Our go to spot for a poke bowl that's right up the street from us! You can choose to create your own poke bowl, sushirrito (a sushi burrito), or choose one of their customized bowls. I can't speak on the raw sushi because I always get the imitation krab, but everything always looks fresh when we go. Customer service can vary depending on who is working. There's indoor and outdoor seating, but I always take my order to go. Our bowls are always filled to the brim and some times we even have leftovers for the next day. They also serve bubble tea and some light bites.

Casual place, has some tables to sit inside or you can do takeout. The proteins are very fresh. I got the salmon and spicy tuna. I did not feel like the service was the friendliest, so that's why I took off the star. They weren't rude or anything, just didn't really seem happy to be there or to be helping me. The food was good, but I'll probably go somewhere else coming in/out of Maryland.

Great service and great poke bowl! Their menu is a good size and they also do sushi burritos, which I love. My only complaint is that the speaker system inside is shot. I recommend getting your food to go unless you can bear a broken speaker system that is pretty much all static.

I ordered 2 poke bowls and steamed gyoza from here and they were great. The fish tasted fresh and I love the wide variety of toppings and sauces that you can choose from. Most poke places I've been to charge extra for some condiments such as mango and masago, but here they are free. I called ahead to make my order and they said it would only take 10 minutes. Upon reaching Poke Bowl, it did not seem like they have dine in services. My only minor issue was I do wish I had less kale in my bowl and more sliced almonds, but I understand that it is hard to fit everything in a bowl.

Food is fresh! Born and raised in an island in the Pacific Ocean, I was a little skeptical to try this place. I have had many Poke meals all throughout my travels from the west coast to the east coast. Granted the West Coast was more diverse and abundance of seafood restaurants, I had my reservations about this place. Went in, greeted friendly and ordered the Spicy Tuna Burrito and Classic House Poke Bowl. If you are on a budget, keep in mind, fresh fish is never cheap. The prices ranged from $8-$14. Add on protein was $3+, so you can al la carte but each add on is additional $$. The food was great!! I loved that the combination of seaweed, edamame, fish, kimchee, wonton crisps, rice, lettuce, the list goes on. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I would definitely give this a try if you're adventurous. Keep in mind, everything is RAW!! That is what Poke is, raw protein. If you are squeamish about that, not the place for you. They will not cook it for you. But if you're looking for a new flavor to try, this should be on your list.

13 October 2019. Found a great place for lunch. It's like a Chipotle where you choose your protein and other ingredients. I had mine made with mixed greens, edamame, tobiko, kimchee, scallions, sesame seeds, avocado (+$1.50), etc; which was topped off with ahi tuna. DH had his with rice, tuna, and crab; along with other healthy ingredients. A little on the expensive side but the ingredients were fresh and our lunch was delicious. I was impressed. I grew up on Oahu and love poke. Will return again for another great meal.

Went a few days after opening, I believe, although they still had their Grand Opening sign up so they may have been pushed back. You can either create your own poke bowl or burrito or you can order one of their creations. Most people seemed to order one of their bowls or burritos, but I assume that's common in the first month or so of opening. The fish was fresh, as were the toppings! I made my own large bowl, which comes with two proteins (medium bowls only get one protein without paying extra for a second protein). Their house sauce is like a sweet teriyaki sauce, so I had my fish tossed with that, added various toppings, then finished up with eel sauce and spicy mayo. We'll be back!

I love this place!! Even though it's carry out only, the service hasn't decreased. If anything, I want to visit more to ensure they survive these trying times. The Boba tea is a great addition!!

Perfect place to grab just about everything you're in the mood for sushi-wise at an even better price. Affordable prices from $8 to $15+. Everything is so fresh and the available combinations are so good or you can make your own combination. One small improvement I would like to see here, more gluten-free sauce options. Only current options are gluten-free soy sauce or the classic sauce (sweet & sour) which isn't entirely suggested to go with fish which is mainly what is available.

The space is basic, but the food is what keeps people coming back. The portions are big without feeling sloppy. The chicken katsu is solid: crispy on the outside, still juicy inside, and not drowned in sauce. The BBQ plates are dependable -- sweet, smoky, and cooked well -- especially if you like a mix of meats. Nothing feels overdone, and that's kind of the point. The mac salad deserves a mention because it actually tastes like mac salad, not some watered-down side. Creamy, simple, and it pairs well with everything else on the plate. Rice is cooked right, which shouldn't be a big deal, but it is. It's not trying to be trendy or upscale Hawaiian food. It's just straightforward comfort food that fills you up and tastes good. If you're looking for a reliable spot when you want something hearty and familiar, Halo Hawaiian gets the job done.

I also got some teriyaki sauce on the side and I'm glad I did because the pork definitely needed a little sauce. There were onions in the pork that I wished were cooked a bit more, they basically steamed. The flavor was delicious but the takeout bag leaked pork juice (?) all over my other groceries so that kinda sucked. That's the only reason for my 4 stars this time, but the food was amazing as always!

They share a space with other businesses in a somewhat food hall/bar type of vibe. Some businesses from the original "the block" food hall have moved here like snocream. There are a lot of different plate, bowl, and combo variations to choose from. For my first time, it was very hard to choose but I opted with the seafood combo which has fried fish, fried shrimp, and a choice of meat. The flavor is amazing especially the bbq marinade on the beef. The batter used for the shrimp and fish tastes the same, a little bland, but light batter not overly greasy. I'm not sure what authentic hawaiian food is supposed to taste like to compare this but I think the seafood needs some kind of sauce. Portion size is great, one combo plate can be shared between two people but u might want to have your own as you're eating it. The take-out menu vs. dine-in menu are a little confusing, I'm not sure which has the better value and/or if theres any difference in portion size or what-not but we got the to-go combo and just ate in store. The dine-in menu I was told just gets plated instead of put in a box but i'm wondering if you get more/less meat in that sense because why are there two different menus? Overall this spot is pretty solid and a different kind of cuisine thats good to have around the area. I will likely come back and update my review as I try the other items on the menu and as they continue to renovate the space.

I added this casual spot to my list a couple months ago, but didn't have concrete plans to check it out. Driving to Manassas and back on I-66 from where I live would cost half of my brain cells and all my patience. However, a few friends and I drove out to Shenandoah this past Friday evening, and I made a convincing argument that HawaU would be on the way. By the time we arrived, we were all incredibly hungry and ready to wolf down anything edible. The ordering process was easy: we ordered and paid at the counter, grabbed a seat at one of the few tables, and waited ~10-15 minutes for the food (parts of it are made to order). LOCO MOCO (BOWL) - 9.99 The chipotle-sized bowl was topped with loco moco: white rice base topped with hamburger patty, fried egg, grilled pineapple slice, and a generous pour of beef & mushroom gravy, plus sides of fresh cabbage salad and mac salad. The gravy nostalgically reminded me of the ones I'd get from cafeteria-style school lunches -- thick, salty, slightly starchy, yet oddly comforting. The egg, hamburger patty, and rice were pretty standard, but the familiarity of the gravy tied the whole dish together nicely. Both salads were good -- the cabbage was more light and refreshing, while the mac salad felt a bit heavy after all the loco moco. Since it's my first time eating loco moco, I can't say how it compares to others. However, I found HawaU's incredibly comforting and hearty. It really hit the spot for me, and I ate the whole bowl within 10 minutes. The loco moco is definitely their signature option and a must try. My friends who got the spicy pork bowl and udon thought both were just OK and not special.
