Also tried the all the sides, the purple potato mash is pretty unique and recommended. I guess the guy didn't hear the first part and we didn't understand the receipt. I ordered the regular furikake oyster bowl with the mac salad and the portions were pretty big! It's definitely hawaiian style so there's heavier emphasis on the portion of fish and rice rather than lots of toppings. If the intent is to showcase how fresh the fish is, then sure I can like that, but I want deep poke flavors. This is the best poke I've had in all of SGV hands down. I went on a Friday afternoon during their soft opening with my wife. As soon as I walked in I felt the chill Hawaiian vibes! The cashier and chef both answered my question about the poke flavors and I got a poke bowl with half spicy wasabi poke and half premium fresh Hawaiian poke, with a side of seaweed salad. The quality of ingredients here is top notch the premium poke was some of the best fish I have ever had period! I love wasabi so I really enjoyed the spicy wasabi poke as well it was a great contrast to the premium fresh Hawaiian poke, I was really happy with my poke picks. One way you can tell a poke place is amazing is how good the sides and rice are, the seaweed salad was very good it tasted incredibly fresh. The rice here is amazing I could not believe how good the rice was, it was fluffy, it was warm, and it was to die for! Every time I had a bite of poke I had to follow it up with a bite of rice it was bliss! Learned about this pop up on instagram when they were doing a collab with a local staple last month - B&C Teryaki - so we had to check it out! Their poke is fresh with generous portions and tasty sauces! And they do this collab pretty often so keep an eye out on their Instagram page. When I visited, they were operating out of the B&C Teryaki kitchen so you order at their window. They have a couple of menus available where you order. We opted for two poke flights which came with a sampling of their three poke flavors (all Ahi Tuna) - shoyu, spicy, and ginger scallion. They also had poke bombs, poke bowls, and combos with teryaki available. I loved all the flavors - the spicy option was pretty mild - but all very delicious and flavorful. The pieces of ahi are much larger than your typical poke spots in the area. And some of the pieces were a bit tough and hard to chew but that was my only complaint. The flights come with quite a bit of rice and a small seaweed salad. Prices are pretty high but the portions are large and fish is good quality - so you get what you pay for imo. All the staff were super friendly and our poke bowls came out quickly. B&C Teryaki has some covered outside seating on picnic tables if you want to stay and eat. This Poké is UNREAL!! but forreal this poke is pretty bomb stuff, they taste like the ones you can get from Hawaii. I've been following them and saw they had a pop up location at the B&C Teriyaki in Monrovia so had to give them a try. Yes they are more on the pricey side for poke. Yes the quality is was better than the poke you would get at a normal poke spot around the area. They have a very limited menu but the fish is top notch. They only serve ahi tuna but you can tell they know what they are doing. I tried the flight and I will say my favorites are garlic crunch - shoyu - spicy in that order. Super simple dish, no extra just rice, furikake, seaweed, and that good poke. For poke lovers this spot is a definite must try! Hopefully they open a permanently location in the future but still love that they go to different neighborhoods to let everyone get some authentic Hawaiian poke. read more

Such FRESH poke! The flavor was authentic and I loved the texture of the poke. It was amazing in hand roll form as well. I was lucky to have them come to OC this weekend. The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are no hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some outdoor seating available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do allow pets in their establishment. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is extremely small. It's pretty much street parking TBH. Just park in the residential area and walk on over. No big deal. Food: I ordered the poke flight which included a Kani crab salad, several scoops of rice, 3 scoops of ahi tuna (3 different flavors - spicy, shoyu, and California roll). Lowkey slightly disappointed because I was looking forward to eating the seaweed wakame salad, which was advertised on hotplate (their online ordering website). So imagine my surprise and disappointment when I received the Kani crab salad. Oh well. They should update their hotplate website if they are serving a different side. Took off one star for disappointing me. Nevertheless, it was a pretty tasty and fresh Kani crab salad. The rice was nice and hot and had some furikake sprinkled on top of it, which brought out more flavors to the hot and steaming rice. The 3 different flavors of the ahi tuna (spicy, shoyu, and California roll) were hella delicious, fresh, and tasty. I am so glad that I got the flight. I got to try all 3 different flavors. Best choice ever. Staff: The staff here are friendly, but they crank out food a bit slowly. Not the end of the world, but slightly annoying when you have a pick up time and they take 25 - 30 more minutes than expected. Then why even have a scheduled pick up time then? That's why I decided to take off one more star. Anyways, I ordered online, and I had chosen my pick up time to be 4:15PM. I had gotten there at like 4:10PM, and I received a text from them like around 4:05PM saying that my order should be ready in 15 minutes. So they needed an extra 15 minutes to get my food ready. Okay. My food should have been ready by 4:30PM. I kept waiting for a text from them saying that my order was ready. By 4:35PM, I finally walk up to the ordering counter to see what the hold up was. After several customers ahead of me received their food, the guy working the counter got to me, and I told him that I was there to pick up my food. It was finally all ready around 4:45PM. So if you come here, beware of waiting an extra 15 - 30 minutes for your food. I was not prepared for that, and I had to text my friends that I was arriving late thanks to them being a bit behind / slow. I spoke with another customer while waiting for my food, and he had been waiting for his food for about 20 minutes or so. So definitely be prepared to wait, peeps. This was my first time here, so I had no idea about the wait time. I also wasn't expecting to have to walk up to the counter to let them know that I was already there since I received a text telling me they needed more time to make my food. I was waiting for another text from them to tell me that my food was ready. Also, when you walk up to the counter, they give you like a pager/ buzzard to let you know when your food is ready. No idea they did that. Please work on updating your HotPlate website accordingly and work on cranking out the food in a timely manner. read more

