5 stars Hawaiian Beef Plate Good size portions Mac salad awesome good Rice good Veggies fresh, tender yet crunchy Excellent Meal Minus 1 star for: 1. funky smelling bathroom, was clean, but had raw sewage smell 2. drink station: water tastes like black mold, disgusting taste was very strong.

Wow! Cute mini tote bag with keiki meal this time. Bbq chicken pieces were generous too! ( I'm not complaining...) I substituted scoop of rice for the macaroni salad instead . Pleasant meal in a clean restaurant. Fun Hawaiian style music to enjoy as well.

This Ono Hawaiian BBQ is located in the same plaza as Daiso. I have only tried Ono Hawaiian BBQ once, which was back in January and at the Glendora location. Since my husband and I were in the area this past Saturday evening, we decided to make an online order and pick up in person for dinner. I ended up choosing: Island White Fish Aloha Plate, $12.99 prior to tax- The aloha plate comes with 2 scoops of steamed white rice and a side salad. I don't know why I thought the fish was going to be grilled, so I was surprised to see 4 pieces of fried fish in my to go box (lol, apparently I didn't realize most of the items at this eatery is fried, nor do I pay attention to detail). But I actually really liked the fish. It had a nice light flavor of ginger, which was nice it wasn't overpowering. And because of the portion size of this meal, I shared it with my mom. She also really liked the fish. I liked the salad and felt it was a nice large portion. The rice was perfectly cooked (no soggy or squishy rice here). -------------------------------- ($14.26 after tax) My order was ready upon the time promised online, which was nice. However, I had to wait to pick up my meal because the employee seemed to have trouble finding my name. She also said my name wrong twice so I think that must have contributed to the delay. I think service could have been a little better, but overall, we had a good experience. I would consider coming back again in the near future.

Today I had an interesting experience. I tried many times to place an order online and on the app, but none of my cards worked. Since I wanted to get my order earlier, I tried calling the store while driving there, but I was worried that I might called the wrong location and quickly hung up. I felt bad because it seemed impolite(so sorry). When I arrived at the store, I realized the lady taking my order was probably the same person I had called earlier. After ordering, I go outside for a short walk. When I came back, she remembered me and she told me my order was ready!Thank you to whoever helped me place my order -- you have a kind heart! It made my day!And I love island fire chicken!

The mix, thank you Nelly!! it

got the Mix thank you, Nelly! It was my first time here with my family, and we weren't sure what to order. She recommended the Mix, and I have to say she was absolutely right. My family loved it! Everything tasted amazing, super juicy, and perfectly cooked. The food was spectacular, and we'll definitely be coming back. Thanks again, Nelly, for the great recommendation!

Nice & quick service! I appreciate how they welcome you in and my order was ready in about 5 minutes. Food was fresh & hot which I enjoyed! Katsu was crispy, bbq beef & chicken were seasoned well. I was hungry and everything hit the spot. I am a sucker for their mac salad. Meat was a little greasy but mac salad & abundance of boiled veggies help cut the grease. This one order can be eaten twice because of how big the serving is!

    Uncooked fish

Hats off to the cook. My first time trying the fish and it was raw and mushy. I ripped open the other piece to check and same. I already ate the first bite. If I have the runs later i know why

Surprisingly, I've never been to this particular chain restaurant before. I was pleasantly surprised and shocked when we walked in; every individual greeted us like any other restaurant. I ordered the katsu plate, which came with some sweet-tasting beef, fried katsu, and two pieces of chicken thigh. Alongside that, I also ordered spam musubi (2 pieces). I would say that the two sauces provided (one is like teriyaki and the other is a little more tangy) were great compliments. My favorite meat was the chicken thighs; they were juicy and tender. However, the only downside was the spam musubi. For being almost $7.00, they were underwhelming. I'll definitely come back again in the future to try out the other selections as well. The service was a 10/10, which is very rare to see in a chain restaurant.

