Poke Pola hands down is the best poke place around. I have tried a handful of poke places in the area and nothing else comes close. First you get a good size portion for your bowl. You get three scopes of protein and the fish has always been good and fresh. There is a good amount of toppings to choose from, all included. (Unless you want extra scoops of crab meat and avocado). The sauces are all good, but I go with the Nirvana which has the perfect blend of flavor and spice. It is a bit pricy ($20), but it's worth it. read more

I am a poke lover and have tried several places in Long Beach and everyone said I had to try to Poke Pola. There is a paid lot right behind and also plenty of metered street parking. I went in and was greeted by a nice woman and glanced over the menu and saw it was pretty clear and direct. I ordered the regular size bowl with 3 proteins I did spicy tuna, Aji and yellowtail and then you can add as many toppings if you want, which was my favorite part of the whole experience! The sauces were also good. I think I opted for one of the basic ones and then I also ordered a bowl of miso soup. The whole transaction was pretty quick and everyone there was pleasant and nice and the price wasn't too high either. I got the food to go and ate it when I got home. The only thing I wasn't 100% into was the spicy tuna. It was like the spicy tuna you'd find in a spicy tuna roll and I was expecting ahi tuna with spicy mayo, so that was just a learning experience. My mom and I personally enjoy their outdoor seating especially in warmer weather because it's fun to see all the life happening on Belmont Shore. I recently messed up my order through UberEats. Although I could not resolve the issue on the UberEats app itself, I called the restaurant, explained the situation and the management at Poke Pola went ABOVE and BEYOND in helping me resolve MY mistake on their end. On top of how amazing their food is, I love that this is a family-owned establishment with owners who seem to care about both their employees and customers. Basically anything you want to add to your bowl that is very typical in a poke is an extra charge of $2: seaweed salad, masago, crabmeat, and avocado (which this one is normal). At the price of $19/$22 for a bowl, you would expect the normal poke items to be included with the bowl, so that's just very weird, I've never seen a place up-charge for those things. The quality is okay though not anything that stands out, but not bad either. The service is also very bad. We decided to also get ice cream from their fridge, which had pricing labels on the fridge door. So we got multiple and realized they are charging almost double what is listed, and they told us that both of the prices that are labeled are for "a different ice cream", neither of which they actually had inside the fridge, so I'm not sure what the listed prices are for. Instead of apologizing that they are charging us almost double their listed prices, and maybe try to accommodate, they just got very hostile. I actually don't know how they have a 4 star rating, it's very mediocre, especially because the atmosphere isn't nice either, just a very small and dark shop. read more

They have indoor and outdoor seating and it's fun to sit outside and people watch the busy foot traffic on 2nd st while you enjoy your food. 5+ Stars! This restaurant has been my go to spot for the last 2 years that I've been living in Long Beach. I always find my way to Poke Pola for lunch or dinner wether I walk, bike, or drive. They are located off 2nd street which is a great place to be. 2nd street has tons of restaurants, bars, shopping, desserts, and so much more all around. There is tons of meter street parking but it's always full (Good Luck) they also have meter parking in the back. Poke Pola offers a great selection of everything. You walk up to place your order and choose your size, base, protein, greens, spice factor, and toppings. Everything is to your liking so if you would like less or more sauce, you can just let them know and they will do just that. Everything is always fresh, every time i go in I say "it smells fishy" in a good way lol The portions are just right, most people I take say "wow, this is a lot" but I'm like "give me more please" lol They have indoor and outdoor seating, so feel free to bring the pups and enjoy the outdoor seating. The service is always great, the owners are always present and from the outside looking in, they always seem to be doing anything and everything they ask their employees to do. The staff usually seem to be a younger group and they are always very friendly and welcoming. They are very knowledgeable on the menu and always helpful with suggestions if needed. Everyone seems to work very well together which is one of the main reasons I love coming back. A great team and environment brings in returning customers. I'm not in the 2nd St area too often, so I used uber eats too get my food to my job in downtown LB, and it was so fresh that it felt like I was eating this fresh off the fisherman's boat. Jokes aside, I'm really happy with my bowl considering the 3 miles it traveled to get to me. I ordered the large bowl with 2 scoops of seared albacore, 1 of yellowtail and 1 of tuna. I also got two scoops of crab salad because I love that stuff. For the rest of my toppings I got cucumber, edamame, ginger, green onions, seaweed salad, masago, avocado and sesame seeds finished with their "Live a little" sauce. This was my first time seeing tortilla chips as an option for the base so I decided to try that along with my usual rice base. It's like eating poke nachos! Super bomb. Next time I'll probably ask for the chips on the side so they don't start to get soggy on me, but I'm a huge fan of the chips in a bowl! The prices for poke here are quite expensive for what you get! It's about $20 for the large bowl. Also not a big fan of how much sauce they put on the toppings and poke. The rice is supposed to compliment the sauce/poke, but the rice is drenched with sauce. I usually get the house poke sauce but I tried the Nirvana recently which I really liked! I do enjoy the location and the outdoor seating area. The employees are friendly and fast down the line of condiments. The fish here tastes fresh compared to other poke spots in town. Was visiting the area and popped in to get something to take to Sunset Beach. I did half white rice, half field greens. And then for the proteins I had spicy tuna, seared albacore and yellow tail. Topped it off with some green onion, ginger, cilantro, sesame seeds, and finally fried onions. I got some of the Haus poke sauce. FYI, the spicy tuna is all chopped up into fine little pieces. It's very spicy. This is really good although I think I might've gotten a little too spicy. Highly recommend eating it on the beach. read more
