Tiny portion of spicy tuna. Barely counts as one bite.
    Candy W.

This is the worst poke bowl I've ever had in my life. Their "large" portion is the size of a regular portion at other places. Not only that but their sauce is not good and the bowl overall is very bland and sad looking. Look at the scoop of spicy tuna which counts as 1 protein. It's literally a third of the size of other places. The spicy tuna is tasteless and the crab salad is shredded imitation crab without any sauce or seasoning. I tried calling multiple times to make sure that they didn't give me the wrong order but their phone doesn't work. I am so upset that I ordered 3 bowls Togo just to be met with disappointment. I'm never coming here again and warning those of you who love poke to not come here.

Came for Saturday lunch. Parking can be difficult with lots filling up and finding street parking. The poke stall is inside a small grocery store Ava's but it was empty when I got there. Service was quick and friendly and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. 8/10 Large Bowl $ - half rice/salad, 4 proteins (tuna x2, salmon, scallop), bunch of toppings, sauces and come with miso soup which was just ok. Fish was all fresh and mixed well in their sauces! Portion size is ok for the price. Notable adds were the crunchy toppings (garlic and onions), pineapples, imitation crab, seaweed salad, and spicy aioli sauce. Recommend getting this bowl for value and splitting with a friend.

I've heard great things about this place and decided to try it out. Unfortunately, my experience didn't line up with what I've heard. The rating is solely based on the food. There was nothing wrong with the staff, cleanliness, location, etc. Now onto the food. I ordered a large poke bowl with several toppings, and got a free "miso soup". At $24 this combo is relatively expensive. The two things that really stood out to me were: 1) the miso soup was just warm water with green onions. They must have forgotten the miso flavoring? I took a large gulp and just got some warm water, which caught me off guard. 2) what is their spicy tuna? I was expecting chunks of tuna with spicy sauce. Instead, I got ground-up fish that *might* be tuna, mixed with a lot of fish eggs (which I hate). Overall, the portions are pretty big and the salmon is good. But half of my bowl being spicy tuna and flavorless miso soup kind of ruined this place for me.

Poke Bar is tucked away in a market located downtown Mountain View. The girl that helped me was super nice and the fish portions are pretty good and generous. There was no line so I was quickly able to order and get my bowl. Most of the ingredients are pretty fresh except the avocado that was starting to brown a little bit- that could be because I came towards the end of the day. They have tables outside the market so you can sit down and enjoy. Do recommend coming here for a quick meal! Hopefully the avocado is freshly cut next time

Large portions, solid service, but a miss for me. There's a few tables outside to eat at, but no indoor seating. Grabbed two bowls, a small and a large. I don't like being a contrarian when others seem to really like this place, but the ingredients didn't seem that fresh when I visited. While the poke bowls were packed to the brim, this was the first time I didn't want to finish my poke bowl, like ever. I love that this spot is well-loved but something about the taste/mix of the poke just wasn't good for me. Maybe I'll come back another time to give Poke Bar another go!

Good food, awesome service! Love the freedom of selecting all the toppings I like, and bring them home for a satisfying meal.

Great quality for the price and quantity they give!! I wasn't expecting such a huge bowl of fish and toppings but this could definitely be two whole meals worth of food. I love that some toppings that normally cost extra (seaweed salad and crab) comes with any bowl, and they are pretty generous loading up on toppings. The flavors sometimes get pretty salty, so I would try to balance the fish out with the sauce you pick, especially since the sauces are a hit or miss. It was in a small grocery store in Mountain View, so it's a little bit difficult to find, but once you know the spot, it's so easy to keep coming back. Because of this though, it's a bit hard to find accessible seating, so I had to walk pretty far to sit down and eat. Overall great spot, I always feel so healthy after getting poke, so this will become my new go-to quick lunch!

I got a small bowl and it was plenty for lunch, I felt very satisfied. Super fresh ingredients. The raw salmon melted in my mouth. I never had raw octopus, I tried it and the texture wasn't my favorite. The kale noodles were really unique, they had a nice chew and flavor to them. I asked for a sweet and salty sauce and the worker mixed too sauces for me and it tasted very good. He was really nice. $20 all together with a drink. You choose your base which can be up two things, up to two proteins and as many toppings as you like. It's a takeout counter within a grocery store and there are tables outside.

Great pricing, good topping options, but a bit salty. They season their rice heavily, and once you add any other sauces, it ends up being a sodium bomb. Located inside a little market, this place is easy to miss, but definitely worth a try. Crab salad, masago, and seaweed salad are free.

