We have eaten several times here and it was better. Tonight the service was poor, waitress didn't bring utensils, brought small juice glasses for water about 3 sips no room for ice, did not offer bread had to request it. Steaks were over seasoned with salt and we should have sent them back. We told the waitress the meat was too salty and she replied they were training new cooks and thanks for understanding. Never going back. We were served the worst looking $24 dinner I have ever seen. Told the waitress we were going to split the "Southern Fried Chicken Dinner" for $24. When it arrived, it was shameful. I ended up giving the whole breast and 90% of the sides to my wife who has dementia. In contrast, we go to MELS DINER and get their chicken dinner for $14. Made a reservation for 3 for our son's birthday. At the last minute the rest of our family wanted to go so I had to change our reservation on short notice to 7 people and they had no problem accommodating us. We were seated right away when we arrived. My daughter and I had a smoky coconut drink, which was really good. My husband had the blood orange margarita and said it was outstanding. For entrees, I had the seafood risotto, my husband had the P57 filet , our son had the cape royal burger (which he finished off fast) and the rest of our party had the cast iron ribeye. I almost forgot about the Billionaires Bacon my son in law ordered. He gave us each a little bite but wouldn't share most of it. I don't blame him. That was great! Something isn't right here, this place use to be amazing. The restaurant was empty, which should have been my first clue. Just had brunch and all 4 of our meals were nothing I'd order again. We used to go to their "sister" restaurant in town which is now closed. We had liked it a lot -- especially since it was so close to where we used to stay -- but also because of a couple signature dishes we fell in love with. Back in town to visit friends, and on our own one night, we decided to check this place out. We didn't have reservations, but luckily we were early enough to find two seats at the bar. If you sit at the bar or in the bar area, you're also able to take advantage of their happy hour specials in both food and drink. They were packed inside and there were folks waiting for seats on their outside patio. Although most of the staff was wearing masks, not always correctly, most of the patrons did not. So if this is a concern for you, do wait until you're fully vaccinated to stop by. They were also a tad short staffed as are most restaurants today, but everyone working was really hustling. And the bar was doing a booming business, this being a heavy drinking town. They have a number of very different and innovative cocktails if you like trying new drinks. We did order one item off the HH menu -- their shrimp boil. There were 6 very large ruby red peel n eat shrimp with corn pieces and boiled potatoes. Melted butter was on the side. We didn't taste any of the old bay -- which would have made it better -- but with an added touch of salt, we liked the dish, especially the shrimp. It was a nice starter. For dinner, my husband got their beef stroganoff. It had small chunks of beef and mushrooms in a creamy sour cream and fresh dill sauce over egg noodles. I opted for their crab cake appetizer. It was two small crab cakes with fingerling potatoes (my favorites are the purple ones). I got the remoulade sauce on the side. For dessert, I tried their creme brûlée. The "seasonal berries" turned out to be one large blackberry. The berry was on top of a mound of whipped cream. It was a good sweet ending. Not everything we had was spectacular -- it ranged from good to very good -- but the overall experience was still 5 star. And kudos to the staff who gave it their all. I definitely want to go back to try some of their other dishes -- like one of their steaks. And my husband has his eye on their pork shank. read more

Went there the other night and was disappointed. We were seated near the bar and waited quite a while to get service. Once the waitress arrived she was fabulous. We had the mushroom appetizer and it was really good. I had the carbonara and it was OK, but lack sauce. Our daughter had the stroganoff and it was really good. We had a wonderful dining experience. The portions were generous and delicious. Our meal began with the crispy calamari, stuffed mushrooms and billionaires bacon. For the main course, two of our party had the grouper over shrimp risotto, which they declared excellent. The short rib risotto was phenomenal and fork tender. The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly. Went here on a busy valentines weekend. Where they seated us at first was kind of an odd placement in the center of the restaurant, I asked for outdoor seating instead but thereceptionist told me you have to specifically reserve it, so no dice there. But we did get a booth on the right hand side so that wasn't as bad. The food itself was great. Started off with cocktails, I got a black walnut old fashioned which was really smooth and a nice sweetness and complexity of flavor. Then Caesar salad which had some bomb garlicky croutons. My main dish was awesome, steak and mashed potatoes with some green beans in garlic butter. I didn't much care for the blue cheese sauce so I left that alone mostly. The steak is good on its own anyway, well seasoned. Tip: add a shrimp skewer for a nice surf and turf experience. Finally we got dessert, black Cherry cheesecake which was big and had a nice crust. Overall solid with great service from the waitress once we got sat at the booth and fantastic food. Was on the fence about four or five stars due to the weird beginning and not being able to sit outside but kept it at five. The staff were all very nice and they accommodated us even when we showed up 30 minutes late for our reservation due to a car accident on the road. The portions are just the right size and for the first time ever, my whole family finished their meals! Everyone enjoyed their dishes. I got the beef stroganoff which tasted great, though I wish there was less sour cream on top as I felt it ruined the flavor of the dish. For dessert, we got the banana bread pudding with comes with flambéd bananas on the size. Absolutely wonderful. Overall, this was a solid restaurant to eat at. Not a standout, but by no means bad. Stumbled on this place while looking for dinner on a Monday night. Too bad they ran out of their Syrf and Turf earlier in the evening. We got seated in 30 mins, but I think reservations were recommended. I had the shrimp and grits, which was fabulous. Shrimp were large and plenty. Took about 1/3 home. My girlfriend had Shrimp Scampi and said it was fabulous. No leftovers came home. My husband had the Salmon. He devoured it. He didn't care for the crab that was part of the meal but enjoyed it overall. We took a piece of Key Lime Pie home and the husband said it was delicious. Too bad next Monday is a holiday. We would have been back for the Surf and Turf. We will be gone from the area after the holidays. Service was good. However the kitchen was slow because they were so busy. Go early.
