Came here on a Friday evening, which can be challenging to find parking since it's located in the heart of North Park. The storefront had outdoor seating and were moderately spaced apart. The workers were all wearing masks. The service was fast and friendly! I opted for the Small bowl, which comes with two scoops of poke for about $12. They had a good selection of toppings as well! The poke bowl was absolutely delicious! I highly recommending going with brown rice as the base. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the brown rice was! My two scoops were salmon and tuna. I am bummed I haven't tried this place sooner, as I heard the prices of their bowls went up. I also don't crave poke bowls as often (unless of course, when in Hawaii), because I feel a lot of custom poke bowl spots overdress the bowls with too many toppings. I finally decided to try this spot for takeout lunch a couple weeks ago while in the neighborhood. For about $15 for their regular size, I got two scoops of raw fish protein (salmon and tuna), lots of toppings, and a half/half base of white rice and salad. The "size" differences are really just the amount of protein you get; the bowl sizes pretty much stay the same from regular to large. I was surprised to see scallops and albacore as an option, as I don't think I've seen that at other spots before. Service was very straightforward as the menu is above the counter to walk you through the steps. I thought the quality of fish and toppings were pretty good and the servers were very nice. The best poke I've ever had! Seriously, this place is no joke. It looks and sounds like your average poke bar but it's not. It's better. It has all your favorite toppings and then some. Everything is super fresh and packed with flavor. I'm not a huge Asian food or seafood person, but I would eat Poke One N Half everyday if I could - it's just that good! Located in North Park, where all the hot, up and coming businesses are, Poki offers 3 size bowls with size depending on how many scoops of protein you want in your bowl. The small (which is not small at all) has 2 scoops, regular has 3 and large has 5. I got the spicy tuna (which was more than just medium spice level) and the salmon. Both were extremely fresh, a perfect texture and more than enough to fill me up. You can choose to have your protein and toppings over rice or lettuce. I chose lettuce and I'm so glad I did because there's no way I could have finished even a small with all those toppings over rice. Everything was so fresh, the guac is NOT EXTRA and they give you 2 free sauces of your choice to-go. Don't take the spicy mayo lightly... especially if you get the spicy tuna as your protein because oh my gosh, your nose will be running. The poke bar itself was so clean, the staff were very sweet and attentive, and the variety was more than enough to entertain most all preferences. I prefer authentic Hawaiian poke but I think Poki One N Half is one of the better make your own poke places. They used to give you multiple scoops of imitation crab and avocado but has recently charged for extra scoops which I don't blame them due increased prices. When I was pregnant and craving sushi or poke, I'd come here and get the 2 scoops of fish that I'd have them put in a separate container so I can give to my husband while I was content with the toppings alone. This is the first poke place I've been to that has unlimited free toppings, even the premium ones like avocado and seaweed salad! They have their house Poki sauce at different spice levels, and you can add ponzu or spicy mayo on top of that (double sauce!). All of the ingredients are FRESH! The first day I came here, I only had the non-spicy Poki sauce, which was average. I came back for another meal the second day and added ponzu in addition to the Poki sauce, and it gave my bowl an extra layer of flavor! The staff was very friendly and very prepared. Whenever we asked for a side of something, they had small containers readily available. I went back to ask for spicy mayo, and they had them available in their fridge and gave it to me super quickly. I have came here so many times and it's finally time to write a review to express how amazing the staff and the food is here! My brother and I came in here tonight on a Thursday night and we were welcomed right when we walked in. Gerome was so friendly and welcoming with a smile on his face. I love this place! I can't believe I haven't written a review yet. I'm here about once a month these days. I love to walk over after work with my dog and get a bowl togo. Yum! This might be my go to poke place! You get to choose from a small, regular, large, or poke burrito. Each of the sizes determine how many scoops of fish you get. A small comes with 2 scoops, medium:3, large:5. I got a small because I'm a small eater and I usually get full of the toppings. Next you get to choose your base, add-ons, fish, sauce, and toppings. I love how there are so many toppings to choose from! In advance of their arrival I'd shopped for poke and seaweed salad at a local seafood store. Over dinner they asked me for my favorite San Diego poke bowl location. I was oblivious and replied, "What is a poke bowl?". OMG, they launched into a lengthy overview of the poke bowl craze which apparently is nationwide. They mentioned their favorite poke bowl locations in Park City, Seattle and Portland. I was requested to find top rated San Diego poke bowl location for lunch the following day. And this is when I scampered to Yelp! I noted several Yelp highly rated poke bowl locations around San Diego. I selected Poki One N Half due both to strong positive reviews and nearby North Park location. Arriving for lunch I was surprised to see Poke One N Half with several empty tables. It's a small restaurant space, and with popularity I thought it may be full. And that's when we discovered why. Unfortunately, Poki's credit card reader was not operating. Poki was temporarily operating as cash only. Funny how quickly we've become a cashless society relying upon electronic transactions. We didn't have enough cash and needed to send a family member in search of a cash machine. Aside from inconvenience of card reader not working, Poki One N Half serves terrific poke bowls! OK, first off what is up with the name? Poki One N Half? Is this an inside joke? The product