Got some takeout from here. Got 2 medium bowls. 3 scoops with white rice. The portions were huge, probably would've been fine with a small honestly! One complaint is that there just wasnt enough sauce. I wish they had tossed the fish in a bit more sauce, or if there was an option to add more sauce on the side. I just added some more kewpie sriracha mayo and soy sauce at home. Overall good for the price!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~ A M B I A N C E ~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Its a nice casual restaurant tucked away in Ava's Downtown Market in Downtown Mountain View/Castro Street! There is some outdoor seating, but it is not covered. You do get some a little bit of shade from a nearby tree. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~ F O O D ~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Small - 2 scoops of protein $11.50 Medium - 3 scoops of protein $13.50 Large - 4 scoops of protein $15.50 Choose between - Salmon, Ahi Tuna, Albacore Tuna, Scallops, Octopus, Shrimp, Spicy Tuna, and Tofu The BEST part is that seaweed salad is a standard side. You do NOT need to pay extra! WOOO! The Albacore was very peppery and had a very distinct but good flavor! The fish was fresh! The rice was still warm and fluffy! The imitation crab is plain imitation crab. It is not mixed with mayo or dressing or mashed, do not confuse with crab salad. It is simply shredded. Which is simple and delicious! Unagi sauce tastes just like what you would put on... UNAGI hahaha. If you like eel/unagi then I would ask for this sauce on the side! The PORTION SIZE IS AMAZING especially for what you pay for! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~ S E R V I C E ~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I got two large bowls the only thing different was the protein. Everything else was the same. [1] I requested Salmon, Ahi Tuna, Albacore Tuna, Scallops [2] I requested 2x Salmon, Ahi Tuna, Scallops Bowl [1] looked like it had a lot more fish than Bowl [2]. My husband and I debated and we placed our bets and weighed them. Bowl [1] was 1054 g and Bowl [2] was 950g. You can decide for yourself whether a 100g or 10% difference in weight is within the range of error/noise hahaha. Also both bowls some how ended up with Albacore Tuna, even though only one bowl requested Albacore.... Still delicious, but the order is still wrong. We didn't notice until we got home and started eating. Sad. Anyway, the cashier was nice and even offered us to put some of their new Unagi sauce on the side! Very sweet. We paid 10 cents for the bag, and then it promptly broke on us as soon as we walked out the door :( the bag also had a hole. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~ O V E R A L L ~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Regardless of the hiccups, we still love this place. Portions are big, fish is fresh, seaweed salad is included for free. When you order just make sure to order a different fish for each protein option rather than double/tripe up on one type of fish. This is so you don't get accidentally shorted a scoop of protein or end up with this 100g/10% difference in weight hahaha.

    Medium Poke Bowl

Pretty good poke bowl ... maybe the best I've had in the area. Fish was pretty fresh. Toppings were good. Nice to sit outside the store and enjoy the weather. I had to get a couple bottles of still water from the grocery store because the Poke Bar doesn't sell regular bottled water ... Service was OK.

Well, honestly, probably the worst oyster-eating-experience I've ever had. The oysters didn't taste great (honestly I was questioning if I liked oysters as much as I thought I did because they just tasted...fine. Not as amazing as oysters usually do). Also, they only serve spicy sauces to go with your oysters. ONLY spicy options (horseradish, a jalapeño mignonette, and a chipotle something or other, and horseradish or cocktail sauce). Oysters have an incredible but delicate flavor, while I can understand people wanting to spice it up sometimes, spicy sauces will totally overpower the oyster flavor. Worst of all, when I asked if i could get a side of *any vinegar* to be able to make just like a basic mignonette-ish option, their response was that they have *no vinegar* anywhere in the restaurant. I don't know how you brand yourself fully on a type of food (oysters), and then serve them ONLY in a way where you can't actually taste them! Also had a grilled artichoke app, which was fine, but again served only with a spicy sauce. Our server was great, I didn't catch her name though!