I like this Temple City location of Ono Hawaiian BBQ! The food is constantly good and the customer service is polite. Can't go wrong with a Hawaiian BBQ lunch plate at a great value. If your not too worried about carbs, do get extra macaroni salad: they prepare it very well here (flavorful and al dente). Their meats are tasty and doesn't need extra sauce, but it's there if needed. We like it here at Ono Hawaiian BBQ better then L&L Hawaiian!

    Crispy Shrimp (6 pcs)

Deep fried seafood is always my favorite and weak spot when it comes to appetizer. Stopped by this Hawaiian BBQ restaurant to fulfill my cravings after a long day running errands, ordered this crispy shrimp and they were quite amazing. The dining area is very spacious and clean. Staffs are very friendly throughout the dining experience. Shrimp is very fresh and tender, the breading is golden brown crispy, every bite is full of different flavors and textures. Very satisfied and highly recommended. By the way, their customer service is on point, friendly and helpful.  Crispy Shrimp $7.59 -6 pieces of crispy breaded shrimp

Refund only for the Nasty haired fry chicken!

I could like to give Minus 5 starts if available. I paid one of expensive combos for Lunch. Cashier told me eight mins waiting for my meal. I got 15 mins later. First. Try to move first pc of chicken Katsu, So I can add the sauce to my vegetables. Per pictures, you will see a long black hair. I ask the manager to come over, she refused by asking me to the counter. I asked her for a refund and gift card compensation. She only give me a refund without any apology! Excellent Customer service, you did great Job, Leslie! Hope people buying chicken Katsu today, do not get sick or diarrheal!

I had a free lunch, thank you Ono Hawaiian BBQ, the restaurant, and Thuy, our SGV community manager of YELP. It was my first time attending a YELP Elite event, and so excited. I drove there around 1130 am and drove into the plaza from Rosemead Ave, I didn't see any reception or any sign of YELP. Did I misunderstand the time or date? I walked into the restaurant, and only two clients sat inside and were eating their food. I went to the counter and fortunately, the waitress knew the event. She took the RSVP list out and gave me a QRCode card for me to check-in. I got two canvas bags, one from ONO and another from Yelp. I like the Yelp one with a slogan on it, that says MY PHONE EATS FIRST. I also got a temporary tattoo stick, a pin, and a coupon card from the restaurant as a gift. I also got the 2023 Yelpie trophy and Yelpie glass in a separate pack which Thuy had dropped there in advance. Yes, I won the 2022 Yelpie Award but I missed the squad ceremony. I am still learning the functions of the APP. I ordered Kalbi Short Ribs, not because it's the most expensive one, it's because I am a fan of BBQ short ribs, no matter in the Japanese, Korean or American way to BBQ, as long as it's in Flanken style. The Flanken style means the ribs are cut across the bone. Each piece has three to four short sections of bone with a generous portion of meat around them. Normally they are pre-marinated, good for the grill, and much more tender than English Cut, which is normally for braise or stew. It was quick, less than 10 minutes, I got the food. In a delivery bag, there were two boxes, one big and one small, one small container of salad dressing, one fork, and four pieces of tissue. The big box was hot and heavy, I opened it and found 3 pieces of flat short ribs laid at the top, underneath were boiled cabbage, boiled broccoli, rice, and a scoop of Macaroni Salad. I realized I couldn't finish those ribs by only having a plastic fork. I went to the self-service counter and took a knife, also I asked the waitress and got a pair of chopsticks. Thumbs up, they provide chopsticks. The short ribs were tender and juicy, very well seasoned, nice grilled. The only pity was that the meat attached to the bone can't be torn off, they were hard and stuck with the bone. You must try the teriyaki sauce, it's authentic and sweet, I love it. Don't forget it if you are picking take-away, it's on the self-service counter but not in the default package. The boiled vegetables were boiled well, you also can't get soy sauce from the self-service counter. The rice was soft and steamed well and the whole portion was big, enough for an adult. I also had the vegetable salad as the side, it combined with Shredded lettuce, shredded cabbage, julienne carrots, julienne onions, and edamame. Yes, edamame, interesting? But less than 10 pcs of it. The salad was fresh and cold, I liked it. It was becoming crowded when I sat there and had my lunch, more than ten groups walked in, either sat down or took the take-away. Some suggestion: More salad dressing, the dressing in the small plastic bowl was only can be used for half the size of the salad. Provides Shichimi in the restaurant. Don't know what is the Shichimi? The red chili powder you can find in Yoshinoya, Shichimi in Japanese literally means ground 7 chilis and spices. I can add a lot of flavors to the rice and boiled vegetables. Food presenting way. I guess because of COVID, the food was in the box even for dine-in. Otherwise, I strongly recommend that serve the food on a plate for dine-in, it can make the food more like a dinner instead of a lunchbox. The portions are actually quite massive for each dish. All of it was very solid and tasty Chinese food. We were definitely very stuffed after this lunch was over! Service here is solid enough for a Chinese place. They were pretty quick with getting us extra plates to change out our dirty plates and more bowls as needed. And they were quick with the water. We had an incredible feast and would come back to reorder all of the dishes we tried this visit and more: Goi Xoai Muc ($15.99) - Mango salad with squid. Very light and refreshing. This is an unripe mango thinly cut and mixed in with traditional Vietnamese herbs. It also comes with some shrimp chips to funnel up this delicious salad. Oc Mong Tay Mo Hanh ($18.99) - Razor clams grilled with scallion oil. One of the least flavorful items by compare. Both my friend and I felt like the scallion oil was very light on these razor clams but enjoyed it with the sauces from other dishes. Oc Mo Bo Toi ($24.99) - Fat snails prepared garlic butter style. Delicious. These bigger snails makes them easier to pick them out with the skewers they serve this with. Ngheu Xao Bo Toi ($16.99) - Clams prepared garlic butter style. Yum. Juicier compared to the snails and absorbs the sauce well. The clam shell makes it easy to scoop up the sauce and drink it. Oc Len Xao Dua ($16.99) - Sea snails in a coconut milk sauce. One of my favorites but I know it's one of the more difficult ones to eat, cause you'll have to suck on it really hard to get the snail out. But the sauce is delicious and unique. So Diep Trung Cut ($15.99) - Scallops with quail eggs. Highly recommended by staff, They mentioned this was a popular dish. Very decadent. It was a smidge too much food for 2 people but when I asked my friend if she would remove anything, she mentioned it was all a good variety for the meal. My biggest gripe was that the hot pot came with the tiniest portions of vegetables. Prices are quite high and I've been to other places recently with a larger party so I was quite disappointed. The passion fruit soda did not taste freshly squeezed and seemed artificial which was also a major letdown.

