I got the large bowl with 5 scoops of protein for $15.49. The fish here are pretty fresh, and I really like their salmon and shrimp. The sauce options are tasty as well, although I prefer more spicy sauce since their "dynamite" and "ponzu wasabi" are both pretty mild for my personal taste. There are only 2 tables outside if you want to dine in here, but I noticed that most people do to-go takeouts. Overall, food is good and fresh so I recommend! read more

Had a terrible experience with poke bar on 3/31 morning :-( my bf and I frequent at poke bar for healthy and fresh poke bowls since service is usually great and the workers are always generous with their portions. However, today the worker totally scrimped us of our fish. The fish to rice ratio is just sad - simply the stingiest portion ever. She didn't even bother filling the entire scoop spoon. When my boyfriend mentioned something she proceeded to chuckle and give one extra piece of fish. Poke bar customers - make sure to not go Sunday noon time. A medium bowl with 3 small scoops of fish will cost around $12.50. I had asked for half salad, half brown rice and the lady gave me about 6 pieces of mix greens. For that price and stingy-ness, the avocados should be free. Their sauce combos are a pretty good mixture and theres plenty to choose from. I met up with Karissa L. at Poke Bar for lunch and it was her preferred choice for poke in the area. She doesn't steer me wrong and we had a light lunch. A small was 2 scoops and contained a lot of fish. The taste of the sauces and toppings here were great and I just wish the portioning of your base was a bit more. The scallop and albacore were good and I added a combo of shoyu and dynamite. Didn't find it too salty overall. Just sort of average poke, in my opinion. I paid $11.49 for a medium-sized bowl (3 scoops of fish), but it didn't seem like a lot of food for the price. The toppings and sauces are quite ordinary; nothing stood out to me as particularly noteworthy. I had the miso dressing drizzled with the house sauce, but in the end my poke bowl came out quite bland and dry. I had to add a packet of soy sauce just to enhance the umami flavor a little, which is something I've never had to do anywhere else. I appreciated the fact that they have a buy-ten-get-one-free rewards program, but I don't think I will come back enough to ever take advantage of it. The medium has less fish and toppings than Boy Poke and All About Poke's small bowls. Not to mention their mediums have about twice the fish and topping portions for the same price. 50% off poke bowls is too great of a deal to pass up. Even with the iffy reviews and lackluster photos, I knew I wanted to try it out. Compared to other poke places like Poke N Roll and Poke Salad Bowl, Poke Bar definitely needs to step up its game in making the food tastier. Because they're still in the soft opening stages, hopefully they can take all these critiques and really work hard on making Poke Bar a great poke establishment in Arcadia. Pros: -The amount of fish they gave out was pretty good. After I finished all my rice and ingredients, there were still a good number of salmon and tuna pieces in my bowl. -Salmon and tuna tasted pretty fresh. The other fish didn't look too appetizing. -I like the fact that the toppings are all included - even avocado! -It's interesting how the small, medium, and large all include the same amount of rice, salad, or chips. The only difference is how many scoops of fish you get. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. Regular price small is $6.99 with 2 scoops of fish, medium $8.99 with 3 scoops, and large is $10.99 with 5 scoops. Cons: -I ordered a combination of white and brown rice. Both of them were incredibly dry, nothing like sushi rice that a poke bowl should have. The rice tasted old and hard, which really made the bowl taste bland. -The workers need a bit more energy. I guess they're still getting the hang of things, but like John T. mentioned, when I was anticipating the toppings for my bowl, the guy helping me barely stuck the tongs inside. I had a really small amount of seaweed salad, cucumbers, and edamame. They also were really confused when I asked them pretty basic questions. -Avocado was not in season, so the slices were really hard to bite into, not creamy and soft. -Apparently the bowl comes with ponzu sesame sauce. So I asked for sweet soy to be mixed in with my toppings. But after everything was mixed together, the bowl tasted sauceless. There was no flavor and no taste. I think I'll be back a few months after their grand opening to see if things have improved. The poke invasion has finally arrived to Arcadia! Saw some check-in's from Laine and Amy C., and a picture posting of the soft opening by Tiffany C. last night. So the knowledgeable thing to do is play a fun game of Monkey See and Monkey Doo this afternoon and evening. Number of visits: Yes, I admit it.... I went twice! Once they opened at 12pm and once in the evening. Soft Opening: Oct. 8-11... 