My friend introduced me to Salata and we came to this location and I was blown away. The interior was pristine. Unlimited and so many options for toppings and I love the ability to build your own salad bowl. The staff was so patient with me and let me sample salad dressings before adding it to my bowl. They have changed the game for me. (Like Tom Brady when he's 28 points down with 3 seconds left or whatever he will similarly do this Sunday). Now I'm able to eat delicious salad (and toss delicious salad) for a fairly cheap price (or free since I got these muscles) and get somewhat full off of it (and I'm not the only one that gets full, hi girls) even though it's not as large (I mean, who is, hi boys) as my beloved Salad Extravaganza down the street, which is close enough to walk to. Speaking of street and walking, hi to my sexy gf too! This is my favorite location of Salata anywhere. Yes, you have to go all the way upstairs - usually in an elevator because your gf only wears stripper heels so stairways are tough - to get to it, but once you are there it is so worth it. I'm talking about the Salata and the Stripper Heels too. Stripper Heels doll says: "I like the salad selection, lots of delicious vegetables. They don't get mad at you for sitting in the section reserved by a random religious cult." It's lovely and comfortable, nice service, with big portions and lots of fresh ingredients. Coming from an area where salads are not really popular, my experiences with salad shops would only be with Sweet Greens and CHOPT. Pretty similar set up, you basically go down a row of options and you get to make your own salad! YUMMY! In my opinion what supersedes my expectations is that I can have as many toppings I want to my salad without having to pay extra (i.e. with Sweet Green you can have an "x" number of toppings then you have to start paying extra). Additionally, there's just much more options compared to Sweet Greens and CHOPT. There are 2 different sizes, so order what you see fit, but since I love salads, I opt for the larger size and that bowl is huge! I will note to be careful with the dressing selection. I saw the Ginger Lime dressing and instantly almost ordered that for my salad because I am a big fan of Sesame Ginger dressing, so I assumed it would be very similar. I saw a "P" notation, but there was no clear indication of what that meant, so I asked the person preparing my salad if there were peanuts and at first she said no, but wasn't sure. Luckily, someone else was near by and was able to help out! Clarified that it meant that there were peanuts. DODGED that bullet because I am anaphylactic. Please be precautious! Came in to place an order for my girlfriend, she had everything on a list and to make it easier for the workers and I, I offered to have them read the list rather than me struggle to read everything in order since I've never been here before. She points back at me and says you read it rudely and then proceeds to speak in spanish to the other employees saying "why would he ask me to read off of it" as if I don't know spanish myself. Rude as hell and it wasn't that deep to just read off the list instead of me having to go in order since the food items are split into sections and I wouldn't want them going back and forth to different sections. This joint is on the second story of the Costco strip mall, as far away from Costco as you can get fronting Weslayan and directly above the Panda Express. If you are coming up the disgusting stairs off the Weslayan parking lot entrance then it is on your right so you walk towards Richmond on the second story rather than walking to the left towards West Alabama & the beautiful Pizzeria Solario (that I love) down on the first floor of the complex. This location of the mega chain Salata has it all: extremely surly high school aged salad tossers in the assembly line that look bothered by you simply existing and/or asking for tomatoes; an exterior stairway that is wet at all times and in all weather conditions and smells as if three bums playfully urinated on each other while they were eating spoiled Taco Bell doritos locos tacos; and always has the dregs of baked tofu as if there is only one other half-shark, half-alligator, half-man in the Houston Metro that moseys on in occasionally to take the first most premiere portion of baked tofu every blue moon that always seems to arrive there just before I do so he/she/xe/they gets the good stuff before I get what is left. My suggestions are to invest in soaping and washing down the stairs with your co-tenants, hiring more sage and better help, and treating your next patrons like the truuuu princesses they are to wade through disgusting stair conditions to get to you when they could really easily go back downstairs to Pexpress and get some of that sweet sweet chork action going on in their mouth holes without needing to ascend a sewer of smells in the 90-100+ degree heat. Decided to stop in for lunch since Salata is one my favorite places to eat. I was so happy they built one in Southwest so I pulled over to give it a try. Since my friend has never tried it I swore he would love it. So I wasn't greeted when we walked in which was surprising but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. I chose to get the Salata lettuce mix the woman barely put any lettuce in the bowl so when I requested more she looked at we with disgust and added four pieces of lettuce. I counted it was only four. My rule is be nice they are making your food so I remained courteous. Then every thing I added she added light toppings and I had to ask for more. At this point her service made me not want to return to this location. The next employee was ok not cheerful so it was safe to assume this just isn't a happy team. Overall the location is great, service wasn't good, the quality was of the salad wasn't what I experienced but location was clean. I'm not sure if I'd return to this location. Decided to come to Salata next door after a great workout. I am part of the many trying to do the "new year, new me" lifestyle. I have to say the location is awesome has a great view. The staff el was friendly from greeting me as soon as I walked in to how politely they asked what I needed. Food even though is a salad taste amazing and felt had a great meal. In my perspective it is a bit pricy but being that it's fresh I guess I can pay for it once in a while. Only negative was the fact that the ice / water machine was down but they had an ice bucket and water container next to it and the area was neat. It's assembly line and you just go down the line and pick out every add in you could want. Salad's start out at $8.00, but with an addition of chicken it increases it to 10, seafood is 11. Yes..... kind of expensive for just some rabbit food, but it's fresh and made your way. They also offer a small piece of bread which basically looks like one of those bolillo rolls from Walmart cut into 4's and smeared with a little butter or EVOO.....I say pass on that and save the calories. They offer wraps which are about 1-2 bucks cheaper (depending if you get the chicken or seafood), soup and have a small Greek Yogurt bar area- both of which I want to try! There are two things keeping this from 5 stars one the price- little expensive and two the fact that they only offer chicken- no ham/turkey/bacon/etc.... Who doesn't enjoy bacon bits on their "Big Salad?" All in all Salata is an interesting lunch spot, I will definitely be back. read more

Just meh. After hearing both a coworker and my beautician rave about how good this place is, I finally gave it a shot for lunch. This particular location is on the second floor of a two story plaza which means patrons must walk upstairs or take the elevator up. Parking and traffic are bad. There are signs posted about a free indoor garage but it I opted to park in a nearby lot and walk. My the interior of the place was very clean even with the afternoon lunch crowd. Granted, it was a weekend so it could be different during the week. I was welcomed by an employee who commenced to making my salad. You basically choose the lettuce(s) you want and then the employee goes down the line grabbing a handful or scoopful of toppings you select. They are TONS! The biggest drawback for me was the salad dressing. They have several varieties but I was not a fan of what I tasted. I sampled Ginger Lime which I didn't like because it had an Asian flair. I didn't really taste the ginger or the lime to be quite honest. I should have sampled the fat free tomato and was disappointed when I stuck a fork in. I thought that would be safe but wrong. I can't really describe the flavor but it seemed to lack the vinegar base associated with a typical vinaigrette. I asked for an old faithful, honey mustard, as a backup and I'm glad I did. That one was good. However, they charge one dollar for an extra dressing. I felt that was highway robbery because the container was so small. Overall, this place was just ok. Selection and final product were great. Drawbacks were: Feeling too rushed to look at everything, tiny portions of add on veggies (e.g. cauliflower, cucumber, etc.), price/value.
