We stopped in to pass time before grabbing a beer at Standard Beer and dinner at Fillo. As a result, we were here for just a couple of minutes and did not order food. The restaurant was clean and cute. Mark wanted a tea and was hoping for something hot rather than bubble tea. The person working behind the counter was so very, very helpful! She was super sweet and really took her time helping Mark decide what best met his needs. He ended up with a Lavender Tea, which was absolutely delicious! Poke Hut has great reviews, most of which tout the food. If we hadn't had dinner plans, I would loved to have ordered a bite to eat. The poke spot du jour is between Washington Park and Findlay Market, so a good location to walk by. I found their options pretty numerous, though getting greens for a base gave me only iceberg lettuce (there were rice and noodle options if I was hungrier). When I asked for tofu I was offered the option to split with avocado if I wanted to keep everything vegetarian, which I declined but it's nice to have the option and the attention to such matters. My tofu was cooked flavorfully, but was served cold, along with a nice array of vegetables. As is generally the case with poke places, this was a pricey bowl, but it was full and had good quality ingredients. I was offered some sauce but barely needed it. Bubble tea was on offer as well. I found this place through Door Dash and am in love! I hope to go to the brick and mortar location in OTR soon, but had to try the food before getting there in person. It did not disappoint. What drew me in was the wide variety of creative and unique foods. My husband and I shared the Taiwanese popcorn chicken which was incredibly delicious and had a unique flavor that is hard to place but very tasty. I would get this as a personal meal in the future - it was that good! My husband had the beef udon noodles and enjoyed it as well. Got a noodle bowl and it was great! I was able to customize it to have a lot of different textures and flavors. The regular size was plenty filling for dinner. Poke Hut does a delicious poke bowl. Visiting on a whim, we grabbed a small poke bowl with salmon and spicy scallops on rice and zoodles. We added some other toppings, including carrots, seaweed salad, and delicious mushrooms. Upon the first bite, we both smiled: tasty, tasty poke! We also enjoyed the pork BBQ buns. My partner visibly melted into his seat after the first bite of his pork bun. Service was quick and friendly. The shop itself is very understated, with a cafeteria-style line, simple chairs and tables, grab-your-own utensils, and some outdoor seating. The prices were reasonable, too. Cool Hawaiian Inspired Place in OTR! The Pork Buns are to die for! soft, pillowy, the pork is just delicious and the veggies on top are the perfect complement on every bite. Just for those buns I have traveled multiple times more than 2 hours each roundtrip (before I moved), They are that good. I ordered a create your own bowl through doordash. While the delivery experience wasn't great, I cannot blame the restaurant. I will say that I feel like I got scammed out of $20. I chose the spicy tuna and marinated salmon for my bowl with a lettuce base and a few toppings. It was mostly lettuce, and crappy lettuce at that. The salmon was good, but I had to keep hunting for pieces of it. The spicy tuna was gross. Not only was it fishy, but they try to cover it up with spicy mayo, and a ton of it. It felt like I paid $20 for a bargain basement tuna salad. Granted, this is a place in the Midwest attempting to do poke. If you've ever had real poke in Hawaii you would understand the disappointment. Maybe I set myself up for failure ordering from here, but the restaurant can at least put more protein in the bowl for the premium they are charging. Additionally, I ordered a milk tea at 25% sweetness and it was at 100% and not really drinkable, and it spilled into the bag it was wrapped in on top of that. I've been back 3 times since, and none of those trips were as magical as the first. They were pretty much in love with me. We talked for ages - past closing time - with several excited employees and a manager/owner. We exchanged info, they were very eager to hear my thoughts and suggestions. I was expecting an email from them so I could give them some advice and some tips but I never did hear from them. I think they've been making a killing due to the lack of stuff like this in Cinci, but I can't be sure. That's the impression I get. Maybe that's why I didn't hear - they don't need any advice because they're raking it in and too busy to talk! NBD. They haven't so much as improved since then, but their food is just as good, their prices are not much higher (but it's not cheap at all mind you, not for Cinci), and their bubble tea is still pretty decent. I like it but I don't love it. That's why I wanted to talk to them actually - to tell them how they could not just have good Cinci standard Boba, but amazing anywhere-quality Boba. There's nothing amazing here in Cinci, in the way of Boba, or Poke for that matter. Poke Hut is one of the best of an okay bunch, along with Boba Cha, which I adore. However, the decor here is amazing and the Poke Bowls are very damn tasty although they are a little bit on the standard side. But just in general I think it's a great place to come. Not the cheapest but then neither is your mother and that never stops me from hanging out with her does it. From my most recent visit: Really nice to be back at Poke Hut. I never feel like I'm in Cincinnati until I hang out here. The people working here are always really