Tried this spot because of the good reviews. But if you have been to Hawaii, I can't recommend this…read morespot because the flavors did not remind me of Hawaii at all. Also, nothing is served with mac salad... The prices are pretty decent for SF. Maybe that's why this place is popular. They are takeout only and have one bench outside for you to eat at if it's free. Tried the garlic shrimp, the moco loco (idk why they swap the words), and the furikake chicken. Also had a spam musubi (when I ordered online for pick up, I couldn't add egg which is usually an option according to the Toast website). The garlic shrimp was missing a flavor that Hawaii has in their garlic shrimp. The color was very red but it was not spicy. They do have an option to make it spicy though. It was bland to me compared to what I'm used to when I visit Hawaii. The moco loco gravy was good, but the beef patty tasted dry and overcooked. They did have a runny egg too but it was oddly underneath the patties, so we broke the eggs while trying to split the beef amongst 3 people. The furikake chicken is probably better if you eat it right away since it's lightly breaded. We took it home so by the time we ate it, it was soggy. The sauce it is cooked in is a little sweet and wasn't too bad. The soggy chicken ruined the texture for me though. Each dish was served with a little bit of cabbage which I liked to get a little greens in the meals. The spam musubi didn't taste like it had any sauce, and they used so much furikake underneath the spam, that it made it taste fishy. Would not recommend. I can't comment on the service much since I ordered online for pickup. The guy who handed me my food after asking my name was nice and polite though. The only reason I'd come back is to try to the shave ice. The group in front of me got 3 for their kids, and it looked tasty. I would not come back for the food, but at least the prices aren't bad for SF standards.

We changed from the platter to à la carte dishes and as we were finishing up our order, we got word that the Short ribs were in stock so we ordered one of those as well. We had a large beast, 2 poke orders, garlic noodles, fried rice, loco moco, spam masubi, short ribs, and 2 orders of chicken wings. We had some alcoholic beverages as well and found the yuzu to be delicious, but overall everything was tasty and good. I really enjoyed the chicken wings, very flavorful but truly bummed this place is going to close. Ambiance was nice, I remember people coming here to karaoke and even hanging out to watch games.

The Mai Tai was so easy to drink. It was like juice but so dangerous because they don't skimp on the alcohol. For the poke specials, they do not add fillers. There's a good amount of toppings, and it's a good sizable portion. Fish is decently fresh. Definitely come in for them. Wings are okay, but they aren't the best that I've had. If I was in the area or happy hour crawling again, this would definitely be one of my go to spots.

The portions are generous and the plate was full. I got the katsu and BBQ chicken combo -- everything was fire. The chicken was tender, the katsu was crispy and juicy, and they gave a generous amount of mac salad (which most places never do). I usually have to order double mac, but this was more than enough. Food came out fast, fresh, and the prices are great too. 10/10 --top tier. Highly recommend if you're craving real Hawaiian plate lunch.

Like, when you can't even wait to get home, you have to eat it immediately while it's hot. I knew right then it had to be worth trying. I asked where he got it, and he pointed me to a spot just down the street (not to be confused with the other Hawaiian BBQ place close by called Aloha). I pass this place all the time, but the parking is terrible, so I usually just keep driving. Yesterday I happened to be on foot and finally stopped in. I noticed a PASS inspection sticker in the window (isn't it usually an A? I'll Google that later). It's strictly a food shop. No tables, no décor, nothing fancy. Just a big menu on the wall type of place. The menu is simple about 4-5 meat options and a few sides, and you build your combo. I ordered a small plate since I tend to overeat and appreciated that option. I got the chicken katsu with rice and mac salad and it was perfectly portioned. The chicken was great. No notes. The steamed rice was just a little overcooked but still tasty. The mac salad was decent, though I expected a bit more from what seemed like an authentic spot. Oh and of course, the sauce, so good. My only complaint is they need to pack two sauces in the to go bag, not one. Total came to $10.85, which feels like a steal. It completely satisfied me and definitely beats driving all the way to Chipotle (my usual lunch stop) and spending $15-$18. No photo because I was too hungry and ate it in the car. I'm excited to bring my husband back and see what he thinks.

I tried their Palm House slushy, which was the perfect treat for a warm day in SF! We also loved the food--all the small bites were so delicious that we ended up ordering second and third rounds because they were just too good to stop at one! Beyond the food and drinks, the technology here is a huge plus. They use QR code ordering at the table, which makes the whole process so much faster and more convenient. You don't have to wait for a server to take your order, and you can even settle your final bill directly through the QR code. Everything came out lightning-fast. It's also a top-tier spot to watch sports--I recently came here to watch the World Cup, and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend!

We came for dinner and drinks around 7pm, and it seemed like the restaurant was already transitioning into nightclub mode. There was a DJ and the music was deafeningly loud.