The Duchess ordered a glass of white wine, $15.00, which she found to her liking. A nice basket of warm bread was delivered consisting of croissants, sliced French, a cracker type affair (lacking in taste and not to my liking) and a dark brown bread neither of us sampled. Small croissants were warm, with a just out of the oven aroma, while the sliced French although flavorful, possessed a very tough crust. Ramekin of unsalted, soft butter was appreciated, but sadly was somewhat bland. COMPLIMENTS OF THE CHEF: 2 small sushi like mouth amusements were served, having a seafood flavor, with an almost creamy texture, a nice touch. Sunday Prix Fixe Menu, 3 courses,$95.00: FIRST COURSE: the Duchess ordered the Classic Caesar salad, where she found the dressing ladened with a vinegar tasting dressing much to her dislike. Salad was simple with romaine lettuce, parmesan, croutons and chives, with no notable taste of anchovies. SECOND COURSE: Shrimp Carbonara - noodles covered with a bacon, cheese, black pepper, tomato mixture, accompanied by 4 skinny shrimp, definitely not prawns as advertised. Small fist sized serving, was placed in the center of a dinner plate sized bowl. Who thinks this presentation is good? Who thought this up? THIRD COURSE: Dessert - Sunset? Okay, that was the name of a cute little dessert consisting of coconut creme brulee, strawberry, vanilla pineapple chutney, crispy honey, and . . . if was on fire, which was pretty cool. Unfortunately, my lady was not having any of it and at one point requested salt and pepper (oh no! the embarrassment, me hiding under the table), there are no condiments on the tables. The pepper was ground very course as was the salt. While to my liking, there complaints in the realm. I decided to order off the menu, spying ribeye listed on the menu. IMPERIAL WAGYU RIBEYE (USA)* accompanied by a corn kakiage, and a sweet paprika, green peppercorn jus $115.00. The meat servings all have the various countries of origin listed. The steak was finished with nice char appearance and although served with flavorful sauces, lacked salt. Thank you Duchess for asking for the salt. Accompanied by the hashbrown appearing corn kakiage. I did have some problem cutting into the steak, order was medium rare, it was closer to rare. 2/3rds went home with us. Might order again, I would probably ask for the sauces on the side. SIDE ORDER: GARLIC MASHED POTATO, butter and chives $16.00 - Nice buttery, whipped appearance, nice garlic flavor did not overwhelm. Too much for one, not really enough for two. would definitely order again. DESSERT: BERRY SWEET - mascarpone cheesecake / strawberry / graham cracker crumble $20.00 Had not the appearance of cheesecake in any shape or form. A round, ball shaped dessert (no flame) surrounded by a egg-like shell texture, with a subtle strawberry flavor, sitting atop some graham cracker crumbles, scant at best. A creative appearance, something you taste rather than eat. Although they do have numerous styles for your pleasure, I asked for a regular, plain old cup of decaffeinated coffee. I guess that's why it tasted like brown water. The Duchess claimed dishwater . . . Alexander's By the Sea, Steakhouse is suited for a special (very) occasion, first date, romantic outing, etc., but not much food for the pricing. The whole staff is wonderful and the place is more of an adventure in tasting. Enjoy. My go-to seafood boil spot in the South Bay! I remember…read morecoming to this restaurant's grand opening and thinking - this place is going to be insanely popular because the sauce is so good! Thankfully, the masses have not found it yet. My regular order is as follows: - Combo 1 with 2lbs of head on shrimp and 1lb of clams. House special sauce medium - House special sauce spicy on the side - Rice on the side (mandatory) - Strawberry lemonade Some week days, they also have raw oysters for a dollar so check that out! An amazing deal that is hard to find in SJ (more prevalent up in SF from lived experience). I usually get the same staff member. I think his name is Cory and he is super friendly and attentive! Highly recommend checking it out if you like seafood boil as much as I do!

Seafood, seafood, and how about a side of seafood? This is a very popular place . Yes, it was a…read moreSaturday evening, but at 8 PM, they still had a half hour wait for a table. I didn't know that you could call for a reservation, or get on their waitlist with Yelp. I was going to do my order to go, when I was asked if I wouldn't mind sitting at the bar. Not at all. I was seated right away, and I was helped by Allison, who was also tending bar. She was a very nice lady, and she took very good care of me. The restaurant has. A nautical theme to it. I decided to go with the Cajun chowder, and the softshell crab po' boy. . My food comes quickly, and the order was huge! It was a very good, rich chowder, with just a tiny bit of a "zip" from the Cajun spices. They definitely gave it a good flavor. There were lots of goodies inside. The one thing about the chowder, was they didn't take out the bay leaves, and I did get a couple.. I just put them off to the side. I'm not going to take off a star, because the chowder was so good. Hey, It happens.... The po' boy was huge! The softshell crab was not over breaded. I could taste the crab with no problem, and it was a little bit sweet, a little bit savory, with that wonderful "crabby" flavor. The roll was a soft roll, , but it still held up to the sandwich extremely well The lettuce, and tomato were crisp and fresh . The Cajun fries, had a little bit of a zip to them, but not too much. they came with ketchup, and their house Cajun sauce. I didn't even touch the ketchup. The sandwich already had some Cajun sauce on it, I put a little bit more. The rest, I used to dip the fries. I only made it halfway through the sandwich, and the fries. The rest came back to my room with me for another great meal. I also got another little "tub" of that sauce to take with me. The entire time, Alison was so personable, , we chatted a little bit about this and that... She is definitely an asset to that restaurant. (Tell her boss to give her a raise...:). The price was extremely reasonable for such a wonderful meal, and they also have a military/veterans discount this was such a great meal, I would gladly come back here again. Thank you so very much
