I lived in Hawaii for 17 years, where poke is practically a religion, and this tastes like someone from Long Beach saw it on the Food Network and decided to start it themselves without actually doing any research; also, they baaaaaaarely put any fish in the bowl, it's mostly all vegetables and rice. They are so great that I visited on two days, consecutively. The layout is open with a few seating options, such as communal tables or high top tables. I'm not really a fan of communal seating arrangements unless I'm eating hibachi, but it is what it is. Choices, choices, choices is what you will find here. Do not order online and expect to get what you ordered. Better to stand in line and watch them make your bowl with generous servings and making sure they don't short you. I ordered a large bowl which comes with three proteins but only got two of my proteins and the manager said I would have to request a refund through the online system. I visit this poke spot when I'm in the area and am craving sashimi but want a little more bang for my buck. Been here a total of three times so far and each and every time the place is well lit, neat, and tidy to the T! Everything from the utensil station to the bathrooms- they even have the little signs on top of the tables aligned neatly, which I appreciate. As for the food, the ingredients are incredibly fresh and lay very neatly in their containers, you can absolutely taste the freshness! The line is quick, and the employees are courteous. They have you in and out in no time with absolutely no problems, but, if you're in a rush, you can always order ahead of time via the app and just pick it up and go! Simple, quick, and easy. There's also even the option of delivery through third party services like Uber, Doordash, Grubhub, and Waiter. Endless of options all at the tip of your fingers. Overall, the food is amazing and the portions are always fair! Even when you're paying extra for things like avocado and tobiko- they make sure you're getting enough of what you payed for. Alas, I'd like to mention my most recent visit. I was serviced by a man I think who went by the name Vinh? He looked to be Vietnamese (only mentioning this for the purpose of praise). He was SO kind and accommodating. I am an indecisive person and not once did I feel like he was annoyed or was trying to rush me. He let me know right on the spot that if there was anything I wanted extra of to just let him know and was being very patient with a pleasant attitude throughout the whole building process. I did a togo order and decided to make my own. So I made two separate bowels. The first one I made was a smash! I loved it and so did my husband. My second one was lacking stuff and was too fishing so I added more cucumbers & sriracha. The Tuna & albacore tuna were very fresh and yummy. Salmon was good also, maybe not with spicy salmon. It was very mushy. haha ( totally my fault ) I used white rice for both bases. All of the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Ok so I've been going to this place for a while but today was the last time I come to this place. Prices went up. I went in there today and ordered a 2 protein bowl. Typically my bowl looks full and has plenty of everything I order but today the server Lucy R just seemed to be adding barely anything in the bowl! From the lettuce to the ingredients but what really ticked me off was the fact that she said she " I can only put 4 shrimp in the 2 protein bowl." Like really?!! I paid $14.02 for 4 pieces of shrimp and 6 small squares of spicy salmon?!!! It wasn't like this before and believe me, I would've dropped this place the moment I noticed that. People getting stingy in this economy and hiking up the prices for LESS is disgusting!!! Trust me when I say this, people will notice and your business will go down. This place has the worst service imaginable. Would give 0 STARS if it were possible. The guy taking care of me was confused, kept stuttering, was not welcoming at all. The quality of the food is despicable. I normally don't do reviews but the smell of the tuna and salmon is cause for concern. I tried calling them but no answer. You are better off going to another poke place. I recommend poke chef it is right down the corner from this location.
