Evelyn and Dr.Kim are the best dental care team I would never trust anyone else with my dental care!

BEWARE--July 2026 experience--I am highly disappointed in my experience with Dr. Kim and Pointe North Dental, and it all boils down to a failure of communication. My review pertains solely to Dr. Kim and not the staff, who were lovely and professional on all fronts. I visited in late March due to sensitivity in one of my teeth. Upon a visual inspection, I was told my teeth were in great shape. After my x-ray, I was surprised to learn the dentist felt I needed some level of filling or work on 10 different teeth. Granted, I had slipped on dental visits for the past 2 years, but generally take great care of my teeth. I have never in my life needed this much dental work. Ironically, the doctor did not see any issues with the one tooth I went in for that I was having sensitivity with (which should have been my first red flag). I figured, fine, the x-rays show more than the eye can see, and you are a professional with good reviews, so I am going to trust that doing work on 10 teeth was the best way to protect myself before any issues got worse. I deeply regret this decision. I went for several different visits to complete the work. Communication was VERY minimal from the doctor. He likes to walk in, say a few words, and get to work. I asked why exactly my teeth needed this much work, and asked him to point out the problem areas on the x-rays, which he was only able to explain vaguely. He was unable to clearly articulate the severity of the issues for each tooth and provide any options as to "this one is an emergency vs. this would be nice to get ahead of." Maybe his x-rays are bad because he is too cheap to invest in the latest tech. Maybe he just doesn't think his patients are smart or deserve that sort of consultative experience. Again, none of the 10 teeth he worked on were in any pain or sensitivity. Against my instinct, and being a low maintenance person, I just let him do all of the work and trusted the process. I had to go back to this dentist FOUR different times after the work was done to make adjustments to the teeth he worked on due to pain and discomfort. At first, the "bite" on two of the fillings felt wrong and the pain lingered for weeks. He adjust those, fine, easy adjustments--happens sometimes. Then, I began to notice pain and sensitivity in two of my teeth where he had done fillings in between the teeth. I went back in for adjustments and after he tried his best, he said that one of the fillings wasn't done properly and "sometimes this happens." He also was unable to explain what was wrong with the second painful filling but said "it looked fine." How can something be fine if I feel pain after YOU worked on this tooth. Without any explanation, he asked his assistant to numb me again to do one of the same fillings again. Clearly, he knew he did the work wrong the first time but didn't want to admit it. I stopped him--this was now my FOURTH visit to adjust the work that he should have gotten right the first time. Why should I trust him to do the work again? He failed to clearly explain the reason why this filling failed or what he did wrong. I walked out and never will return. When I go to a professional, I expect them to get it right the first time. If, for some reason, he did not have confidence in his skill level to work on my fillings, he should have expressed it upfront so I could get a second opinion. If my fillings were hard to do, he should have explained upfront that "sometimes, working on this spot of the tooth may result in a failure and I may have to repeat the work." There was no explanation at all. My mouth is NOT an experiment, your patients are humans who deserve communication. I will never work with this dentist again, nor would I trust him with any friends or family. There is also an awkward dynamic in the office between his staff and him--I'd imagine a dentist who can't adequately communicate to patients probably isn't a great boss either. Perhaps his years of experience have resulted in complacency and a failure to recognize that he is working on people who deserve communication about their care and options. In Vegas, there is a dentist on every corner--I highly recommend going to another one. read more

I'm a new patient here after having "issues" with another local provider. Dr. Kim came highly recommended by a good friend and I'm so happy I'm here. With the previous provider, I was told I needed a LOT of work adding upto a lot of $$$. Turns out I did not need any of the work which I was sure I didn't need. Well if you can get past the thick attitude at the front desk maybe it is worth it. They run an insurance scam with x rays. So when you pay cash they insist you pay for them. Most people do not need to have X rays with cleanings unless you request it. You may have your own views on the radiation received during these unnecessary procedures. I went to this office upon my wife's recommendation ... I'm retired & I just wanted a filling .... I specifically told them that I came here for filling & nothing else ... I was told that it's standard procedure to get X-Rays ... After the X-Rays, they started recommending this & that & even a crown is needed ... I admit my whole dentures is a messed but I'm not interested in those procedures no more ... All I need is a filling ... Dr Kim told me that it would take at least 3 weeks to get approved w/c I agreed ... Later on, the lady who was assisting the Dr told me that they can do the filling today ... My share of cost would be $ 105,00 dollars ... I questioned it since my insurance covers 80% of the cost w/c will lead to a total cost of over $ 1000,00 dollars for 1 filling ... They are overcharging my Insurance ... Now, it turned out to be a SCAM ... this office only will do procedures if they can milk your Insurance w boat loads of money but they will not do simple filling ... I am retired & cannot afford those share of cost no more ... This place takes advantage of people like us ... My wife is having a procedure w/ them w/c will require to charge our insurance tens of thousands of dollars & her share of cost is only $ 200.00 ... Now U do the math ... Dr Kim is a hoax ... He is not as empathy as u think he is ... Dr Kim is just there for the money & not the for the good of his patients ... It was supposed to be a simple filling & they are greedy & wanted to milk my Insurance .... They will charge my Insurance for those X-Rays but they will not do my filling unless I pay my share of cost w/c I think is too much for 1 filling .... BEWARE of this DENTAL PLACE .... Need new dentures? You may want to avoid this office. I believe the first impression that was taken for my new dentures was done incorrectly. My old dentures were used for the mold before sending it to the lab. A metal try filled with the goop is normally used. It went further downhill from there. Three relines did nothing but make my dentures fatter and fatter on the inside.. My last visit today. They are a mess and will never fit correctly. They are are about three times the thickness of my old dentures. It would have been nice if Dr. Kim had admitted his mistake and started over after the first fitting. Need dentures? Maybe go to one that has their own lab instead of outsourcing the work. Upon leaving today I canceled our appointments in January for cleaning and X-rays. read more