Whats the hurry. After all this, I had to repeatedly tell them, that i had already spoken with a server, regarding my order. Just wanted to relax first, catch my breath, sip my beverage. Coming here, I was aware that their tank lobsters would be in the 4-6 pound range. Good for, and ordered by, at least 3-4 people. So when I, as a solo diner, ordered a 4-pound lobster (with no other choice), just for myself, they began to leave me alone and give me more respect. The cut up wok prepared, House Special Newport Style Lobster, arrives wonderfully presented, with heaps of leeks, scallions and jalapenos. My kind of recipe. Truly unique and exceptional. There is no sauce, and only a mild flavor, yet tasty. My biggest concern here was (after reading numerous internet reviews), that the lobster would be rubbery and dry. Not so for me. I lucked out. Problem here is, while there is lots of meat (a 4 pound lobster will yield at the most, about a pound of meat), they do not have, or provide, the essential lobster cutlery, to do justice to this beautiful crustacean. I did ask though. They did not seem to care and told me to use my fork. LOL. Steamed rice is complimentary. So is a soup, with sweet and sour, being the only choice (I did not like this). Either way, my plan was to take leftovers (there was a lot), home, where I possess high class lobster cracking tools. And thank heavens I did. They were most useful, to crack and dig into all the lobster meat, that would have been inaccessible at the restaurant. With additional TLC, the leftovers held up well, to provide several additional lobster meals. Need to go back to try their enticing and reasonably priced variety of lunch specials (more seafood, choices minus lobster). Another sought after box on my list, is now checked.