Heard about Unreal Poke when they started posting on SGV Eats and always missed their pop ups but, I made the drive to Monrovia at BC Teriyaki where they were residing for 2 weeks. There's limited parking but down the road is residential parking. I ordered online to make sure I wasn't missing out on the poke. Most of their items were sold out so I went with the Garlic Crunch Ahi Poke. Poke was fresh and slightly marinated that didn't overpower the fish over a bed of hot sushi rice. I snagged a Braised Beef Brisket Musubi at pick up. The beef was tender and marinated with flavor - the rice absorbed all the sauce. The staff gave me curry sauce to pair with the musubi and I was surprised by the combo - slightly tangy, mild spice and salsa like? Wished there was an option to split different flavors of Poke because I was really indecisive of what to choose. Also, sides of veggies to add on to the Poke. Overall, really great poke in the area reminds me of Jus Poke in the South Bay. Hope they open a permanent location out here in SGV because there's not much authentic hawaiian spots that remind me of Hawaii. This is my third time trying Unreal Poke, and apologizes for the super late delay. Every time l leave, im so full and satisfied l completely forget. First, l had the Poke Bombs, four bombs total, which had two different flavors. These did not disappoint. The seasonings, the pump pieces of fish, and the rice were perfect, (and had a few pieces falling off the bomb, onto the plate luckily). Perfect blending of a garlic seasoning on half the bombs, and the spicy was just the right amount of savory kick that was exactly what l liked. Then my musubi came. But was taken by my daughter, who told me it was the best musubi she ever had. I unfortunately did not get a bite, and I learned my lesson of ordering only one of this item, and will know for next time to add an extra order for myself. Next was the Poke Bowl. I had ordered the Ahi Shoyu flavor, and it was delicious. Rice cooked perfectly and soft, the fish was seasoned excellent and had many fat pieces. Very well proportioned of fish to rice ratio. Leaving each bite with at least a few pieces of fish. Overall, every time l return, reminds me of the reason why l drive far for the food, and keep coming back happily. Also the staff is very nice, l told them my preferred favorite flavors and they recommended me exactly what l wanted. I checked their Instagram and saw that today was their last day, so I decided to make the trip. I've only had poke once before in Taiwan, and it was a joke . My favorite is still Poke Express in Las Vegas, but this place comes pretty close. I just follow a GPS and the address . However, there was no sign outside . There was street parking available, and since it was Sunday, finding a spot wasn't an issue. I hadn't had poke in a very long time . Saw this from a facebook ad I think it was. Decided to order it because Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp plates are not very common in the SGV area. Just ate this almost an hour ago. It was fantastic. The shrimp were big. Six, fat, juicy, freshly fried pieces. The shrimp were fresh and tender, the meat was almost lobster tail-like. It was perfectly salted and flavorful. I ate it with the skin on, and the legs were crunchy and the shell was cooked well. The only part that is a little tougher to eat is the tail. Garlic pieces were crunchy and permeated all of the shrimp. Definitely one of the the best Hawaiian garlic shrimps I've had in the area. 9/10 The poke was great too, I had the spicy and shoyu tuna. It was tender, soft, and tasted fresh on the bed of salad. 8/10 I don't remember having the option of choosing a mac salad, but I feel like the refreshing nature of mac salad would've paired perfectly with the garlic-heavy entree. I also wish that the lemon slice they gave me was bigger. It was a sliver, and I got three drops out of it. The spicy tuna inari I had too was great. I ate this when I got home just now. 8/10 The price definitely felt more on the expensive side, but you are also getting big fat shrimps and fresh poke. After eating it, I can see you're paying for both quantity and quality. And they made it to order right on time. 7.5/10 They are a pop-up once a week at this hamburger restaurant in El Monte. It's not a sit-down restaurant. The owner who runs it Jordan is a super nice guy, I believe he said he is from Hawaii, and he has a strong vision for how he wants his food and business to be. Man, I just cannot say enough about this place. The food is legit unreal. The taste of the fish is unbelievably fresh and flavor is so deeply infused, you'll just drool looking at it. Unlike most other poke places that add sauce after you choose a protein, this place marinades there for at least a few hours so you'll get a really deep burst of flavor in each bite. The food here really reminded me of the super fresh poke you can pick up from the deli counters in Hawaii. We got all four flavors which were shoyu tuna and salmon as well as the spicy tuna and salmon. Each was amazing, but my personal favorite was the shoyu tuna. Note that this a pop-up spot and not something that's open everyday. Usually they operate out of a burger kitchen, but do go to other events as well.