My first visit here I went in to get my teeth cleaned they were all very nice and found out i had to get cavities removed and sealants. Came back for my second appoitment and it was all going well they lasered off my cavities which is kinda cool so they didn't have to numb me up. The DR shaved off part of my tooth for unknown reason and it was so painful I cried. The dental assistant was borderline gagging me with the suction tool and a few days after my visit i have a giant canker sore in the back of my throat from it. It sucks they were really nice but i don't want to go back. The visit was only 30 mins to get my 4 cavities off and sealed. read more

Went in for my 6 month cleaning as I have for years. Changed insurance plans 1st of year and there were problems with the switch @ their office. Eventually someone explained my $50 deductible. I paid $48 for the cleaning in March & was told I would only pay $2 for my September cleaning. September 19th I arrived early but didn't get taken back until 20 minutes after my appointment time. Was told it was because they were verifying my insurance. After cleaning, was scheduling next cleaning when they informed me that I was "out of network" and owed about $130 instead of $2!!! After getting home I called my dental insurance and they were shocked that I was not told that before they performed the services. Called the dentist office next day & they said it was my responsibility to know how much it would cost!? I can't believe they can perform services on a patient without an estimated cost! They do whatever they want and then charge you what they want. If vehicle repair shop operated like this, they would soon be out of business, as that practice is illegal. After talking to a representative of the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners, the "sleight of hand" Pointe North Dental pulled on me is legal. It is a pretty common practice among your less scrupulous dentists. After also expressing my concerns about the amount of X-rays being done to me, he agreed that I definitely don't need that many X-rays given my situation. I love love love loveeee Dr. Kim. But i am writing this review based on the office staff. They have a promo where you get a starbucks gift card if you leave a review on yelp. Last time i did it they didnt have any. Dr kim went out and got some more and even gave me an extra one for coming down to get it! This previous time i was there about two weeks ago, again, they didnt have any. I didnt sweat it because i thought they would take care of it quickly like last time. It has now been three weeks of me calling them to see if they have gotten them. All they tell me is "oh not yet, well give you a call when we get some more"....... Its been THREE weeks. I called today and simply told me they passed on my email to Dr. kim. Like, okay? What am i supposed to do with that? I know this seems stupid to be so angry about, but i am a college student with not alot of cash handy. I gotta make sure i get my freebies. I will try to be as thorough as possible with this review to help whoever is reading this be informed and make the best decisions. My experience with the front lady was the same as the other review on Google Maps by Jae Park. In short, Dr. Kim is professional, apt, and courteous. However his employee (front office manager, black lady, chubby, medium length black hair in a ponytail) proved to be incompetent, unprofessional, and vindictive. She changed my appt time without my consent, only a day in advance. She tried to bill me for a $900 procedure instead of the $60 procedure I agreed to the week prior (incompetent). She lied saying payment was due now, when the paperwork clearly says I have 30 days. She also lied to Dr. Kim telling him I didn't want to pay (unprofessional). And last but not least, she canceled my account (or said she was cancelling my patient account), without my consent (vindictive). Her assistant said her name was "T.Y."... apparently she doesn't want you knowing her name. So now I'll dive into the details. Here is some background on me to give you context. I'm a happily married man of 7 years, have a beautiful and smart wife, no kids yet, in business for myself now for 11 years now. I called Las Vegas area dental offices to find an honest, technologically advanced office that would take care of a crown that came off. I spoke to this office on the phone and it initially sounded promising. So I scheduled an appointment (Oct 12, 2020). No issues with "T.Y." at first, other than her making my wife wait in the car (covid rules.. legit, ok). I see Dr Kim and his back office assistants... all great, no complaints. Dr Kim advises a full permanent crown replacement, but I choose the less expensive (shorter term) route of just doing a recement - much cheaper than a permanent crown replacement. (My insurance wouldn't cover it until next year). Dr Kim does what any other business man would do.. try to UPSELL you into getting something you might not need, especially if you already take extra care of your teeth. But his upsell approach was professional, not rude or belittling, so no issues there. So I decide to hold off on any procedure for now, and I go to the back window of the front office, where T.Y. is, to settle my balance. She explains my insurance covered the visit, and I didn't owe anything (they get this info upfront to make sure you have good insurance before even seeing you, to make sure they will get paid). I then explain I'd like to schedule another appointment next week just for a re-cement. Cool.. Then I ask for a copy of my x-rays. She refuses, saying it's $25. I ask to email it. She refuses, saying it's $25. So I'm thinking, ok, I've done this in the past with their sister location, sounds ridiculous - I can't get a copy