Although the fish was good and plentiful, it's hard to eat a dry sandwich and if I were to visit again, I will have to double and triple check to make sure that all of my items are in the bag. The poboy is definitely NOT a New Orleans Poboy. Cashier whose name I didn't get was very inviting and friendly. The restaurant was cleaned and well kept. Great customer service and the food came out fresh and hot. I know better to compare food anywhere to Nola food , just not go happen. However the Philly shrimp sandwich had a good taste. Bread was soft and kinda buttery, didn't get a taste of a real Nola French bread. It's Not overstuffed and had maybe 10 shrimps so that was a little disappointing. Overall we enjoyed the food . Food is always good. Pretty quick with the food. Their shrimp poboy and fries are good. Their crawfish pies are some of my favorites. I love all the extra condiments they have to dress up the poboy. I ordered large roast beef and it came out fast. It was dressed in soft toasted French bread and good amount of thin sliced roast beef. Au Jous on the side and it was thick and strong! Didn't need all off it. Taste was good, very easy to eat large portions! All in all, good place for po boys. I want to try other item's, will go there again. I had a combo PoBoy with half shrimp and half oyster. Very good. The place was well laid out and nice and clean. Service was great. I would say the seasoning on the seafood was a little strong and I found the seafood over salted. Just me tho. Also the fried oysters were a little under cooked which made it not quite to my liking. Don't let the unassuming fast food look fool you. They make a legit shrimp Po-Boy here that won't break the bank. The shrimp where a good size and the breading was not overdone and flaky. i have always wanted to come here but never did because it is next to sonic. we went here in the drive thru, after leaving the worst place in baton rouge. we placed our order and got it fairly quick. but since we did not go in, i can't say about the service. we got a small shrimp poboy, a large shrimp poboy, and a hamburger steak plate. my dad enjoyed the hamburger steak, but said they put too many fries. go figure. i ate half of my small poboy which i thought was VERY good, and my preacher shared his with his wife and son. so really 4 people ate for under $40.00. now i have a problem. next time i am in the area to i go to the sit down inside sonic, or do i go back to poboy express. 8-) but i am very happy i finally went. read more

This is our first time trying poboy express. We were craving some poboy so thought why not try this place as one of my colleague recommended it. Tried to call to place a order but their phones came busy for around 20 mins straight. So went through the drive through to place the order and none of the prices were there, everything was placed as market price. They have 2 options for poboys regular and large (am not sure if they didnt put how long their sizes are or i overlooked it). Placed an order for one fried shrimp poboy, one shrimp Philly poboy and one chicken philly poboy all in large size. Was surprised with how much it cost. When i went home and opened it i realised why it cost so much. The large are actually quite large poboys. The taste is amazing.. they were cut into 4 portions each, so all of us tried all the different one. Each of us had a different one as a favorite. These poboys hit right at the spot for our cravings. It really hit the spot--and it was very fresh and flavorful. The fries were seasoned so no added salt was necessary. I didn't order gravy but appreciated the cup of gravy on the side--good for dipping the fries in. Finally, with today's ever-increasing food costs, there is good value for what you get. I have to tell you, this place is a "Win". Each time I go, I'm completely satisfied. The seafood is always fresh, served hot, and is very tasty. Never too salty like many other places. To add to that, the Staff is ALWAYS helpful and beyond friendly. I like oysters, and am usually disappointed when I order them, even at very expensive restaurants. But I'm never disappointed here. Great food and good service. The Lyft driver was courteous enough to give me a great recommendation before going to my hotel. It was super bowl Sunday and I had just landed. I was tired and ready to watch Justin timberlake do his show. I ordered a po boy and some bbq wings( that's Louisiana super bowl food, right!) I also go some sweet tea and went to my hotel. The wings were excellent and the shrimp on the po boy was cooked to perfection. The bread was good and soft. I was born & raised in Nola and needless to say grew up eating the best shrimp po-boys in the world at some really phenomenal po-boy restaurants (like Domilise's and Ye Olde College Inn). So... I am very, very picky about shrimp po-boys because of that. I now live in Baton Rouge and was pretty wary of eating at a place called "Po Boy Express", especially being a chain. A chain called "Express" just did not sound appealing for such a work of art as a shrimp po-boy. Well oh my lord, they could knock me down with a feather. Honestly their shrimp po-boys are absolutely delicious perfection. The shrimp have a THIN batter, which is my biggest critique of most po-boys outside of Nola. I want to taste the flavor of shrimp, not of some massively thick Red Lobster-esque batter. Moreover, the batter is perfectly seasoned - not too salty and with a light touch of black pepper. The bread is phenomenal - soft, just the way it's supposed to be. I always order it dressed (aka lettuce and tomato), no mayo or tartar, add ketchup and pickles - and I feel transported back home.
