Ordered two medium bowls, one with spicy tuna and salmon and one with albacore and scallops. Of the proteins, I would skip the scallop and salmon was the clear winner. Scoops are a smidge small compared to the base but the unlimited toppings help balance it out. The toppings were all fresh - especially loved the edamame, cucumber, fried garlic and shallots, seaweed salad and crab meat. Sauces sort of blend together if I remember right, you can only choose 2 and I did wish there was a bit more sauce. Dynamite and ponzu wasabi are my top picks.

We enjoyed our poke bowls, my favorite was the salmon. I ordered a small with salad. I like their sweet unagi sauce with sesame & shoyu. I love all the unlimited add-ons like edamame, corn, pineapple, red onion, cucumber, seaweed, sesame seeds, furikake, fried garlic & shallots. You get 1 free scoop of masago & krabmeat. It's a lot of food for a small bowl. Or you can pay an extra $2 for medium bowl & get 3 scoops of protein instead of 2. They have a few tables & chairs for dine-in or you can get it to-go.

Way to feel unwelcomed. I originally wanted to try the noodle restaurant next door but they hadn't opened yet so I decided to give Poki Bar a try. Also, they didn't have any customers so I thought I'd support their business. On my way in, I saw a promotion on the window for 20% online pick-up orders. I began browsing their menu on my phone to place an order and one of their employees tried to kick me out for looking at my phone in front of their restaurant. Like seriously, there was no one else there, why so rude? Instead of asking me if I needed any help ordering, they tried to ask me to leave. Since I was already there, I placed an order anyway. The food was mediocre, flavorless and portions were small. Scallop tastes like it was sitting around and was warm. I won't be coming back nor recommending this place to anyone.

I love how bomb my poke bowl came out. I was helped by Sarah who was super friendly and patient. She walked me through everything and helped me get my bowl to perfection. Thank you so much! Also, the inside is really clean and music wasn't extra loud. Made everything better.

Sad this used to be my favorite spot when I was in highschool and I just moved back to the area. Size wise is awful smallest bowl I've seen for poke and came out to $18.22 not worth I've had huge platters large size for that price lol. Fish quality isn't there anymore doesn't seem fresh.

What's up: Had a craving for poke and did a search nearby to see what was around. Parking: Located at Arcadia Hub Shopping Center, parking is plentiful along the shared businesses. Environment: Limited outdoor seating is available. Since I placed an online order ahead of time, I was able to grab and go. There was one staff member working the counter. The place is clean and simple and the menu is displayed on the right wall. What was ordered: - Nari Bu: Dynamite Salmon w/Furikake, Spicy Garlic Shrimp w/ Green Onions, Garlic Spicy Tuna w/ Unagi Sauce, Spicy Garlic Tofu w/ Red Onions (yummy and unique but the tofu was a bit bland) - CaLee Bowl (California roll in a bowl. Mix it up for to make it yummy and creamy) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Food was good and ready when I arrived. The Nari Bu was interesting and unique. And I was pleasantly surprised by the CaLee Bowl. Overall, things were good. Credit cards and ApplePay are accepted.

The only thing that wowed me was the portion size and not in a good way. The medium size which is 3 scoops is pretty much the same size as my palm and I don't have big hands by any means. The beef bowl was even smaller! Lol so if you're a hungry person, this is not the spot for you. I've had better tasting poke for better price and bigger portions. I added shrimps for one of the scoops and I think they put like a handful of miniature pieces. They were tiny!!! I think these portions are made for people on a diet. I am far from being on a diet so it's a no from me.

Large - 5 scoops poke and 4 piece Inari sushi
    Ann C.

I love it when my BF finishes the gym at the same plaza and brings poke home for dinner. He also brought the 4 piece of inari sushi. The Large Poke 5 Scoops comes with plenty of fresh fish. It's big enough for both of us to share. Although the inari sushi was good, it was a little too sweet and the rice was a little too wet for my liking. If we get it again, I probably would tell them to go easy on the sauce.

Thank you chefs and staffs for a wonderful dining experience.

