Hard to find the front door but once we did we were very pleased with the ambiance. Raw is a lovely space and the bar is large and looks very inviting and like a place tou could feel very comfortable having a cocktail or two. The seating is comfortable and has a relaxed vibe. The sushi was just not great. We ordered several of the special rolls that ranged in price from $22 to $29. They all tasted pretty much the same and every one of them had the same sauce. But the safest part is the tempura shrimp in the rolls tasted like it had been sitting for awhile. And instead of getting that crispy light tempura crust, it was gummy and heavy. The rice was gummy and I am not sure if it was overcooked or perhaps had too much sugar added which madeit overly sweet and congealed. We also ordered a dou le.order of the Hamachi sashimi which was fair but lacked that super rich butter flavor I crave. We were so hoping to find our go to sushi spot while visiting Raw. And I do think they have a place in the restaurant bar world. But their "place" is not for as a high end sushi restaurant. The quality is just not there. And I so wanted it to be. ‍

The dining area is on the small-to-medium size, but we stopped in around 6:30 on a Friday evening and had no problem getting a table. Our server was friendly, attentive, and did a great job throughout our visit. I ordered a Moscow Mule along with the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. The Moscow Mule was on point, and the wrap was packed with fresh ingredients and had great flavor. The buffalo sauce had just the right amount of tang without being overpowering, and the chicken had a nice, crispy crunch. I'd definitely order the wrap again. Overall, we had a great experience. Good food, friendly service, and a convenient downtown location. I'd definitely come back the next time we're in Redding!

I tried to choke down as much as I could, then decided to give up halfway through. The soup was sublime. A 1/4 inch slice of brown toast under the melted Swiss cheese, the broth and onions delicious. I requested a 6 ounce pour of the Caymus California Cabernet Sauvignon with the steak. It arrived with my meat and potatoes beautifully plated. I'm not sure I wasn't served a sirloin. That filet was the shape of no filet I've ever bought or been served. But it was perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes were sublime - buttery and flavorful. The wine with less tannins than I anticipated- I really enjoyed that. Service was attentive and both the hostess and my server checked on me. My drive back to Sacramento will be pleasant.

My first experience trying a Poke Bowl was here at Poke Land Extra. It's located close to shopping and was easy to get in and out. It was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful in making my selections. I like that you can choose your meats, toppings, and sauces. The fish and toppings were fresh and the meal was delicious. I have many lunch appointments in my line of work throughout the year and feel Poke Land Extra will be a great place to meet clients and colleagues for lunch. read more