50% off from 12pm to 8pm. Get on the deal before it's gone! Location/Parking: Sandwiched in between Subway and Rita's. Plenty of parking to go around! Ambiance/Decor: I just didn't feel positive energy and maybe the lack of decorations made this place look flat. Limited amount of modern furnishings to sit and eat. There are 2 or 3 tables outside to eat. Experience: 2 visits for today! Visit 1- I was greeted by Sam (manager) and one other staffer. They appeared kinda friendly and attentive, but were understaffed. Line started forming after i left at 1pm. Ventilation was pretty bad. My eyes were getting irritated by the cutting of onions in the kitchen. Things got worse when the power went off. So the place was like a sauna for probably 10-15 minutes (felt like a lifetime). -Food: I ordered a medium size salad bowl base (Choice of 3 toppings). I had my sights set on the spicy tuna, but sadly, it wasn't ready. He told me that it was going to take 30 minutes. I elected to go with regular tuna, salmon, and octopus for the fish. For the toppings, I got the greet onions, seaweed salad (additional $1 for another scoop), avocado (additional $1 for another scoop), cucumber, and crab meat (additional $1 for another scoop). For the sauce, I got the concoction of Dynamite sauce and Wasabi Aioli. Lastly, I topped the bowl off with fried garlic, crispy onion, Furikake, and chili flakes. I thought the food was just okay. Nothing really to write home about besides the portion control and maybe the avocado (it was ripe yet and wasn't pleasant eating warm avocado.. Visit 2: Staffers were a bit flat. Might need a little bit more pep in their step. More mechanistic than humanistic! This Asian male staffer appeared to be scared to stick the spoon into the toppings to fully maximize the surface area and hard of hearing. Felt like a broken recorder at times. Total buzz kill when I told one of the staffers to go light on the sauce and they end up giving me more than I wanted. This other staffer decided to make a pile of fried garlic, crispy onion, furikake, and chili flakes. Couldn't even see my poke no more. I know I could have said something, but the damage was done. -Food: Basically orderd the same from lunch to see if they were consistent, but nope didn't come out that way. Will I come back? I came here with a friend for their soft opening (all poke bowls were 50% off) and we were disappointed that they always seemed to run out of salmon whenever we got there during our 2 separate visits. But other than that, I do like the quality of the fish they have available. The yellowtail was very good. I like how all of the toppings were free (especially the avocado!) but extra servings of those toppings would cost you some money. It seems one of the latest trends is the build-your-own poke bowl. They're popping up everywhere and it's easy to view it as a healthy alternative. This one, which opened in late 2015, is located in the Pavilion's parking lot off of Baldwin, right next to a Subway. If you're reading this and planning to go for the first time, you may need to know the following: (which are not mentioned on their menu boards) Small for $7.99 1 scoop of rice, 2 scoops of sushi. Medium for $8.99 2 scoops of rice, 2 scoops of sushi Large for $10.99 2 scoops of rice, 5 scoops of sushi You can choose white rice, brown, spring salad or fried wonton sticks. Don't expect a pile of sushi if you choose the 3 or 5 scoops, all sizes fit into the same size bowl. Then you choose which sushi you want: salmon, tuna ... even octopus or scallops. Next, you pick from several types of sauces: shoyu, dynamite (mild spicy) , volcano (extra hot) and a few others. Then you get to choose toppings, like sliced avocado, seaweed salad ...etc. I went old school (before poke became a trend in Cali) and went for the large: 2 scoops of salmon, 1 tuna, 1 spicy tuna, 1 yellowtail on white rice. Added a bit of seaweed, avocado and dynamite sauce. Flavor was very good. Fish tasted fresh, sauces worked well. Overall, quite tasty. I would go back. The decor is very plain. Finally someone opens a poke bar in the Arcadia area! My second visit to it ~ Small little shop but really quaint, clean and friendly. Fish is fresh and plenty of toppings and sauces (8+) to choose from. About 15 fresh toppings to select from plus your typical furikakes etc. I just wish they had Hawaiian Red Sea salt as an option to bring the island side to this place. They have a good spicy sauce. The owners are really friendly and they even have a loyalty program. Your typical different fishes (tuna, ahi, salmon, etc) plus shrimp, tako and mini scallops too. Choices of brown, greens or white rice with three sizes. Really good prices here. Even self service miso soup dispenser! Both interior and exterior seating. Disclaimer: This review is solely based on the soft opening. A follow-up review will be written in the future. I was so excited when I heard a poke place would be opening in my neighborhood! Their IG posted a soft opening special of 50% off all of their poke bowls, so I couldn't pass it up. Sizes are standard: small, medium, and large. Medium is $8.99, large is $10.99, and I think small was $6.99 (I didn't really look at it), plus extra for any special toppings you add on. Fish options include yellowtail, scallop, octopus, and other basic fishes. Free toppings include seaweed salad, imitation crab, edamame, ginger, and masago. I didn't notice if