New go-to poke spot unlocked I just stared living part time in Oceanside, and my first (very reasonable) worry was : where will I get sushi and poke now?! I had my go-to locations in LA, but alas, I knew I would have to be courageous and explore the unknown territory of raw fish once again. In a delirium of low blood sugar, I found Poki poki on the way back from the gym. Things to note which secured poki poki be a staple in my foreseeable future: -the portions are huge! They actually gave me a ton of protein for their small/normal size, which is amazing because that's what pokes all about ya know? The raw fish -the sever was SO nice. I am gluten free, and live in fear when it comes to restaurants not knowing what items they have are safe. She took my order, happily double checked everything was gluten free, and was super friendly -the speed!! I ordered on the phone and 2 min later walked in and it was being bagged. This was a lifesaver given the fact I pushed dinner way too late and needed to eat asap Overall: a great solid poke staple

Thank you Poki Poki for totally redeeming yourselves!! i've been here twice this past month :) i just had to give them another shot frm having a not so great experience a few years back. i didn't leave a negative review because in my heart it wasn't the food it was the Wrong Crew *at that time. well anyways i wanna say they have up'ed their game and their customer service is WAY WAY better than before. The poke bowl became a whole to-go Box for the large and not sure if the server just liked me but also super generous the last 2times i ordered. Everyone deserves a second chance. i'm glad i did. i'll be seeing you again soon!- lots of parking but kinda tricky entrances to this location -the Home Goods/Aldi/BevMo / Fed Ex /El Pollo Loco Plaza. ******oops- this review is for the one in Escondido!! lol my bad! :D

I love this location! The staff are always friendly and efficient when we visit. There was a long line on this particular occasion. The restaurant was clean despite heavy foot traffic. As always, my poke bowl was super tasty. The ingredients always seem to be fresh. By the time I add all of my toppings to my fish choices, I am left with a very hefty bowl of food. it's extremely filling and I often have leftovers. That way I get to enjoy two times. I love all the options to customize your bowl to include exactly what you want. This is better than when you go to a restaurant and order poke there. They don't necessarily have options for customization at other restaurants . So this is my definite go- to poke choice! They could add a few more tables to make the restaurant seem a bit more inviting. They have lots of empty floor space.

I had an amazing experience here this afternoon. My boyfriend and I stopped by so I could get some boba today. I got the Brown sugar milk tea with brown sugar boba and it was 10/10 exactly what I was craving!!! They had so many options for milk tea including a variety of boba and adds on. I also love poke but didn't try any today...I will be back though!! Definitely check this place out for boba.

The health department should pay them a visit. Their tables are covered with sticky black goo. They know it and the owner doesn't care. See the pictures. The tables are not properly finished. There was a thin layer of urethane that has worn off in many places and now food is sticking to the tables and I can't get it off. The tables need to be stripped in a proper layer of urethane applied.

Ordered 2 regular bowls for about $35 including tip. The plates were absolutely stacked and pretty affordable considering its poke. I liked how they had seared ahi tuna as a protein option, never really seen that at other poke shops. They had limited sauce and topping options in comparison to other spots, but they had all the essential ones you'd expect. Process was simple and quick. The flavors and quality of fish was okay; I've had better, but it's still really good for the price. I was able to split my bowl into 2 separate meals. The interior of the shop is pretty clean as well. Overall, would come again if I'm looking for a cheap poke spot.

Took my poke bowl to go and got home to find that one of the toppings I chose was rancid. Either the onion or the salmon. It tastes horrendous and made the rest of the bowl so unappealing. Had to throw away the bowl after a few bites. Such a waste. And the kid behind the counter has a really bad attitude. Won't go here again. read more

I love poke. It has to be fresh and flavorful and have lots of textures. This place has it all. Some people said it's portions are small.. are you serious? For $10 you get a huge bowl filled with all kinds of deliciousness. Imagine getting this rolled up in sushi restaurant, it would be like a $19 roll. The octopus is fantastic. I'm a fan! My only problem is trying not to come here every day. read more

Establishment just opened on June 9th. We visited on June 12th. This a "build your own" Hawaiian poke bowl in the manner of Subway sandwiches. Pick your base: Brown Rice, White Rice, Salad, Half/Half Pick your fish: Salmon, Ahi Tuna, Spicy Tuna, Octopus, Shrimp, Yellow Tail. Small - 2 scoops, Regular - 3 scoops, Large - 4 scoops. You can mix and match. Add: Cucumbers and/or Onions. Sauces: Spicy, Mild, Hot, plus different add ons Toppings: Avocado (extra $), imitation crab, green onions, sea weed salad, sesame seeds, wasabi, ginger, masago eggs. This might be the only place in Vista to get a Poke Bowl. The fish and toppings seem fresh. The prices seem appropriate based on the freshness of the ingredients. I found the regular size to be filling. I ordered all three scoops to be salmon, not spicy and I found the salmon to be fresh. It did not taste like it was frozen. By dining companion ordered it Mild and he said it was spicy. Caution to those who are spice sensitive. Beverages are canned drinks only but they have POG! I asked the staff for POG and they didnt know that I was asking for. Passion-Orange-Guava juice which they had. POG! Get with the lingo! Staff was friendly and well trained on the ingredients and the process. Kudos to being ready at only 3 days from opening. read more

