As someone who lives nearby, I am ecstatic that this Culver plaza is getting so many great new shops and restaurants in it. When I noticed Poke Me appear, I crossed my fingers and hoped that it'd be good because it was so so close to my house, I could practically walk there! The store is small, but it's very clean and well organized. I usually come at odd hours so it's never uncomfortably packed, nor is there a long line. It follows the usual formula most Poke stores have. It's cafeteria style and you choose your bowl size (or opt for a burrito etc.). The small size was more than enough food for me. Avocado is FREE if you choose it as one of your two premium toppings (there are unlimited toppings for the less premium options). Each time I've gone I've been given generous scoops of protein, toppings and sauce, which is a major factor for me in choosing poke stores! I really like that they have a bar at the end where you can add your dry toppings (crispy onion, green onion, sesame seeds etc.) it allows you to put as much as you want, and avoid sheepishly asking your server to "add a little more please". The only reason this place isn't a 5/5 is because I've had better fish quality in other shops. Not to say the fish here wasn't fresh! It was decent, and I definitely will visit more often to see how my tastes change. read more

I am very sad to write this review as this has been my go to pokey place for the last few years and I used to enjoy them very much. That said they have made changes that in my opinion decrease their value significantly. Of course they have raise prices to deal with inflation; everyone has. However they have also adjusted some of the items in the bowl. Today I ordered a salad base, she picked the few meager scraps that were left in the bin and that was that. Not even enough lettuce to make a regular small salad. She added a regular amount of proteins, but when it came time for the Mix-ins I find out that now edamame has been moved to a side item, and to add edamame is now $2!?!?! They also got rid of the Masago and they don't have any plans to bring it back. When I went to pay, I was charged $18 for a relatively small portion (I ordered a medium) without some of the things that I was used to having in my bowl. The quality still seems OK, but the value is just not there so beware. read more

