Poke Bowl - Regular (2 Proteins)

Solid poke chain with good quality and selection of ingredients! I like that you can get as many toppings as you want and also have the option to have your poke seared or fully cooked. I built my own two protein bowl with salmon and chili crisp chicken and enjoyed both. Seaweed salad does not cost extra here! I appreciated that I could order sauce on the side to have full control over what parts were sauced. I was surprised that if you order dine-in, they serve the poke on a plate with metal utensils! There is only one table indoors, but I'm guessing people usually don't go to Pokeworks to dine in, and they have additional seating outside. The guy working was super nice and offered to take a photo for me and my friends when he saw us struggling to set up a self-timer

For $25, this was really disappointing.. The portion size felt small for what was supposed to be a large (3 protein) bowl. The overall presentation and value just didn't match the price. Hoping it was just an off day.

The poke is pretty good and very fresh! I really enjoyed the sauces- as they were a bit different from other poke places. The service was also great, they gave me extra sauces when I asked for. The shop itself is very small with limited seating, but still clean and efficient.

Ohoho, a solid create your own poke bowl spot on Castro! I ate in during lunch time and it got packed fast from lunch rush. Even then, service was fast and checked in frequently on every table. When eating in, you eat outside on Castro street which can get pretty lively. The food is pretty good. Great flavors and a lot of interesting options that make me want to come back.

Ordered poke for delivery and it was a solid choice. The fish seemed fresh, sauces were tasty, and there was a good selection of toppings. Overall a really good poke spot for the price.

5 years later and even though there has been many changes to the menu (please bring back lotus chips!) throughout the years, it is still by far our favorite poke place in the area. The service there is always wonderful as the people working there are always so nice and helpful. The poke is absolutely delicious and doesn't compare to other poke places around. Highly recommend if you're in the downtown MV area and are in the mood for a quick delicious meal! There is no sit down area inside so little ambiance indoors, but plenty of chairs outside for you to enjoy your meal if you don't want to takeout and eat at home. FYI if you have your old poke punch card, bring it in and they will give you a really nice discount on your order! They have stopped giving the cards out and everything is online now with their app.

Poke Bowl Regular with salmon and seasoned lobster

The food was great. I added the north Atlantic seasoned lobster to my poke bowl, but they gave me 1/4 of a teaspoon of lobster not a scoop like you would get with salmon or tuna. I was really disappointed by that. They also missed a couple of toppings like sweet corn, shredded kale, pineapple. A bit concerning if they do not follow the order. The portion is definitely smaller than last time. And the wasabi tasted fake. Seems like they have changed the wasabi compared to last year when I came here. There seasoning is always good though. Love there house sauce and ponzu. There service is good. You can place your order in the self service kiosk and they will automatically print out your receipt. The place is very small, but there are plenty of tables outside where you can dine. The ambiance of the place is nice and cute. I am not sure if I would come here again given how small of a portions they gave (especially with the lobster and the toppings).

Small shop compared to the one I go to in Irvine occasionally but it was consistent so nice to know it seems to stay the same store to store. Parking in this location can be found behind the shops at the free 2 hour parking public lot. Came in here on 3/9 in the afternoon and the employee who took my order was very nice and friendly. He was also generous with portions which we all appreciate considering the price. Thank you!

Ordered via a tablet screen, enjoyed the option to pick my own toppings and view all the options. A couple things I'm guessing they were out of some toppings that I selected but it was still a tasty meal. Ordered to go (since I figured I wouldn't finish) and sat outside

    Spicy Ahi

Honestly a little disappointed. Order was slightly wrong as I missed half of my base and the bowl was just sad to look at. I'm a bit spoiled with fresh fish in Seattle so there may be strong bias and my standards for poke may not reflect the average San Francisco experience. Spicy Ahi with Half Rice and Half Salad - actually just half rice and no salad. The amount of rice was a bit pathetic. Fish wasn't super fresh. Masago roe was stuck together, almost frozen and also firm. Disappointed a bit overall but it's a good snack with the amount, I guess. Hawaiian Classic with Half Rice and Half Salad - they got the half and half right but the bowl still tasted lowish quality and was pretty small at the price point.

If I'm paying $20 for a bowl of poke it better be good and thank god it was! I'm a pokeworks enthusiast and I'm so glad the quality still holds in MTV. The cashier/ server on Friday at 6:00 PM was a gem, he was so sweet and packed my bowl upon my request. Although I wish they had spicy tuna/salmon protein option here, I'm still happy with my bowl and it kept me satisfied for the rest of the night. I will definitely be returning whether it is for lunch or dinner on my work trip.