of the world's worst committee? A clever riddle that will never be solved? Someone, anyone, please answer this burning question for me. Baffling name aside, the inexplicably named Poki One N Half serves up some seriously good poke bowls. The fish is fresh, the toppings are plentiful, and the sauces are superb. I really have nothing bad to say, and I can be a drowning waterfall of critical thought at times. Personally, I am partial to the tuna, and usually get four scoops of that, along with one scoop of spicy tuna, just to convince myself that I opted for some variety. Of course, I'll also put virtually every topping and sauce in there as well, so no matter what fish(es) you choose, you will have a bounty of flavors. In fact, the variety of tastes in that singular bowl is really quite astounding. Also nice is that they have a lots of outdoor sidewalk seating that is shared (whether by design or not) with City Tacos, so if your friends are Jonesing for that, you can still eat out together, food court style. One tip: opt for the larger number of scoops. For just a couple of dollars more, you'll will get a lot more fish. All in all, I definitely recommend looking past the odd name and digging into Poki One N Half's seriously good bowls when you're in the mood for a fresh, tasty meal. I went to Poke One N Half regularly. Then I stopped. Why - still convenient, reasonably priced (even after recent increase), pleasant well-trained staff... BUT, they are now using tiny individual plastic packets of tiny slices of inferior ginger (compared to their old ginger)... That change has driven me away. I know I am only one of many who have noticed this and are unhappy. I never even went looking for other Poke alternatives before that change. The ginger was great. Replacing their wonderful ginger with a lower quality, ecologically unsound individual plastic packets is a bad move in a looming recession... Very sad. :-( Please bring back your ginger and gain back a once-loyal customer. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH! All of the employees here are amazing and great at their jobs. I am greeted every time I come in with a "hi welcome in" and a smile! When I go down the line to get my poke bowl fix, they are extremely friendly as well! I always get the large bowl because it's only $13 for 5 scoops of protein!! 5!!! Their rice is always cooked nicely, and then I get EVERYTHING because why not?! When a Poke bowl place doesn't charge you extra for AVOCADO, you KNOW it's real! Parking is hard anywhere around this location. Many times I have circled around to pick up an order because the status wasn't updated while in person it was just sitting in the fridge. My last order (10/14/2024) was a total disappointment because it's been 40 min and the status was still "in progress ". I walk in and there were two people at the counter and no customers. I gave my name and the woman very obviously looked like she forgot about it, but then she said that someone walked in and picked my order from the fridge. Now, to be honest, if I was working there, first, nobody would ever walk to my fridge which is behind the counter and grab the orders w/o my supervision. Secondly, if I knew that someone placed their order 40 min ago and it was accidentally picked up, I'd not be just standing there but would immediately replace it. So I am going to stick to my first version - she looked like I reminded her of my order. I clarified whether people just walked in behind the counter and grabbed my order- she confirmed. I was mad because my car was parked at the wrong place and I had no time to wait. I asked her how long does it take to make a bowl and she got all unhappy and quickly put it together. I timed, it was two minutes and 10 sec. Seriously, either her or another guy could have replaced 10 bowls before I walked in; just an awfully bad customer service. I've been to their other location multiple times, and this one is pretty much the same. I think Poki One N Half has become one of my favorite poke spots in San Diego, especially since it started trickling into this part of town over the past year or two. Their fish is always so fresh! Though during my first visit a few days ago, there was a fly behind the glass; I know it didn't touch anything, but still... They give a generous portion of everything, but I think a little bit more protein could do because I got an overwhelming amount of salad (even in comparison to my brown rice.) The small bowl is actually still quite big, and it comes with two scoops of fish, which is the perfect amount for me. All of the toppings are pretty much free, and you can add on however much you want, so it really fills you up. It's very reasonably priced, as well! There is seating inside (not too many tables--it is smaller than their other location), and more seating outside. read more

I've heard of this place before! Someone told me their portions are more generous than your average poke shop in SD. So why not? I took a drive for my lunch break from Downtown San Diego to North Park which is less than 15min on Pershing! Amazing. Parking is rough, but there are many streets to park your car & the scenery is nice to window shop. This lil spot is right off the main road, you won't miss it! There was a line when I arrived as it was lunch hour. 5 min wait. They have three servers in different sections, divide & conquer! I opted for a regular bowl (3 scoops of fish), half n half (white rice and salad) with everything!! Super delish. I recommend getting everything!! First of all, I have to admit something...I FREAKING HATE SEAFOOD! This was hands down, my best experience ever eating seafood! I went here to celebrate something for my wife. I love poke! Poke is one of those things that I can have a huge bowl of, and not feel like I grossly over ate. I usually get a regular bowl, with half salad and half brown rice as the base. Gotta have some rice to soak up the delicious sauces!!! And salad for healthy eating and gut cleaning ;) Then, I get *ALL* the add-ons and toppings! It makes me happy that there's no extra charge for the avocado :D For my protein, I like salmon, yellowtail, and albacore. Top it all off with a mix of spicy poki and ponzu sauce, and I'm set. The only downside of this location is the lack of parking and space, which is to be expected, because North Park.