Food was great portions were fair and well worth the price. Did have a bit of confusion with the line up cause the screens to express the food choices were in opposite directions of the food displayed. Maybe that me being a Bit OCD but also found it a bit strange employees didn't have any uniform and wore ransoms shirts. This does seem like a very laid back establishment but again food was great very filling. read more

Wow, it was very tasty! I loved that I could order my Poké on top of spring mix salad rather than rice. Spicy tuna, salmon and ahi were my selections along with shaved jalapeño, fried garlic and wasabi. It was $11.99 for a 4 scoop bowl and in my humble opinion, well worth it. Since starting back on the Atkins program, I've wanted some lighter protein selections and this was perfect for me. I was satisfied, but not so stuffed I was miserable. I also asked for it to be as spicy as the server could make it and I was happy with the heat level. I love sushi, but now that I have reduced my carbohydrates this is the perfect alternative for me. I get all the yummy sauces and add ins with a roll but without the rice. 10/10. Will definitely be going back. read more

LEXIE & JESS are the dream team at this location! I went to get some POKI POKI and I've been to this location plenty of times too. But the other night when these two were working it made it for a very awesome experience to say the least. Very friendly and welcoming and both worked alongside each other to make sure my food was exactly how I wanted it done. They even made some suggestions for me to try and see what their take on different sauces on my bowl. Very awesome to have been there when they were working and not trying to rush me through the line like some places do most of the Update! 5/15/20 Lexie at Poki Poki is the best! Even in these trying times she welcomes you as if nothing is happening and is always friendly and courteous. Never once have I asked the same question twice and she answers calmly and explains the menu even if extras scoops are a little more $. She has a way of explaining and making the options easy to pick. Definitely why I like this Poki Poki!!!! read more

Just got kicked out for waring a face shield. Refused to serve me and were rude. Been there at least 25 times with the face shield never a problem until today. To top it off its rush lunch hour and not a single person was in the line. Good bye Poki Poki you can go out of business like so many other restaurants. read more

This is my favorite poki place out of all the locations I've been to. I live in Carlsbad and when my husband and I visit Vista we always want to stop by this Poki place. The employees are always kind and they're very clean. Even when they have long lines they don't minimize the excellent customer experience they provide which I love about this Poki location. read more

Took my daughter here since she never had Poki. My wife and I love getting Poki. I like it because I treat it like a cheat meal for my diet but it's really healthy and fills me up. The staff was very friendly and patient with us as we took out time trying to decide what to put in our bowls. I just wish I had tried the desserts! read more

I tried Poki Poki for the first time yesterday with my mom. Absolutely delicious! We both got a regular bowl with 3 scoops. I got half spring salad as my base and half brown rice. I picked octopus, scallop and ahi tuna. All the toppings More than enough food for two meals! They really pack a lot of delicious food into one bowl. It was fresh, the staff was friendly and answered all our questions because it was our first time dining there. Prices are reasonable. I'm definitely going to be going back! read more

This is a great place to visit if you have a craving for poke. This was me on Saturday morning when I woke up thinking about my last trip to Maui and how amazing all the food I had there was. Reminiscing on this caused me to have a massive craving for poke. Of course, Maui is a tad far for me to go and satisfy this therefore I decided to go to the local poke shop in my neighborhood and pick up a poke bowl. Although it was far from what I had when I was in Hawaii, I will not lie, this poke bowl was delicious. The spicy sauce they use is not spicy (for me) but had a delicious flavor. I ordered a regular bowl with half greens and half rice, a scoop of salmon and two scoops of tuna. They have a variety of toppings you can add such as masago, edamame, wasabi, jalapenos, avocado (+$1), crab (which they offered an option without mayo), onions, cucumbers, corn, ginger (you have to ask for it), seaweed salad, etc. I ended up getting this to go and had an amazing time enjoying it at the park. I also picked up a Hawaiian Sun in Passion-O-Guava which set me in that Aloha state of mind for a few minutes. Give them a try. Service is always wonderful too. read more

Very good alternative to Sushi! Clean restaurant and usually no wait to get served. Generous portions of his quality, fresh fish with tasty sauces. I like to eat healthy and love fish so this has become one of my favorite places to eat before or after a movie. The seared ahi is delicious! read more

As a vegan finding options can be tricky. I was pleased to know this was a half a mile from my house. The tofu is just not good is not cooked or seasoned. I asked them if I can just have avacado instead and they tried to charge me. So basically I got everything else except tofu and guac and it was just bleh. read more

The pokie is good but damn they barely give you anything. When they first opened it was worth the price but now 3 scoops is more like 1 1/2... I got 9 pieces of tiny shrimp. Really doesn't seem worth it to me. They also got rid of the military discount, kind of a bummer. read more

