Wow. All I can say is WOW. My husband and I have a very expensive sushi habit, but after trying this place we are breaking up w our fav sushi place. You can't beat Poke Bar! The fish is FRESH - I had the tuna, seared albacore and shrimp (cooked). The toppings (especially perfectly ripe avacado and mango, and crunchy garlic and onion) make it! The sauces are DELICIOUS, especially LOVED these sauces: House, sweet chili and sriracha mayo. I recommend getting one sauce tossed in plus two of the others on the side. Really disappointed with the portion size and freshness with fish. While the employee was making my bowl he took off his gloves before even allowing me to finish toppings (masago, avocado, and ginger). The spicy tuna was very dry. Overall, I had a very nice time in the island style Poke Bar. The restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. There are lots of great toppings to choose from and some fun ones (pineapple, corn, garlic etc) to dress up your bowl and many varieties of sauces. The fish is fresh and they offer a free seaweed salad, crab salad, and water which is very nice. The staff was helpful and friendly. While Poke Lab will always be in my heart, Poke Bar is very convenient and is a good chain poke place. I recommend it highly. read more

Normally I go to poke lab. This place had a friendly atmosphere. Service was fast and friendly. Didn't have a problem regarding the food. The food was very good. The only problem I had was it was hard to hear the worker behind the counter top glass. Other then that this place is great. I will be coming anytime I want a poke bowl. read more

This poke place has horrible customer service when my bf didn't care for his bowl he asked if there was anything they can do for him and the lady was extremely rude, she mumbled things under her breath and was very snippy toward the both of us, when she offered salmon to him she just flung it across the counter at him and said your rice is fine so here. After we left the lady followed us out side and decide to yell something at us, so I opened my door to ask her what she said and she told me not to come back! After this incident I called the next day to speak with a manager I said hi what's your name, and she answered and I replied "I'd like to talk to you about an incident that happened yesterday" and her response was "I heard and I already told you guys I don't give refunds" so I just said ohh okay great I didn't realize cutting me off and not hearing out a paying customers side was good customer service, and she goes ohh well you can talk and I just kindly said no it's okay it sounds like you don't care to listen, have a great day. "Click" I am surprised by the workers behavior and even more surprised by the managers behavior, not listening to a customers feed back shocks me. Horrible service, rude employees! Update after response from manager: I find it interesting that your are so sure of a story that you only heard one side of. I called to talk to the manager and hopefully be heard by someone higher in the company, but I was cut off and told "I heard and already told you guys I don't give refunds". It's sad that things have to be taken to the internet in order to get a response, as I was told to not return I will gladly respect that because of the poor service my bf and I received. This is me and my boyfriend's too restaurants to go to. Not only is the food delicious, but the staff and their dedication to the community is what makes this restaurant amazing. Every time we go here, the owner always greets us with a big smile and takes time out of her day to chat with us. It is a beautiful restaurant and a very inviting atmosphere. If you are trying to cut back on carbs, I usually go for the spring mix instead of the rice, which is still really delicious and leaves me stuffed. I recommend trying the young fresh coconut. They have to slice to open for you, and you get a nice little umbrella in your drink once it's ready. read more

Wow! My wife and I are locals who are use to going up to the original poke bar in Redwood City. And Stanford shopping Center. Fish , condiments, toppings sauces were all 5 star. Worst part of the meal was seeing my empty bowel after eating 4 scoops on mix greens instead of brown rice or white. Great if you are on Paleo diet or low cholesterol. So now I have an excuse to drive from Salinas to Monterey more often. Plenty of parking and places in the same shopping center in Marina if you need other food choices for non poke lovers like myself. So whether you are local or driving to OR from Monterey/ Carmel, the cost is 15- 20 % less than similar places in Monterey Peninsula which is only 10-15 minutes away depending on traffic. I'm super excited that they open a poke place by the gym. Always my go to place when I don't have any food prep after the gym. Lean and delish! Once you walk in...it's really bright and has a nice welcoming atmosphere. Staff was very friendly and didn't rush you when ordering even when there was others in line. If you had any questions, they would gladly answer them and give recommendations when needed. I probably had most of the questions on the sauces. We all know it's the sauce that makes the biggest differences next to fresh fish. We do live in Monterey so I'm sure most poke places has ways to get fresh fishes. So it really comes down to sauces and toppings that makes a poke place in the peninsula stand out. This place has a lot of toppings from cilantro, fresh jalapeños, green onions, cucumbers, ginger, edamame, masagos, avacado to pineapple and mangoes. They even have crispy (dried toppings): garlic, scallions, wontons... these are a must to add in for a lil crunchy texture. Sauces: ponzu, sweet chili, shoyu "vegan", spicy mix (a mayo and Sriracha base), house dressing (soy sauce base with sesame oil and some other stuff) sorry I couldn't remember, and wasabi mix For the people who complained about it being too bland...well I can probably guess you haven't found your sauce(s) yet. It's really how you pick the combo of sauces for it to taste good. I originally picked two: ponzu and spicy mix (a little bland) My second time...I tried my poke bowl with spicy mix, sweet chili and ponzu sauce and it was delish!! That's my combo of sauces I would use. I would HIGHLY recommend getting three sauces if two is still consider bland to you. The best thing to do is get spicy mix and one of the other sauces to mix with your fish, then have a side of another sauce just in case you need a little more.
