I love poke, and here, it was good but not great. Actually the food was fine, (good enough), but the entirely plastic bowl (with a top, even if you're eating in), felt unnecessarily wasteful. On the other end of the spectrum, having reusable laminated cards to mark your choice of ingredients for your bowl is a nice sustainable idea, BUT once they're horribly grubby, it screams "unsanitary" rather than sustainable. Even though yelp hours show this closed on Saturday it was open when I visited. Unfortunately I may have been better off if it was closed. They were out of bottled water and were unable to even provide tap water. Hope there was running water in the building. The food was fine but definitely not worthy of the ratings on yelp. This used to be one of our favorites for lunch, the poke is decent (but overpriced for what you get) and usually the service was good. That changed in the last few months, and they can't seem to fix their restaurant. I've always placed pickup orders on my lunch break and walked over. The last few months, their website (which uses Toast) would take our order, and we would walk over only to find out THEY HAD NO IDEA we even placed it. Then had to wait 5-10 more minutes while they re-made our orders. Which eats into our lunch break time. They finally said that the Toast app was down a lot and we could call in the order instead. Well that would be nice, but they NEVER ANSWER THEIR G**DAMN PHONES!! Try calling their line right now, and it will ring about 30 times and then say "The voicemail is not set up. Goodbye". We wanted to try this place ONE more time, so we placed a Doordash pickup order. The good news is that they actually got the order, and it was ready on time. But then we got home and it was DRYYYYYYYY, hardly any sauces on it and they forgot to put the eel sauce drizzle on top. NOPE! NEVER giving them our money again!! Fix your ordering system, and answer your damn phones, or you'll go out of business soon!! read more

How have I not reviewed this place yet?!? It has been a favorite of mine for quite some time now, especially after Poke Cat closed :( That was actually how I happened upon this place and it was obsession at first bite. I've tried their poke bowls and some of their hand rolls: the unagi, spam and philly rolls in particular. The unagi and spam rolls are delicious! I have yet to try one of their sushi burritos, but I'm more of a show-off-the-chopstick-skills kinda gal. Onto the bowls: I normally get the 50/50 base with either rice and greens or rice and soba noodles. For the proteins I like two scoops of tuna and one of shrimp, but sometimes I'll sub one of the tuna for albacore or salmon. I love almost all the toppings available and ALWAYS get an extra scoop of the crab salad because it's so good. I love all the fresh ingredients and basically get them all along with the furikake and fried onions from the crunchy list. I finish off with their house sauce and a drizzle of the yuzu for a bright citrusy finish. I've never had an issue with the quality of their fish, and have never gotten sick from it. And usually I get my order through Uber Eats. No complaints here! I type this as my stomach rumbles, not-so-patiently awaiting for my order to arrive. Ok, time to eat! My coworkers and I stopped here for lunch yesterday during our lunch walks. I work close by in this area for 15 years and have seen so many different restaurants turn-over. I used to love Poke Bar further down but that would require driving and so we opted here. One of my coworkers been here before and liked it so the rest of us decided to try it too. This place is more pricey than other Poke places I've been too. All poke bowl starts at $17.99 and for the one size for all, it seems like a medium because it's smaller with only 3 scoop. The salmon quality here is good though, I got 2 salmon and 1 shrimp. Extra for avocado here. Service was great, the two ladies were so friendly! One of us got the salmon hand rolls and the other baked salmon and shrimp tempura. Overall the quality here is great. They also have a pretty fun selection of beers and ciders. But it's pricey. My small/medium, which is a regular bowl here, is $17.99 with taxes and tips it's about $22. I finished my lunch wanting more because it wasn't enough but I guess it's good for my diet... read more

Came here for a late lunch for a friend's birthday after visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific and it was nice. Food: 8/10. Ordered a poke bowl where you can pick out your fish + added sides. I liked how the sides were unlimited. Fish tasted fresh and sides were good, but all of my friends and I said that it was a bit pricey for what we got, so that was one of the reasons why I gave it a 3/5 stars. Service: 10/10. Lady/Cashier in the front was so nice to us when checking us out/handing us our food. Ambiance: Very small inside, so my friends and I sat at the patio area. We all had to use the restroom, but one of my friends who first went in noticed the soap dispenser was out of soap. She found the soap bottle in the restroom, but even the soap bottle was running out of soap, which also added to 3/5 star rating. Again, this could have been an off day. Overall, don't see myself coming back here, but it was nice to experience this restaurant, especially for a friend's birthday. read more

second time here this week!! Poke Pub is a recent addition to the long beach promenade. Street parking is ideal but hard to find. However, there are multiple paid parking garages near by. It's more of a grab and go place but they do have outdoor seating available. The first time I came I tried their salmon and negitoro handroll. Sooo good - fish was fresh and rice was a great consistency. Both super tasty but the Negitoro was my favorite! Today I came back for the Negitoro handroll and to try their yellowtail HR. Unfortunately, they were out of negitoro so I got the Ahi. Both were great and happy I got to try them but the Negitoro remains my favorite. The staff was so kind and gave great recommendations. Every pole place I've been to before you could see the ingredients inside of a glass window and order what you want by pointing to them. At Poke Pub, they have all the ingredients covered and you had to mark up what you want on a paper menu without seeing the food, which was a bit odd to me. I got salmon and albacore as the protein on a base of sushi rice/salad combo - the fish tasted good, but they didn't have as many options for toppings and somehow they were out of Wasabi and furikake (usually staples of poke places). Portion is a bit on the smaller side as well. Overall, not bad, but can't compete against some of my favorite poke spots. read more