I'm a regular at Poki Poki and I love their bowls. I'm from Oahu so I know what good poke tastes like, and this is some of the best poke I've had in California. Their ahi tuna is my go to, and I like how they have octopus because most poke places in CA don't have that. They give a generous amount of fish and toppings, which makes it worth the price. read more

I've been here a couple times and the quality is always fresh. Compared to other places, you're paying a bit more, but you're also getting a little bit more. For example, a regular bowl at other places is about $8-9 for 2 scoops. Portions are generous so you won't leave hungry read more

I ordered the half-and-half with chicken teriyaki and katsu, and honestly it was one of the better teriyaki plates I've had anywhere around here. The chicken was flavorful, the katsu was crispy without being greasy, and everything tasted fresh. It's a little pricier than some teriyaki spots, but the quality backs it up. My wife and I could easily split one order next time. I came in around 4 PM, so it wasn't packed, but the people inside looked happy, the restaurant was clean, and the whole place just had a really good vibe. Sometimes you can tell within a minute whether a place cares about what they're doing, and this felt like one of those spots. There's a reason they've got 4.7 stars. If anything, I'd say that rating is deserved.

The employee who took my call (Jason) was extremely short, dismissive, and condescending from the start. When I called back shortly after to add to the order, his attitude only got worse. Instead of being helpful, he spoke to me in a way that felt rude and unprofessional, as if I was inconveniencing him by simply trying to place or update an order. At one point, I asked to speak with a manager and was told there was no manager available. Given the tone and lack of courtesy throughout the interaction, we ultimately decided to cancel our entire order. I don't feel comfortable spending money at a business where customers are treated this way right off the bat.

Two orders of the sweet chili glazed (Pine Doni) and one of the other which was like a honey bbq glazed style. All were supposed to have 6 wings, but the honey BBQ one had 5 (?). The sweet chili was our fave of the two. Their chicken empanadas were huge, and served 3 per dish, were delicious and crispy, with an aioli like sauce with a wonderful kick. The spam roll was a masubi-like and was good (husband said it was the best he's ever had). The side of mac salad had great flavor! Jaz brought us some red rice to try on the house and it was really good! It reminded me of Vietnamese chicken rice, with chicken broth infused into the rice, making it really tasty and savory. I appreciated how crunchy the fries were, especially since the amount of sauce on top could have easily made them soggy very quickly. I do wish there was a little more meat but it tasted yummy nonetheless. Our absolute favorite part of the meal was desert. The banana donuts! It came with 4 which was perfectly paired with strawberry ice cream. Overall, super duper happy with another visit to this amazing spot! Hopefully we'll catch them at PIFA San Diego this year

Inexplicably, my kids love beavers, and so when we were staying in Carlsbad for the night and looking for a place to eat, how could we not visit a place called Belching Beaver? We couldn't not! I wasn't going to get a beer, but then I saw that the brewery did a collaboration with the Deftones to create an IPA called Phantom Bride. I had to get a pint. Chino Moreno made me do it! It was citrusy and refreshing, and just the thing to enjoy while sitting on the outdoor picnic tables. Belching Beaver offers your average pub food. My kids got chicken tenders and fries, and mac and cheese with fries. I got a poke bowl, which sounds like a risky choice at a brewery, but it was actually really good and fresh! Not too saucy, either. We also got the carne asada 980 Nachos, which are huge and come on a baking sheet. Plenty enough to share! This place is tucked away in what looks like an office plaza. I'm learning that a lot of breweries in this area are posted up in situations like this. You look like you're driving into a nondescript place to get your contract notarized, but instead, you happen upon a cool restaurant and brewery such as this.

Can't tell you how the food was because they refused to serve me for not wearing a mask, I have a legitimate medical reason (eye issues, that had really been acting up at the time I walked in) for not being able to wear one. The staff asked me if I had a mask, stated no, do you? ( I would have endured the pain for a moment if they had) She replied no sorry we can't serve you. First the place was completely empty (only had tables outside). Second I stood more than 6 feet away from the glass enclosed case and the masked employee. Lastly this is medical discrimination, the staff needs to better trained on this issue. Not that it's anyone business what my medical situation is, they could find a way to be more inclusive. read more

Ordered 3 large bowls. The server was very stingy with the toppings. Had lettuce as the base and he literally put 3 pieces of lettuce. We asked to add more and he put 1 piece of lettuce. The the toppings. Shrimp. He put 2 pieces of shrimp. And so on with the other toppings. This guy needs some training. For what we paid for three bowls that were only half way full. Total embarrassment compared to what we usually get from there. Will not be returning until this guy gets some training or leaves. Too bad poke poke for cheapening up your service. I come here about twice a week and always have great service. This time not so much. To the gentleman wearing the shirt that said Rest Easy, I hope you have a better day. Service was horrible and looked like he just didn't want to be there. All around bad vibe from him.