of something I already paid for? LOL. Ok cool, maybe it's a policy change, cool. I ask her to show me the policy in writing. She refuses. Wow. Here is where I think she starts going downhill. I tell her to check with the other office location.. She refuses. So I take matters into my own hands, understanding HIPAA rule 45 CFR 164.524, I have a right to copies of my x-rays, so I take a phone pic of my x-rays that were still up on the monitor where Dr. Kim took care of me. I go back to the back-window.. T.Y. doesn't like that LOL. She throws some HIPAA privacy violation at me. I shrug it off, grab my stuff and go. (It's not about the $25 .. it's about principle. Show me this policy you speak of lol. She took the "employee is always right approach," and showed her laziness). A day before I'm scheduled to come in for my next visit, I get a text saying my appointment has been moved up by several hours, WITHOUT MY CONSENT. After no response to my text response, I call the office to get confirmation of my "new" appt time. Cool. Day of appt... I walk into the front office. T.Y. has no eye contact with me.. so obviously she's still mad, maybe because I was able to still take the appt that she changed thinking I couldn't make it (vindictive). Her two assistants (bless their hearts), greet me with a surprise bill. $903, including a deductible from last visit that they failed to tell me about. (After speaking to my insurance, Blue Cross, they said it's a courtesy for the dentist office to tell me I will have to pay a deductible on my next visit.. well this office failed at that courtesy). The rest was for the larger permanent crown procedure that I DID NOT AGREE TO. All of this falls under T.Y.'s responsibility. Her job was to schedule me for the lower cost $60 procedure, a job she failed at. They talk among themselves... then try to bill me for a 3rd.... I have been coming to Dr.Kim for over 15 years, I have had a couple of extractions and implants done aside from my check up and cleanings, I have always been completely 100% satisfied, from the moment you walk in you get welcoming smiles and you can tell the level of professionalism and team work in the office. Dr. Kim has ALWAYS been straight up, direct and the point and the man has a very soft touch when he is working on you but also a firm handshake (that means a lot to me) I have referred several friends to him and everyone to this day still thank me for doing so. Is there a way to give less than 1 star? If there were, these guys would only get 1/2 a star!!! Went into this office on 10/28 to have a root canal done (before I left on vacation). Explained that I didn't have insurance, but was eligible for insurance on 11/1. Asked if they could bill for services rendered on 10/28 to my CareCredit account (to pay them in full) and the remainder on 11/10, the date of my follow up visit. They told me they could do that and proceeded to process the services and payment to my CareCredit card, and also took my insurance information (which I had available as a result of just signing up through my employer). Yesterday, I received an EOB from my dental plan indicating that they billed the ENTIRE procedure on 10/28 and none of the services will be covered under insurance. When I called the office, they said that they ordered all the services on 10/28 and that's how they're getting billed. Now I'm on the hook for over $2000 worth of dental work that I could have had taken care of with insurance, but these greedy bastards want to get paid the full amount, versus what would've been negotiated from an insurance company. This is clearly a bait and switch. They KNEW that I was willing to wait for services to be covered by my impending insurance coverage, but LIED to me and told me they would split the charges out knowing that they would not do it. I will NEVER EVER EVER use this dentist again. Take a look around, Las Vegas. There's a dentist office on every corner...I'm confident I can find one that will give me the care I need, as well as the customer service I expect. Finished with Point North Dental. It is a rare thing for me to give a perfect score. It was my first visit here and my first dental checkup in 6 years. There was no judgement, no nonsense, no up- selling, only awesome, friendly, professional, staff getting down to business, informing and educating every step of the way. I needed 8 cavities filled after my cleaning. It took Dr Kim about 10 minutes from numbing me up (great hands with a syringe. I Didn't feel a thing), until I was up and on my way! I have been going to Dr. Kim for years. Today I found out that I could write an online comment about my experiences with him, so here goes. I trust Dr. Kim. I not only trust him to do good work, but I trust him not to force partially or wholly unnecessary work on me just so he can make more money. That's important, but of course, that kind of trust is meaningless without the other kind of trust: trust that he will do excellent dental work. And so he does; at least I have no complaints. Dr. Kim has done a number of fillings and crowns for me, and they all are just fine, even years later. I'm a happy camper/patient. I haven't been to another dentist in so many years. I like Dr. Kim, his staff, and their dental work. I have no qualms about recommending Pointe North Dental. read more

We have been going to Dr. Kim for years. The office staff is great, pleasant and accommodating...i have never had difficulty getting an appointment. Not only is Dr. Kim our dentist but he has also done my kids braces. He is a perfectionist! Need I say how my daughter's teeth turned out? My son just started the process. He is the only dentist that I have gone to that was successfully able to numb my mouth so that my experience was painless! We love him!! read more