There are so many poke options on doordash that it can quickly become confusing and overwhelming. We decided to give this place a try due to proximity and good reviews. Got the regular bowel with 2 proteins (ahi and salmon), lots of add-ons and the classic sauce on the side. In terms of the ordering process, I really liked the ability to customize the amount of sauce as well as to have the sauce on the side. I was also glad that the options were a bit more limited than other poke places (I get major decision fatigue when there are too many choices). I also liked that seaweed salad and crab salad are free. Food wise, everything tasted super fresh! No fishy taste at all. You can tell that the fish is good quality. The sauce was nice and tangy. I loved the crab salad and soft tofu - never had this in poke before but it worked! The portions are not huge but also not skimpy. My bf and I actually shared this bowl. All in all very solid place. Maybe one of the best, if not the best, poke place I've been to in the Bay. Will def be back! P.S. the only annoying thing is that I initially tried to order via their app for the $5 off your first order. But the app is super glitchy and the reward didn't show up. I tried several times before giving up. That's my only gripe... But the food more than made up for it!

My friend treated me to lunch today. I chose this place because I wanted something semi healthy. I found 2hour street parking right next to this place. We used the kiosk to enter our order and went outside to wait. We waited and waited and waited. Wow! Maybe they had to go fishing to catch the fish or something! We waited for approximately 30 minutes for two bowls of poke and another 7 minutes for a musubi. I have never waited that long after placing my order at a poke place. Wow... So my poke bowl had spicy salmon and spicy tuna and a bunch of other topping. I chose half brown rice and half salad. The fish itself was ok, some pieces were chewy. Not the freshest fish around. Taste wise everything was ok. Miso was nice on a chilly day. I was curious about this place for a while. Finally got to try it but I am not in a rush to come back.

Thanks to KQED Late Night Eats, arguably the best food blog ever, I learned about SH Hawaiian Barbeque and Donuts and decided to stop by here when I was finishing late from work and on my way back home. I love Hawaiian food and got a few different items so I could sample a variety. It's important to mention that you are not getting the best Hawaiian food of your life when coming here. However, for a place that is open late, the food is pretty decent. I also got a couple of donuts and they tasted as good as the ones you would get from Krispy Kreme or any generic donut shop. Although I didn't order any, they also have have some Chinese options, which, again, look similar to what you would get at Panda Express. As someone who often finishes late from work, I enjoy having options for places to eat that don't just serve fast food. Again, you aren't getting five star dining here but if you want some decent Hawaiian food or donuts to satisfy your late night cravings then this place is a great option.

It leans m heavily on the greasy side, but it delivers that exact, deeply savory Filipino flavor profile that you just crave. The Winners: The pancit (noodles) was good and hit the spot. The beef with gravy, the classic Beef Mechado (stewed with potatoes in a rich tomato-based gravy), was another highlight, incredibly flavorful. The Critique: (Timing is Key) You should try to time your visit right. If you catch them right at a transition or later in a service stretch, some items can sit a bit. On our last visit, the deep-fried pork belly (lechon kawali) and the chicken adobo were unfortunately on the dry side. Next Time's Order: The Lumpia Shanghai (mini fried pork spring rolls) are light, crispy, and a crowd favorite. Definitely add a side of those on your next trip! Everything is freshly made, the portions are generous, and the meat is packed with flavor. The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the jerk pork was ridiculously juicy and flavorful. I also tried the jerk chicken and NY strip. The chicken actually stole the show--the steak was good, but the jerk chicken had that extra something that made me keep going back for another bite. And of course, the coconut rice and plantains were the perfect companions to all that rich, savory goodness. My only wish? Give me something fresh and refreshing on the side! A little salad, slaw, or something with some acidity would balance out all that richness beautifully. Overall, though, everything was delicious, portions were big, and my Caribbean food cravings have officially been satisfied. Definitely coming back!

This is the first Back A Yard Jamaican Food location I visited when they first opened years ago…read more Now they have multiple locations throughout the South Bay, including San Jose. I came back after many years and also tried the San Jose location. Back A Yard is a good introduction for people who are new to Jamaican food or want something familiar. It's not quite like authentic Jamaican food cooked at home, where you get more of those bold spices and seasonings, but I understand they're cooking for the masses. Overall, the food is decent, the service is always good, and the portions are okay. Definitely not a bad choice when you're craving Jamaican food.
