I was planning on giving Mikado a 5 star review and was actually surprised to see the 3.3 rating. It's a beautiful restaurant and is centrally located in West Village. I had been influenced to come here for happy hour (3:30-6:30) and was really pleased with the food. The sushi tacos ($5) were amazing. I couldn't even tell you what's in it, but it was a meat with an orange sauce that was slightly spicy with an avocado slice and green pepper served in a small crunchy taco shell. You get three for the order which I feel is appropriate. I also ordered the plum wine ($5) which was both sweet and tangy. They don't pour much, which was my only complaint, but it was really good and complimented the food well. The reason why I wasn't able to give them 5 stars was because of the service inconsistency. I feel as though I had a good experience, with the woman behind the bar presenting me with a big smile and another woman responding quickly when I asked for the check. The girl next to me, however, asked to be served twice and was virtually ignored until I asked on her behalf a third time and she was acknowledged. I understand it was busy due to happy hour, and later there was even a line outside, but the girl on my right came in much later and was served immediately (even before the girl on my left). It didn't feel 100% nefarious, but it was definitely awkward. I would keep that in mind if you come here. Some of the staff are great, while others couldn't be bothered.