Dating back to the 2nd Century BC; sushi was a favored Japanese cuisine far before any methods of…read morerefrigeration were yet invented. In order to keep fish fresh; rice was laden with rice vinegar and the fish marinaded in soy rice to keep the fish from spoiling (the rice was discarded and only the fish was consumed). As time went on, the art of sushi evolved to where the rice was eaten alongside the fish and during the Edo Period: this method of quickly fermenting with vinegar preventing spoiling; allowed for sushi to be served as street food without refrigeration even as the nigiri style so popular was born. If you are interested in this quick prep Edomae style of sushi; look no further than Arcadia's Sushi Kisen (which I assume is a play off the Japanese word, 'kaizen' meaning 'better, improved' so "better sushi") being one of the few Edomae sushi restaurants and Arcadia's first. Sushi Kisen offers 30-40 fish weekly shipped in straight from Tokyo twice a week! Located in a small corner shopping plaza on Baldwin Ave near the Arcadia intersection (about a mile from the LA Arboretum); the parking lot can be a bit congested as the plaza is filled with numerous restaurants, a bakery, a tea spot, etc. Crossing the threshold into Sushi Kisen reveals a medium-sized eatery with a sushi bar, wooden slat room dividers, and a dining area with tables and booths. Sushi Kisen eschews any bells and whistles in interior design for simplicity but the lines are still modern and clean to their benefit. My boyfriend and I were initially seated but quickly moved to allow our table to be used for a reservation that just phoned in; and thus, we were moved to a tiny back corner table where my I was two inches from the register and phone. This isn't awful, per se, but I was continuously becoming very friendly (metaphorically) with staff using the register and/or answering calls. It just didn't make me feel wholly welcome. For our sushi feast, my boyfriend and I ordered Mozuku seaweed ($8.00), Assorted Vegetable Tempura ($10), Deluxe Sushi Dinner (chef's choice nigiri and rolls, picked vegetables, miso soup, miso dressing salad - $45), Japanese King Mackerel Nigiri (2 pieces - $14), Unagi Eel (2 pieces - $13), Fatty Blue Fin w/ Takuan roll (12.50), and Glass Shrimp (2 pieces - $21.00). I am just going to get right into the nitty-gritty and say I simply did not like Sushi Kisen, at all. It might just be me (the restaurant was full so clearly people like it) and maybe I just don't gel with Edomae style. My favorites - the miso soup, salad, pickled vegetables and vegetable tempura - weren't even sushi! I love seaweed salad so I made the mistake of thinking this seaweed would be similar but it was a bowl of slop straight from the ocean and I found it putrid and inedible. But again, that may be my fault for not knowing. But what WASN'T my fault were my issues with the actual sushi: the glass shrimp was okay but a super weird texture and not worth $21 and would make more sense at half that price. The Japanese King Mackerel was the worst king mack I have ever had! It was grossly briny and "muddy" and tasted of poor quality even though I know it wasn't (but it shouldn't taste that way!). None of my boyfriend's Deluxe Sushi Dinner was that appetizing either and he didn't seem overly impressed. The Fatty Blue Fin roll was fine... but I truly sensed no flavor of any sort being simply bland. But at least it wasn't gross like much of the others that were not worth their price points. The eel was perfect - I am glad they didn't ruin that because I have quite the romance with eel. Again, I'll take some of the blame that maybe Sushi Kisen just isn't my preference but I think it runs deeper and they simply aren't as great as presented (which I can confirm from all of their recent reviews that share my same sentiment). Coupled with odd seating and a very disappointing sushi dinner; Sushi Kisen is simply not for me and a spot best decided for yourself whether worth a visit. To be fair, my boyfriend and I have had worse sushi so Sushi Kisen wasn't God-awful; but definitely not great, either.

The restaurant only has a few booths, a few tables and bar seating inside, so reservations are highly recommended on a busy Saturday night. My boyfriend and I got lucky that they were able to accommodate us within 10 minutes, because there was seating available at the bar. There is a physical Drink menu (sake, beer, etc.) and the food menu can be viewed by scanning a QR code with your phone. There was one cut I did not particularly care for. *7/10 chicken wings *10/10 Beef tongue-- Tender, but firm. Delicious, a must try! *10/10 Ankimo-- creamy and paired well with the ponzu and fresh seaweed *10/10 Fried Seabass-- they served the entire fish, which is rare. *10/10 Sous-vide Duck breast-- must try! *10/10 Nikomi stew--simple, but delicious! *10/10 Matcha Oolong Panna Cotta-- subtly sweet with a smooth texture. It was so good, that we ordered two! The only reason that I only gave it a four out of five stars is because the service was slow. All of our dishes, came out in time, but no drink refills were given and the server never came back to collect our check for payment. So we had to walk it up to them ourselves.
