This place is honestly a hidden gem in Irvine, because not many people know about it, but I honestly prefer it over most Poke spots! JUST GET A SMALL BOWL. They honestly give SO MUCH FOOD it's ridiculous!! One small bowl could really last me 2, maybe 3 meals. They are just so generous with the portions and that's why I keep coming back!! You order your base, protein, and sauces with the worker, and you top it off yourself at the self-serve bar. There are no limits on sauces, however they do limit you on your sides (i.e. imitation crab, masago, etc.) They also have a rewards program so don't forget to sign up! They also put deals on the Retail Therapy app (i.e. BOGO Free) so don't forget to download that too! Usually, I tend not to stray too far from my usual poke locations and also because Irvine just is a bit of a drive when there are places closes but Poke Me was a good choice to venture out! I would really like to commend the customer service though. We had a retailtherapy coupon for BOGO small bowl, but my friends and I were a tad (very VERY) hungry and wanted to opt for the large bowl instead. The server was kind enough to adjust the pricing for us while being able to use the coupon as well. They didn't have to do something like that, but they did and that made a small difference going the extra mile. Now on towards the poke itself. I got the large poke bowl with two scoops of brown rice. Usually, I always go for half & half w/ white rice and lettuce but today was the day I'd finally try brown rice with my poke here and I actually really liked it! There was a light nuttiness to the rice but it wasn't overpowering like other brown rice and I could still taste my protein, sauces etc. The fish tasted fresh from each bite and I enjoyed the sides they had (although sadly they were out of avocados that day noo!!!!) despite the varied amount of scoops I had (some were giant scoops and others were very small scoops...). Also the self-serving toppings bar is a blessing!!!! So nice to be able to put as much crispy garlic as I want along with ginger as well. Pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed my food at this location. I ordered a small bowl that came with one scoop of rice, spicy tuna, salmon, seaweed salad, cucumber, cilantro, red onion and ponzu sauce and spicy mayo sauce. I thought the portion size might be too small but all the additives were pretty proportionate. There were only two cons that I wish were slightly different: the imitation crab was not included as a side (it's one of my favorite things on my poke) and it's a little pricey (~$11). But the quality of the food was good. The restaurant is located in the Culver Plaza next to Rite Aid and Class 302. The plaza gets pretty crowded but there is plenty of parking. Nice little poke shop in the same plaza as Ameci Pizza, Subway, Class 302, and Starbucks. Let's start off by mentioning that it's on the pricier side for poke. On weekdays, they have happy hour which you can upgrade the size for the same price. However, I went on a Sunday which resulted in my MEDIUM sized bowl to be $13. (Tip: there's a $5 off $20+ coupon on Retail Therapy as well as BOGO signature bowls) Food - Presentation is nice, but flavors are lacking. I've been to many poke places such as Lowkey Poke and Poke Haus which incorporates all the ingredients and flavors together. However, this isn't the case at Poke Me. The poke is just super hard to mix and it basically forces you to eat everything individually; even then, it's very mediocre. (I don't usually mix my poke, but I felt the need to because everything was so bland) On a higher note, I appreciate that their ingredients aren't low quality and their menu is very easy to follow. Service - Yelp reviews are right. The guys working there were nice but definitely lacked enthusiasm. It's as if they're bored or simply just don't care. I understand there's rough days working at a food establishment myself, but when a customer walks in, they just looked and them and then proceeded to get back to whatever they're doing. No "Welcome in!" or "Thank you, have a nice day!" I did appreciate their knowledge of ingredients when the person behind me asked about the sauces. They were also pretty patient and not hasty, unlike what most of the reviews here says. If you're in need of a poke fix, around the area, and money isn't an issue, Poke Me is sufficient. I know this is Irvine, so we seem to pay more in this city, however 14.50 for a poke bowl that consists of 4 scoops of fish is too high. Besides that, the fish was super fresh, lots of sauces(with explanations of flavor) to choose from or combine were excellent. I have to say I'd love to come back, but the pricetag is a bit steep for me. My daughter got a small bowl with 2 scoops of fish at 10.50. I thought this