avocado was free or not since I'm not into it. They have all their sauces on the menu but only a few were available at the time I ordered. Sauces include sweet soy, ponzu sesame, wasabi aioli, unagi, etc. Out of four or five employees (including the manager/owner), only one of them was following proper sanitation procedures by wearing gloves. Perhaps, since the glove box was on the opposite counter to the topping station, they forgot? Nonetheless, to me, there's no excuse for not being clean. Basically, my mum and I watched in horror as they were scooping fish/toppings into our bowls and walked out praying we wouldn't get sick. I found that the employees had a hard time hearing us through the sneeze guards. I don't think they're being attentive enough-- I had to repeat loudly several times. My bf asked to try the unagi sauce but the employee assisting him just heard "Unagi? Okay!" and proceeded to squeeze it all over his bowl. Kudos to her for being so friendly, but, that's not what the customer wanted. Portions are extremely small. About one tablespoon for a scoop of fish? My mum and I both ordered medium bowls but her's was a lot lighter than mine. Silver spoons were used for toppings, which was very inconsistent from each employee. I think I got 1/4 teaspoon of masago on one of my medium bowls. There wasn't enough sauce so everything overall felt quite dry. Rice to fish ratio is unproportional. Also, the rice could have been cooked a few minutes longer. However, the medium bowl did fill me up, but I'm thinking it was because there was so much rice. Again, I do understand this was a soft opening, but many of the issues could have been worked out prior to opening. In a sea of restaurants sits the lone poke joint in the city of Arcadia. Strategically located in the same plaza as LA Fitness and just a stone's throw away from Santa Anita Mall is a small little poke storefront sandwiched in between Subway and Rita's. The store itself is quite small with just a few tables inside and a couple outside. As you move down the line, you'll start with your size, base and fish. They have a few more sauce options than their poke competitors so I had to ask to sample some. I like my unagi sauce but it's probably only appropriate atop unagi, so I went with their spicy garlic. It's oil-based and not creamy for those trying to cut out dairy but their dynamite sauce is a fan favorite. For a medium bowl ($8.99), you get 2 scoops of your selected base and 3 scoops of your selected fish. I asked for a single scoop of white rice and opted for my usual: spicy tuna, yellowtail and albacore. The cubed yellowtail and albacore were especially firm and smelled fresh. The best quality of fish I've had at a poke joint in the SGV. The only thing that was a sliver of disappointment was that they didn't mix my vegetables in the sauce. The cucumber wasn't pickled nor flavored so that part was the only downfall. Overall, Poke Bar dishes out some legitimate poke and can easily compete with their surrounding rivals. They have free scoop of avocado and they serve TWO DIFFERENT types of fish for a small. Their small is even quite large of a meal to satisfy any sized craving. The fish is also very fresh! And I love their selection of toppings. This place is located in a small shop in a large plaza, so parking should be fairly easy to find. Finding parking is often a pet peeve... I rather go to poke shops in Pasadena and Monterey Park because they have better fishes and larger serving, so it's not the rice. The shop is tiny; there's not a lot of space for people to eat. The design in the shop is average. The parking lot is pretty big, so because there are multiple stores next to it. Unfortunately, when you're eating raw fish, it's easy to tell if it isn't that fresh. The fish didn't taste bad, but just had that not so fresh fishy taste. I ordered a medium bowl ($8.99) which included three scoops of fish. I choose tuna, salmon and yellowtail. I opted for the Wasabi Aioli sauce and I liked the flavor! They also included seaweed and avocado as toppings free of charge so that was nice! The portions were relatively nice and the bowl was enough to fill me up. Poke Bar is pretty good and a nice addition to the Poke trend in the 626. I wouldn't mind coming back if I am ever in the area and craving for some Poke. Keep up the good work! read more

The Asian girl receptionist/cashier is so rude! !! I ordered on the phone on 10/24 730pm and picked at at 745pm (owner can find out who worked on that day if you care) She hung up on me on the phone but I didn't finish placing my order. When I went to pick up she literally yelled at me like "YOU ARE ALL SET" and when back to the kitchen right away.... Didn't bother to say hi or thank you and Ignored my thank you. Excuse me??? I used to love this Poke restaurant. Awesome value and servers always putting a lil extra meat. Recently it's been pretty obvious the chain is cheaping out on the ingredients. However, you can't raise the prices and also lower quantity. Either the chain is cheaping or someone slacking. Every other store like Ahipoke is still filling my bowl to the brim where my food is touching the lid. You can definitely get better value else where. read more
