For home cookin it's pretty good. It's always busy!!! The people are very nice and the food is pretty good!

My server was awesome! She helped me make a wise & so yummy lunch choice the other day ago. The Blue Ribbon Chicken was delicious, as we the Fried Green Tomatoes! Yeah, not really great food here... thought we'd give it a try regardless the 1-star prior rating. Starters were good, but the main course not very flavorful & the chicken-fried steak was more greasy than crunchy and quite bland. Moving on to the sides, the coleslaw tasted like it was made with beer and the potato salad tasted like the stuff from a grocery store deli, so not that tasty there either. Service was pretty good, but could be a little more attentive (glasses should never sit empty if the restaurant has a dedicated wait staff). Sorry Po Folks, better up your game before we come back again. Cheap, but the food was not that great and definitely not enough to draw us back. read more

Great for the price. Menu might be too big. Jack of all trades master of none. Popcorn shop was great. Biscuits had no salt to them. Chicken on the chicken sandwich wasn't marinated. Tasted like it was taken right off he yard and thrown in the grill with no seasoning. read more

The price was good and everything was still hot when it was delivered, but the whole meal was forgettable. I ordered the blue plate fried chicken with red beans & rice and mac & cheese. The beans had no flavor, the mac tasted like Velveeta (which probably isn't bad if you're into that sort of thing) and the fried chicken was only slightly crispy and under-seasoned. Perhaps my palate just isn't "mature" enough to appreciate the flavor profile. read more

I absolutely adore this place. We started with fried green tomatoes which were seasoned beautifully and came with a tasty sauce. I had a chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The lunch menu is very affordable. The hush puppies were crunchy and fresh. The waitress was friendly and the service was perfect. I will be back! read more

Great food. Fast Service. Always a good spot for any of the Yocal Locals. Cheap menu and a good ole' boggy bayou feel. Recommend grilled fish plate and also the country fried steak. I've been eating here for years and it's still surviving with all the locals that keep coming back for more. Po Folks is off the meat rack!!! We had not been to a PO Folks in many years. So were in the area and stopped here. We really wish we had kept going afterward. I don't know if they were just having an off day or what, but none of our food was any good. I had the country fried steak & my wife had the fried chicken, both were greasy & tasteless. Went to PoFolks while on vacation to MidBay Shores July 2016. Friendly staff, nice "kuntry" atmosphere. I had the pork chop & fried gizzard plate with black eyed peas & fried okra, my husband had the fried chicken plate with sides & my son had the chicken fried steak with sides. My pork chop was seasoned well and tasted delicious! Got a good helping of fried gizzards as well. We had dessert afterward & had the strawberry shortcake (it was alright), the Mississippi mud pie (son said it was good) & the hot fudge whatever it's called (husband said he would have ate that instead of the fried chicken plate. Overall experience was great! I recommend it. While there, a "regular" came in and he was an elderly gentleman. They have such good care to him. That let me know it was an alright place. read more

We were passing by and decided to stop. I'm glad we did! The food was amazing. The fried chicken and chicken livers were really good. The sweet tea was good, it wasn't too sweet. The food came out pretty fast. The servers were nice and patient, as we had never been here before. She was also with helping us. We would totally go back anytime we are in this area! read more

Did not even realize any of these still existed..at one time these were all over The South but they closed down most of them 20 years ago including the one in Fort Walton where Joe and Eddies is now located....these type restaurants fell out of favor when people started realizing that a menu full of fried foods may not be the best thing for your weight..blood pressure..heart..etc..stopped by this store a few times recently and it was just like I remember all Po Folks being..menu completely full of fried food(their motto could be if it's not moving we will fry it..and we might even fry it if it's moving as well)...store is kind of dirty and has that greasy "feel" inside and the restaurant is packed with seniors and families with young kids because the menu prices are reasonable...if you come here you know exactly what you are going to get; a fried entrée with 2 sides from a selection of about 20 sides...basically your classic Southern Meat and Two or Three at a very reasonable price...some of the better entrees are the fried chicken..fried pork chops...country fried steak..etc....one of the best non fried entree options I would recommend would be the chicken and dumplings..and a visit to Po Folks would not be complete without one of their buttery biscuits. ..service is pretty good in this store and the management is top notch as they stop by your table a few times when you are there...is it the greatest food in the world?..NO....is it the best thing for you to eat if your trying to stay healthy??..HELL NO!!..but you know what??..something about some good fried food with some Southern Sides hits the spot and is the perfect food call on a cold winter night in North Florida...just don't do it to often unless you want to go up 4 sizes on your waist size on your pants!! read more

Been coming here for 20+years food is fresh and retains the down home flavor The menu stays the same not a fancy or large building, kept same atmosphere and excellent staff. Use the drive thru mainly and food is ready and hot. staff even gives the dog treats before I am waited on! Never a problem leastways no more any other restaurant. So gross. My husband & I both got the country fried steak. It was scary! It was a mystery meat patty that was breaded and fried. I took ONE bite and couldn't eat anymore. Hubby only took a few bites before he was done. The Mac and cheese was worse than fake microwave mac and cheese. The mashed potatoes tasted like they got them from a public school cafeteria. Not good. The service was fast & friendly though, so I'll give them that. Other than that, horrible. We will never be back. read more

We first went here about 5 yrs ago, and it was great; stopped going about 2 yrs ago as the quality of food greatly decreased. Went back for the first time tonight. Service and cleanliness were great. Food - meh. Nothing to write home about. My son liked his chicken strips, and my fried chicken was good, but everything else was just bland.