friendly except for a couple of them but this most recent time everybody was. They didn't recognize me but that's okay. I was part of their little opening aura but they went their own way and they've been doing very well. Their products are good and they're doing a good job. Special bonus points for their very gracious owner responses to bad reviews that I've noticed on Yelp. Now that's how to be classy and constructive. Other businesses should watch and learn. Boba here tastes sticky and sweet and the milk tea has a nice flavor. It's far from the best I've ever had but it's definitely a five-star version of bubble tea - especially by Cinci standards - and definitely tastes real, unlike Barbie, who tastes - and is - fake. They could use some more options but then so could I in the sexual department. Let's finish with Limericks, shall we: I found myself down in Cincinn, Out looking for healthy Din-Din, Got skinny with Poke, Fat from Tapioc-y, The Poke Hut was a win-win! Cincinnati really needed a place like Poke Hut. An option for fresh poke bowls and crafted bubble tea that satisfy you for lunch or dinner. I've been here several times now and know the owners. The amount of passion and time they spend really shows off. From the branding to the decor inside the restaurant to the Menu and availability of fresh toppings to the customizable bubble tea and presentation of the food, I am in heaven every step of the way. I don't think I've had as many cravings for a place as Poke where I wish there were more locations than just downtown. If you've never had a poke bowl, it's a must try. It's basically an open face sushi bowl but with many more options. You first pick a base which is the carbs like rice or noodles, but you have the option of a salad base and my favorite, the zucchini noodles. Many folks have never tried zucchini noodles and it's just want it sounds like. Spiralized zucchini which is a healthier option to noodles. Then you pick a protein. If you don't like raw food, no worries. They have delicious chicken, pork, beef, tofu. All marinated with great flavor. Once you pick those two, you move into the toppings. This is my favorite part. So many options, so colorful, so tasty. (I just had some last night and am craving it again just talking about it). You also can add multiple sauces (the siracha aioli is my fav) and dry toppings like wontons, seasame, and even flamming hot Cheetos! My recommendation for your first time is to pick something off the signature bowls. As long as you find something you like there, it's worth trying the already explored flavor combination in the signature bowls and then you can customize as desired. If you're hungry, I also recommend trying the lite bites! The spring rolls are delicious along with the popcorn chicken. It's a unique flavor for the chicken with an addicting sauce to go with it. I also look forward to getting bubble tea from here. Not only do they have milk teas but fruit teas and many boba options. If you get a fruit tea, try the popping boba! My favorite is the kiwi but it's so much fun and easier to eat! Overall, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is great. The owners hand-pick a friendly staff and when the owners are around, they are all smiles and friendly conversations. This is a really neat little "build-your-own-poke" restaurant located in the hippest part of Cincinnati. Everything about my experience was top-knotch: the food was good, the service was quick, the prices were easy on the wallet, and the restaurant was clean and comfy. I'll go into some more detail about each aspect, but if you are looking for a place to grab a quick and healthy bite to eat, Poke Hut is definitely a must-visit. The food: super yummy, super healthy, super fresh, and lots of options. I absolutely loved how many different choices I had, from all the different types of "bases" (I chose a mix of zucchini noodles and lettuce: low carb and really healthy, but they have rice too), to the number of protein options (not just a wide range of fish options, including plain and marinated, but also chicken, tofu, shrimp [cooked], and a few others), to the absolutely HUGE selection of veggies and other toppers (with my base included, my bowl probably had 3 servings of veggies on it). The pickled daikon and mushrooms were particularly yummy! I also got a bowl of tom yum soup, which was also really good. Prices are very reasonable. The service: my entire meal, including ordering, took about 30 minutes. You can definitely take longer, but if you are in a hurry, this place will take care of you. The staff is also super friendly, and the manager made sure to check how my experience was. The space: very spacious, super clean (spotless), and clean bathrooms. The streetcar stops right out front, so you can get to the main part of "downtown" in a jiffy! All in all, I would rate this one of the best poke restaurants I've ever visited. I called in an order, and the worker on the other line was patient and helpful, giving me advice on how to work with their price structure (Instead of paying extra for the avocado, I could count is as my third protein, and I'd still get a scoop of the miso crab). It's fast-food oriented, so I realized that calling in an order there is unnecessary -- just showing up and having the bowl made while you're in line is just as fast as calling in advance. The fish and vege in poke bowl were very fresh. What I found most pleasant was their unique and delicious sauce offering. I got their orange miso sauce and yuzu soy sauce as I've never seen these in other poke places, and I thoroughly enjoyed both.