Coming in, the staff are super friendly--major emphasis on their friendliness. I ordered the K-BBQ burrito and it was so delicious. It's a take-out style but they have some seating available outside and limited indoor countertop seating. Definitely a limited ambiance since it's a small establishment. While I do miss the sandwich shop that was, until recently, in this location, I'm also not complaining having more sushi options in the area. It's definitely more of a to-go place - they do have some outdoor seating, but we put in an order in online and picked it up to eat at home (better that way anyway - at home I had a whole farmers market avocado to add to the poke bowl!) Order was prepared quickly, and was bagged and ready to pick up when I arrived. Poke bowl was $19 before tax, and there is only one size - but that size is *large*. Tons of great, fresh fish - I wish inflation hadn't hit the price of fish quite so hard, but at least at this price point, they didn't scrimp on anything. We also tried a few of their hand rolls - at $6 each, they were reasonable enough given the quality and size. The poke bowl is a lot more filling, though - I honestly didn't even need any additional hand rolls on top of the poke, I was just too excited to try a couple! (I'm just not entirely sure why they chose the name Poke Pub, when the majority of their menu is hand rolls, haha.) There was one small bit of shell in my crab roll, and a couple small bits of gristle in the tuna, but overall, great fresh fish, great *decent* sized hand rolls with no pretension (I actually really loved their unagi, I could see just walking by and having one as a snack every so often). And yes, note to self, I should also try their sushi burrito sometime. The poke bowl gives you three scoops of fish, though, the burrito only gives you two. As I patiently waited for my order to be prepared, the back kitchen appeared chaotic and frantic and there seemed to be friction between the two people in the kitchen. The picture on the website included avocado, but when my order came up, there wasn't any. When I questioned this, I was told you had to order it on the site and pay extra charge. I showed them that avocado was not an optional item on the menu, and should be included with the order as advertised. The employees were very friendly and helpful explaining the menu and the ordering process. I do believe it is on the pricey side, I paid $20 for my poke burrito and I did not get any extras. I like the outside patio and I would recommend to perhaps add more shade for each of the tables. I wanted to sit inside but it seemed like the AC was either not on or working. A cute little restaurant on the Promenade that's worth a visit! I devoured what I got, so sadly no photos with this review, but here's what I had: - Spicy tuna handroll: A decent 3.5/4" handroll with a good chunk of psicy tuna. $5.25 - Yellowtail handrool: Like the spicy tuna handroll, pretty filling and filled with a good portion of yellowtail and rice. $5.95 You walk into the store and use the menu cards to fill in your options; the little desk has markers and menu cards for handrolls, K-BBQ burrito, poke buritto, and poke bowl to pick from, and whiteboard markers to make your selections. I actually love this - the ability to make your selection and hand off the card to the cashier and pay. They accept card and Apple/Google Pay, so pretty convenient. The inside doesn't have seating, but the patio has plenty; you can choose to dine-in or do take-out. Stopped by for carry-out on a Saturday, as it recently opened on the Long Beach Promenade. I'm going to keep on getting confused with a nearby Poke place with a very similar name...not sure how one should use the term 'pub' and as expected I couldn't find any other Poke place with that term across the US, but it is a nice use of alliteration. I focused on the the ability to personalize using marvelous ingredients, not all of them seafood. They offer shrimp tempura, bulgogi, and chicken teriyaki as choices for the proteins, so you can probably make a mean rice bowl. However, the name guides you to choose seafood, and you have to choose 3 so I went with Tuna (raw), raw Salmon and ebi (cooked shrimp). The base choices are white rice, brown rice, soba noodles, along with salad (went with half soba, half brown). You can also get half & half, explicitly stated (didn't offer half white and half brown rice though I bet they wouldn't mind). I pretty much went with all the toppings (except avocado which is extra) and dry toppings....especially appreciated the imitation krab meat salad (which was very good) and masago. Another thing I appreciated was the effort to hand mix the proteins and some of the toppings with the sauces (thus making Poke) before putting it on top of the base. The finished product was beautiful (as expected) and quite filling. They don't offer smaller portions of the poke bowls like other places (1 or 2 scoops of proteins). It's a bit more expensive than the other poke places around LB (the one bowl after tax and tip, topped over $20), and the freshness/quality of the raw fish is about the same as others in the area (there probably is no way to source the freshness of tuna that one can get in places like Hawaii or Seattle). read more
