So Saturday, me and my mom decided to venture down to SoHo since it was nice out and we just wanted to be outside and chill. Originally, we went down there because my mom wanted to take me to this tiramisu spot she had saved because she knows I love tiramisu (yes, that review is coming next). But in the process, we were trying to figure out what we actually wanted to eat first. We were about to go to Sweetgreen for a salad, and then I looked across the street and saw Glaze Teriyaki. I was like, "Hmm... what is that?" And my mom was like, "Oh no, let's go there. I have that saved on my list of places for us to try." And honestly? Best decision we made. Glaze was SO good. So basically, you go in and you can pick your base -- bowl or salad -- and then you pick everything else. Your protein, your rice, your sauce, all of it. I love that because you can really control how saucy you want it and what kind of teriyaki you want. They even have gluten-free teriyaki, spicy, regular... I loved that. I did the filet mignon bowl with brown rice, regular teriyaki, and the cabbage ginger dressing for my side salad because I never go wrong with cabbage ginger. And of course, I got a green tea because I love me a good green tea. My mom did the Ora King salmon bowl, brown rice too, with carrot ginger dressing, and of course her green tea. To start, we tried the charred ribs and baby... those ribs were delicious. Nice spice to them, not overly spicy, and they come on this little bed of white rice that was so good. The sauce was everything. And then they have a little sauce station where you can go grab extra sauce if you want, which I loved because yes, sometimes I need extra sauce. They also offer chopsticks, which was cute. The food was just really, really good. And what I loved most is that after we ate, we felt satisfied but not heavy. Y'all know I'm dairy-free and I watch my soy intake, so I really appreciate places where I can control what I'm eating and still have it taste amazing. It was light, flavorful, filling, and just enough without feeling like too much. That's my kind of meal. The staff was really sweet too. If it's your first time, they'll walk you through ordering, or you can use the kiosk if you already know what you want. And they take cash, which I appreciate because sometimes I'm a cash girl. The seating was cute, the whole setup was cute, and I'm honestly mad I didn't get pictures for y'all, but I was too busy eating! Overall, it was just a really good experience and we're definitely going back because there were so many other things on the menu we want to try. So if you ever come across a Glaze, go in and enjoy it. Trust me. It's worth it. read more

I love how simple their menu is. I came in on a rainy Saturday afternoon. There is a single stall bathroom in the back and decent amount of seating. Some of the table sizes are weird to me. As you get closer to the window the circle tables are smaller than the ones by the bathroom. There's a self-serve water station. I got a steak bowl with brown rice and sesame sauce on the side. Always walked by Glaze and finally got to try it and so happy that I did. Ordered the Jalen Brunson bowl with brown rice and teriyaki sauce. The bowl is composed of salmon, chicken thighs and a small salad. It comes with 5 dumplings as well. Liked the bowl a lot. It was tasty and a good portion without feeling greasy or too heavy. Ingredients are fresh as well. Dumplings are ok. Don't think I need to order it again. Service is quick. You can order on kiosk. Decent amount of seating. Additional sauces and water is provided on the side if needed. Glad I was finally able to try. Wish there were many more locations around! read more

Cute little restaurant, I definitely thought it was for donuts when I first saw the branding. I came in after work one day and got 1/2 and 1/2 of the chicken breast and salmon teriyaki with only salad. I got both the teriyaki and carrot ginger dressing on the side which was good for me so that I could choose how much teriyaki I wanted! If I could- I'd give this a 3.5! I ordered the teriyaki chicken, 1/2 rice and 1/2 salad. The chicken was quite good but not enough of it. The rice is what stole the show and the salad was quite miniature as well (got the sesame dressing which was sweet and good). For $14 - it would have been nice to have better portion sizes of the protein rather than giving a heavy serving of the rice. I'd come back but wouldn't be sprinting! read more

I've been a fan of Glaze since they opened a store by 14th Street Union Square. They do Chipotle style plates but IMO, the food is fresher here. I usually order the chicken Teriyaki; it comes with rice and salad. Every time the food is consistently good. The staff is friendly and the store is very clean. The dining area takes up most of the space and I have never felt cramped, even at lunch time. I think my biggest issue with Glaze is their lack of marketing to grow their business to a known brand. From the outside, it looks like a coffee restaurant; it needs a signage to draw people in. For 15-$20 lunch plates, you can't go wrong eating at Glaze. read more