I was SO excited to hear of this poke place opening because it's literally right next to my house. Super convenient and I can't get enough of poke. I ordered a small bowl (two scoops of protein for $9.50) with salmon and tuna. What makes this place different is the spicy crab option and they have self-serve toppings at the end (furikake, seaweed, ginger, wasabi, etc.). The spicy crab was pretty good, I think I like it better than regular crab. But the downfall is the limit of only two sides for the bowl (sides being crab, spicy crab, avocado, seaweed salad, masago, and tamago) -- I think there are lots of other places that charge less and don't limit the sides (or charge extra). One positive though is that they are really generous with their portions. The worker seemed detailed in ensuring that I got more pieces of fish if it seemed like the little spoon just wasn't getting enough in the first scoop. I hate to give poor reviews, and this is not one.. just a drastic reduction of rating.. we have been frequenting this poke joint and have made it a point to revisit as part of our Cali vacation routine as the bowls and service have always been on point in every way!! The last few visits over this last year have not been up to the usual par.. the quality and variety of ingredients still amazing, yet the quantity has suffered maybe due to management Insisting staff pull back on portion sizes and up charge for EVERYTHING including the serving bowl selection and opting for sauce on the side as opposed to in the bowl. Our portion of fish has been just more than half what it used to be, as well. That being said, front of the house is dominated by a young gentleman that is a little abrasive and abrupt in such a manner the overall ordering and checkout experience is greatly diminished to the point of considering too many other options. I know it's not just personal as many other reviewers have made mention of the same!! I truly love having favorite check-ins with my wife but Im not sure this will continue to be on our list!! One of my go-to Poke joints because of its vicinity to university. The selection here is great and the poke always tastes fresh. Regardless of what time of day I come here, even close to closing time, the food never tastes bad. My favorite sauce is the spicy chili sauce and I typically go for the small bowl which comes with two scoops of protein. My preferred protein is salmon, but I really enjoy their spicy albacore. You can ask for samples of the protein if you're unsure. One thing I do need to critique on is the portion of the bowls. They scoop very little of everything and leave a big gap. If I'm going to pay $11+ for a medium bowl, I would expect for my bowl to be filled to the brim if not over. This is the standard at all poke stores I go to as well as any other restaurant. I'm quite disappointed in this aspect and I really hope management fixes this issue. I don't want to be paying medium price for the size of a small. Pro tip: Download Retail Therapy for BOGO and also $2 off de Update: Portions seem to have improved since. The bowls, no matter what size, are filled to the top. Food is more organized as well. During my most recent visit, everyone's bowl portions seemed ample. I can now say it's more worth the price I pay. In addition, staff is also more lively and welcoming now. Only $10.50 for a small bowl (picture attached) but I couldn't even finish all of my bowl because there was just so much of everything in there! There's a wide variety of sauces - but I liked the spicy ponzu with yuzu wasabi, it has a nice kick without really numbing out your mouth. Poke is great, but the order of operations is poorly managed and unfortunately they're understaffed. Don't try to call ahead, they won't answer. I know this is an industry issue overall, but if you come in and are in line, you should be helped accordingly. If you can't help in-person customers, you shouldn't be taking Doordash orders. I waited in line for 10 minutes, then for 15 minutes after I ordered, then I left and got a subway sandwich only to come back with them still not having started my order (all for 3 hand rolls). No one at the store was doing anything wrong, they were very kind and polite! It's an overall management issue. Ordered a large Poke with 4 proteins and a mixed salad base, avocado and crab meat sides and it was not good, order was incorrect and the food wasn't fresh, as I had stomach issues within an hour of eating. I am fairly new to area and by far this is the best poke spot I've been to in a very long time. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by all staff members and I told them I've never been there before. Christian Z explain thoroughly the steps and each ingredient. He was very knowledgeable and knew what flavors went with everything. He recommended that I get the baked salmon bowl and I'm so glad I did. Christian went above and beyond!!! He recommended a poke ginger based sauce that I try, he even mixed one up for me to take home. It was the best poke sauce I've ever had. I've noticed in this area it's rare that a business is 100% Covid safe AND the staff provides superb customer service. I'm shocked on how friendly and happy the staff was here. This poke place is somewhat new. There's a lot good reviews on here but I felt the opposite. Not sure if I came on a wrong day but my friends and I came in close to 7 for dinner.  There was only one person ahead of us, but the service was so slow and lacking so much. I felt like the women were unorganized with the assembly line. They were jumping around and switching back and forth. To improve I think they should assign one person for the base, one person for the fish/toppings and one person at the cashier. It just held up the line. When I ordered my bowl, my friend was suppose to be behind me but somehow they helped the person behind her first.... didn't make sense to me.   A regular bowl you get 2 scoops, medium 3 scoops and large gets 4 scoops of protein. The large is literally in a box and has a lot of portion.  For the side you can only get 2 choices, which i dont think is enough. I like that they offer a wide range of sauces. For one of the toppings there was pineapple, which is interesting but it tasted and looked it came from the can. Same with the corn. For the try toppings it's self serve at the end.  I asked for a receipt but they ran out of paper and none of the employees knew how to add more paper... you can ask them to email/text it to you. Overall, the poke was okay. I was craving poke but this place did not satisfy my cravings. The ingredients didn't seem as fresh. There's plenty of other good poke places around Irvine. To be honest, the food is actually pretty good. It's just the employees don't make the ordering experience well. When I was ordering my food, one server was actually really nice but the other one was laughing at whenever I said a word. It was really annoying. I don't know if she was high or something but it really made the whole experience awful. And looking at the review I know I am not the only one being treated rude. The self-serve area definitely boosted this review from 3 stars to 4 stars. I love garlic and onion crisps, nori, corn, ginger, practically everything that the self-serve area offers. I usually get a small bowl ($9.95) with two fish (all salmon). I always have a hard part picking two toppings. I usually get seaweed salad and imitation crab, but what if I want avocado too? I waited for 5-10min, and when it was my turn, the girl suddenly told me sorry the guy in front of me is the last customer. They are closing. I stood there in disbelief as I was waiting right there in front of them the whole time for 10 min and they said nothing. I asked why she didn't mention anything earlier, she just went inside and let out a loud complaining sound. Poke Me is a cute spot to grab poke from and has some outdoor seating since it's located in a food court. Everything looks clean and the fish is fresh, but the options are pretty limited when it comes to mix ins. Some places like Poke Works offer an extensive list of mix ins, but Poke Me only offers onions, cucumbers, pineapple, cilantro, and masago. Since I like seaweed mix ins, I was kinda disappointed. One thing that does help them stick out from the crowd though is that their toppings in addition to standards like seaweed salad and crab salad include tamago and avocado at no additional cost. They're also quite generous with the tamago as they give you two slices. read more

I just ate my poke bowl and WOWW SO GOOD. Best poke place that I've tried in Irvine! I can't believe they only have 43 reviews! The overall experience was great. I had my Frenchie with me so I called the girl working as I was outside the store. she walked me through the steps and everything. Since she did everything for me..I was a little nervous on what it'd look like. But my bowl was delicious! The prices are a little high for a medium, but you get a lot of food. 2 scoops for small, 3 scoops for medium and 4 scoops for large. I went with the medium bowl with ahi, salmon and seared albacore. There was def a lot of fish in my bowl! Next, you choose the sides. They only allow you to choose 2 items between avocado, edamame, crab or spicy crab, and seaweed salad. I went with the spicy crab and the seaweed salad. Wish I could have added avocado as well! But she gave a good amount of it! Got all the mix ins for the bowl and chose spicy mayo and truffle ponzu for my sauces. Anything truffle and I'm sold!! On top of that I love my ponzu.. last came the toppings and there were many options. I always overpack my bowl with roasted garlic, crispy onion, green onion, jalapeño, and sesame seed because why not and it adds extra texture and flavor to my bowl. Fish was good, not fishy, not the best quality but eating it with everything else is yummy. No extra charge for avocado. Sweet ponzu sauce is really good. Located inside a plaza with plenty of parking space. Limited seating. I take mines to-go. Overall, i liked what i got for the amount and price.
