Food was good, but nothing about it that screamed over the top phenomenal. Not an easily eaten meal after a long day of exploring (poor cutlery and presentation). The people who worked there are phenomenal. This all being said, We went there for an early dinner since there really aren't sit down restaurants outside of the resort. I sort of wish we had just gone to the resort restaurant. After a long day of exploring, the poke bowl was perfect for my husband, but the kabob combo (steak and chicken) was physically hard for me to eat. The location, like much of Hana, is a food truck. There was an evening wind gusting off the ocean causing things to be flying. I physically held down the umbrella over the table when I decided it would be easier to eat back at the resort. The kabobs were in a to-go box, but the poke bowl wasn't easily transported. When we got home, I stabbed the steak and the fork immediately broke. I ended up going through 5 of these crummy local compostable forks between the steak and the pineapple (chicken was tender and easily cut). In the end, I had to finish my meal with a spoon, because it was the only scooping tool left. I understand the restrictions on plasticware on the island, but then the restaurant should compensate by cutting the food before it is served. I'd rather just have "steak bites" or "chicken bowl" than have to go through 6 forks a meal trying to cut the meat. I think it also shows the steak wasn't properly tenderized. Overall the flavor was good, but I was just so frustrated with the eating itself. 4 rather than 5 stars because while the food was good, it was familiar. Well done but nothing really unique about it that made me say "woah!" Lastly, the salad dressing wasn't very good to me. I prefer a more acidic salad dressing. I felt the veggie kabob plate was overpriced for the portion and since it was simply veggies, rice and salad. The food is fresh and good, but not super unique flavors you often get from a food truck. Little disappointing after reading it had 4.5 stars. I guess I was expecting a lot more but I highly thought the my local Californian poke store out did poke bob and I would give my place in Thousand Oaks a 5 star now that I have had poke at many places. Though everything was made to order. It didn't get 2 stars because the chicken was juice and good tasting my poke had few greens and a boat load of rice and tiny bit of cucumber. They were efficient in providing the food. So the service was good and the food truck ambiance was nice, since it was outdoor along with other food trucks. Gracie was super friendly and guided us on the menu. I enjoyed the fresh spicy poke and also the pineapple skewer chicken kabobs. Chicken had some spice and maybe a little salty for my taste. The fries okra was delicious and I'm from the south - get a side of the homemade buttermilk ranch to complement the flavors. A great little stop to dine there or carry out. The food here was pretty good: we ordered the fried okra, poke bowl, and chicken/shrimp kabobs with grilled pineapple. The okra and grilled pineapple were the highlights, they were surprisingly delicious. The fish is fresh and I really enjoyed the spicy Mayo as well. Knocking a few stars off because I echo another reviewer in some of the customer service. Employees were smoking/lighting up/drinking while making the food, using our table to open beer bottles, and joking around about the quality of the food. Fried squash while technically squash is a tiny zucchini incrusted in cornmeal without much binding making it grainy. Rice is on the dry side but can be mixed in with poke. Friendly service at the counter but wasn't a huge fan of the food. For the poke bowl, the poke to rice ratio seemed off (for ~$16 dollars) with the poke bowl largely consisting of (very hot) rice, lettuce and some avocado. The temperature of the hot rice made the bowl and the toppings (lettuce) soggy. I also ordered the fried pickles because I'm a huge pickle fan. As one other reviewer mentioned, they are quite sour. I've said this before and I'll say it again. The best food in Hana is found at food trucks as it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. This place seemed to be a local favorite and there was a line when I arrived for dinner around 5PM. We got a poke bowl and a shrimp skewers plate; both were very good. However, the service was extremely slow, bordering on being unreasonable even by island time standards. We got our lunch from poke bobs after driving to Hana from the west part of Maui. The poke tastes really fresh and filling, and I like their soy sauce based tastes. If you are not big fan of Mayo or Wasabi, the poke without any sources are actually really good as the fish are already marinated. The chicken BBQ is surprisingly soft and really tasty. Yes, the line wait is 20 minutes but worth it. Very fresh poki. Also tried the fried squash, aka zucchini, with tzatziki sauce (delicious). I was second in line to order lunch. When it was my turn, I said "hi" to the employee. He sat down and said he'll be with me in a moment. I said, "ok". Then something bizarre happened. He started saying "ok" repeatedly with a few more disjointed words while intermittently glancing at me, smiling mockingly. I chose to ignore an employee's behavior. A business should not suffer because an employee wants to have his jollies at the expense of a customer (Subsequent events will change my mind, sadly). Besides, I really wanted to try their poke since people swore by the quality of it at this truck. After a couple of minutes of not doing anything, he stands up and comes to the window to ask what my order was. I said I would like a poke bowl. He said that they were all out. For a food truck named Poke Bob's, one would think they'd stock up on them a little more. But, it's probably one of those days they had more foot traffic. No biggie. But, when I moved away to check out the other trucks, the employee shouts that he'll sell his "last" poke bowl to the highest bidder starting at $40. Joke or not, if you're the only one laughing, you have to realize it's not funny; it's rude. I'm pretty sure he can spot tourists and reserves his best "jokes" for us; after all, we, most likely, will not be coming back. And on that, he's absolutely right. read more

I've personally tried over 100 poke spots around the world as I travel and have to say this is the worst one..from the food to the customer service, these people clearly don't know how to run a business and you'd be hard pressed to find a worse poke spot in the islands or back on the mainland.