was very good. I like their house sauce. It was fresh. I even liked their seaweed salad, which in my opinion, can get pretty icky depending on the place. So the place didn't really fill up fast. The large size is enough for 2 people to share. There's a section there where you can just keep adding toppings (like roasted garlic) to your poke bowl. We went to eat there this afternoon and can't say enough good things about the service and the food. I need to eat gluten-free and the workers were knowledgeable and did everything to help me choose the right foods. They handed me a print out of gluten-free items and helped me select everything, including the right gluten-free soy sauce. The bowl was delicious but I have to say that the service was even better. My daughter and I were so disappointed today. We come here almost every week since my daughter always craves Poke Bowls and it's close to our house. Normally, the servers here are very careful with serving food and they normally respect the health code, but today, I had a terrible experience. There were a couple people ahead of us so we were waiting in the line to order and I was watching the female server who was transferring the food from the old containers to the new containers. For the whole time, she didn't wear gloves and handled the food with her bare hands. She held all the scooping utensils and the containers that had food in it and the utensils were placed on top of the food... another thing I couldn't stand was the whole time I was lined up the order, she repeatedly touched her glasses, and her face along with her mask at least 8 times. She was ready to get my order and finally she tried to put gloves on but by that time I totally lost my appetite and try to talk to her personally but she refused. She said "Unfortunately I have other customers so it'd be impossible for me to." So I had to talk to her by the counter. I was a manager at a Japanese restaurant for a very long time and am very familiar with the health code. Especially now with Covid-19, workers have to be extra careful about the health code. They treated me like I was crazy and gave me attitude. When I told the server that I no longer desired to eat here, she said something along the lines of, "Okay! That's fine. Bye." It made me feel disrespected as a customer. I tried to be respectful and not harass them, but they didn't acknowledge that they were wrong and never even apologized. One of my go-to place for my Poke fix. This place is a standard poke bar, where you choose your rice/salad, fish, mix-ins, etc. One thing that is different is that the toppings are self serve! So I don't have to feel bad about putting extra EXTRA crispy onions. It's 4 stars because the amount of fish scoops I get varies each time. Some will give me more and sometimes it's a tiny scoop. A little consistency may be needed in scoops, and don't be so cheap on giving fish. A single scoop of salmon ain't four pieces. read more

I stumbled upon this place while at University Park Center. I was a little nervous to come here given the mixed Yelp reviews. However, I decided to give them a try when I saw they offered tofu as a protein. I ordered a small bowl with brown rice and mixed salad as a base. I added edamame and as sides. My mix-ins were cucumber, cilantro, and pineapple. I topped it off with the gluten free ponzu, crispy onions, and crispy garlic. The ponzu was sweet and tangy. All the veggies were so fresh and crunchy. I also appreciated the generous portions and had enough for lunch the next day. I also thought the staff were friendly. I wanted a gluten free sauce, and they ran me through the options and helped me choose the right one. I also asked if they could take the edamame from my bowl and mix it in with the protein, so it would be covered with sauce. They happily obliged. The worker just kept telling me he saw no such order. I showed both text message from this place to him and order confirmation screen, but he even questioned if I really placed an order. Then he just stopped communicating and kept serving on-site customers. Maybe he was calling his manager but I was ignored for a good over 5min and waiting like an idiot. Finally he asked me what I ordered. Order confirmation screen shows no details of each bowl that I ordered, so, with the best of my memory I asked the guy to make those. The guy gave me a discount coupon for future purchase. But wait, does it make sense to give future benefit to the unhappy customer who thinks there is no more visit?! Overall, very poor business practice. System error or whatever would be forgivable though this restaurant almost just stole my money. But the way they handled the case was far less than standard expectation that everyone else has... After many visits, I would never come back to this place.
