I went with the recommended Spicy Ahi bowl. This was a pleasant meal. Absolutely will be returning. The assembly line cafeteria style serving ensures you get the perfect amount of masago and as little or as much of the wasabi burn as you want. My first time here. My gold standard is quite high since I lived in Hawaii for 6 years. The Hawaiian Classic with half salmon, half tuna on a bed of greens did not disappoint. Wouldn't normally write a second review for a chain restaurant, but this is definitely my favorite poke spot in Houston. Luckily my workplace is right next door and walking distance, so it was a popular spot for lunching with the team. This particular Post Oak location is my wife and I's favorite due to the great/quick service, large portions (they are generous with the fish!), and cleanliness. My go-to order is a spring mix (or half kale noodle- try it, quite tasty!), two scoops of salmon, extra cucumber, cilantro, edamame, jalapeno, serrano pepper, medium ponzu fresh (sometimes light volcano sauce), green onion, surimi, seaweed salad, masago, thai chili, and lotus chips. As you can see, I load it up and absolutely love the spicy level. Plus side, none of these items are extra which is a big plus against competitors. My only con is that they got rid of the szechuan chili oil that was delicious and added even more of a kick. Tips - recommend getting the app for rewards points, and taking advantage of periodic deals they send via email or app such as $3 off a bowl, or buy one get one free, or 15% off, or buy $25 gift card and get a free entree.... you get the picture, they are all about marketing and it is highly effective. Once I had my sauce completely missing from my 2 bowls when I requested them on the side. Who eats poke without sauce?? They had many safety measures to ensure that everything was staying clean and healthy for everyone. They put chairs in front of the line so that you don't get too close and they are all using masks that seem like the homemade ones they had to bring in themselves. This made the ordering process very hard because you couldn't see the food and point to it and you could barely hear them. I've always been a fan of Pokeworks even before then chained migrated to Houston. I was happy when this one finally opened closer to work. First visit, I picked up to go. When I got back to work, I tasted the masago. It was a very unpleasant and inedible sour. And no- this was not the first time I've had it (as they asked). Upon further inspection, I realized it was clumped in one slimy mass- unlike how it usually is. I called to tell the store, and their response after questioning if I ever had it before was "thanks for letting us know". End of conversation. I let it go, as I've had pleasant experiences at the other locations and sometimes things happen. Brushed it off. My second return a few weeks later, I picked up to-go. When I returned to work, I had a three bites of the toppings. Didn't mix anything up in the bowl. Everything was great until I pulled up some noodles. There was A HAIR. Short and dark black (a few inches) definitely not mine. I was shocked. Then I noticed ANOTHER ONE. All of these were deeply embedded and mixed in with the noodles. I had to pull it out with a lot of resistance, so it wasn't something that had possibly just dropped in. When I called (calmly and politely-just grossed out), the girl was apologetic and then enthusiastically offered me "a free bowl the next time you come in"! I said, that's not free, because I have one now that I can't eat and I paid for. I need a refund. She asked if I was nearby. I said no I returned to work. She said, "sorry, we can't deliver". I said I didn't ask for delivery. She said she can't refund me, but I can send pictures to the manager and maybe he will. I asked for the email and the one given ended in "gmail.com". I repeated because I thought that was a bit odd. She confirmed . When the email did not work I called again and said it was incorrect and repeated. Exasperated she said "it's Pokeworks.com- MA'AM." This kind of ticked me off finally, so I said I have only visited two times and twice food was bad quality. I repeated the masago incident to which she asked, "did someone actually tell you it was expired?" Ridiculous. Finally the email from the manager comes, and they offer a refund, a short apology "and to have a great day!" I agree for a refund but also mention that this is bad customer service . Emailed Response: "alright jennifer . We've processed your refund . Let us know if there's anything else " Ultimately, I paid $12 for a bowl with fish eggs that have gone bad and a bowl with a few human hairs in it. Also some attitude. Thanks! read more

I came in for dinner during their grand opening. The BOGO poke bowls & burritos pulled me in but I was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. Even with the line out the door, we got our food within 30 minutes. In comparison to other poke places in town, this has got to be my new favorite. I had the burrito base with 2 meats and choose your own ingredients, "chipotle- style". All the ingredients were fresh - a must when you are dealing with raw fish. They also had some unique ingredients: lotus chips, spicy furikake, and soft tofu to mention a few. I also had the mango haupia, which was a coconut pudding with fresh mango on top. This is probably my favorite poke chain. I always get a large build your own poke bowl. That comes with three scoops of protein - filling and won't leave you feeling like a balloon afterwards. I fill it with Quinoa, 3 Salmon, Edamame, Hijiki Seaweed, Heavy Pokeworks Classic sauce, topped with Avocado, Ginger, Masago, and Shredded Nori. Yum! You can add more protien for 3 or 4 extra dollars but I personally think the large bowl (3 scoops) is plenty. There's plenty of ingredient options to add into your bowl, it's fantastic. Perhaps a little bit of a nightmare for first comers but they've also got some popular mixes in their Signature Works menu if you don't know exactly what you should mix into your bowl.
