"Poké." So here we are. We both got large bowls because we're dumb that way. For $14+ we got enough food to make us feel like dying after. The choices were great because there were so many toppings and sauces. The spicy mayo and the eel sauce are delicious on top of everything. I got salmon 2x, octopus, and spicy tuna. Along with half and half rice and a bunch of toppings. I love it all especially the masago and crunchy tempura bits. The staff is friendly and answers all questions. Great taste and we were served relatively quickly. Bathroom was out of order when we went. Avocado costs extra but other than that the options are great for if you are vegetarian. Service was terrible and food proportions were off. One worker took my drinks order and wasn't welcoming at all. He didn't even smile once or said "thank you", let alone apologize for his mistakes at the end of my experience. He had to get another worker to apologize on his behalf which I thought was CRAZYY. Basically while I was ordering my drinks for me and my family, one of the workers interrupted me regarding the menu and in the end they only put in 3 of the 5 drinks I ordered because I guess the worker that took my order got distracted because of that interruption ? After that, the worker that took my order didn't even bother to read back the order. Ngl, everything would've been prevented if he just read it back. Either that or me being able to get a receipt for the drinks to double check if everything is correct. For the poke he barely gave me any protein and mostly just rice which was weird. I told him a few times that i'm still waiting on 2 drinks for me and my brother, but it didn't click in his head and instead told the new worker to make me 1 drink. I started to get frustrated because I told him 3 times that I'm still waiting for the 2 drinks left which is for ME and MY BROTHER. In the end, I got delayed around an extra hour but it could've easily been prevented if the guy paid full attention to his customers and been more of an attentive listener, along with owning up to his mistakes and not letting his coworker take over instead. I usually don't write reviews ever but this experience made me so frustrated to the point where I had to reach out and ask for the workers to be trained more professionally. I fully understand the workload with customer service but there wasn't even a rush at that time and was pretty empty when I went. Let me start off by saying that I am a local and I love Poki Poki, and I have been going to this location since it opened. I have been going to the movie theatre complex since it was Krikorian. I didn't want to do this and write a negative review, but never have I ever woke up the next day after having bad service and thought about it again. Over time things have gotten worse and worse at this location and now you have probably lost a customer. First off when my wife and I walked in yesterday to get Poki one of the employees who was leaning back on his chair playing video games on his phone in his Misfits band T shirt. He and his coworker were so unhappy to have to get up and serve us. He didn't give any sort of greeting, just an irrated "what do you want?" I was confused about the pricing because their was two advertised prices in front of me. One on the LCD screen and one little note on the glass. He was upset that I asked about it. He said "look at the date" referring to the note on the glass. I'm sorry $20 for a large poki bowl. That is crazy because poki poki is average poki, not great, not bad but average. The price alone wasn't the problem it was the fact that he made me feel stupid because they had a note dated to a month ago with one price and another price on the Screen. It gets worse. As I asked for toppings both of these young men's attitudes made us feel like we shouldn't be asking for toppings.... Was I doing something wrong? Maybe they didn't like the combination I ordered? Maybe they didn't like the amount of toppings. Either way, it made us feel awful. I started taking longer pauses before i spoke because I didn't want to respond with frustration... and I think he could tell I was bothered. Then he got even more short. This was the straw that broke the camels back When he turned to serve my wife he didn't even speak to her.... He just stared at her. NOT OKAY! After they were done serving us the young man in the misfit tshirt went straight back to his video game on the phone. I almost snapped a photo, it was unbelievable. Needless to say we sat outside. Before we left I needed to use the restroom. And when came out the kid in the misfit shirt looks up from his game and says "what's-up" I couldn't believe the expierence. Lastly I would say that the toppings were slapped on there with little care. People eat with there eyes. I remember there was a young woman who used to work there that took pride in her work. This place is clean with a friendly staff. I came here for the outdoor seating because it was lovely out however there wasn't any outdoor seating when I arrived :-( . It's tasty ,but definitely a little pricier then most POKI places, lots of extra charges for certain things so be careful when ordering!!! This is a good place to bring kids as I saw 4 of them behind me with their parents ordering and gobbling it all up- not too many healthy kid friendly choices these days! So not every location takes your phone number for points, and this location is one of them. Other than that pretty good, sometimes the recipe for imitation crab is different too, they'll add sesame seeds sometimes, which I don't mind but my nephews don't like it that way. I'm a regular at this poke spot .The employee that always wears graphic tees and glasses puts an effort to his costumer service and it's very appreciated . I've never seen this girl with short hair before but she could put more effort in her customer service , you're getting payed for doing something pretty simple .I know it's easy to get an attitude with such a boring job but people have feelings as well .if the manager is going to be keeping these same employees around at least don't have sucky ones . Aside from the Poke bowl wave that we are currently in the middle of, I'm glad that there has been heavy competition in this area of edible goodness. Properly ordered, Poke bowls are a relatively healthy choice for eating out as well as filling and delicious. This location of Poki Poki is located right across the street from the Cinepolis theater in Vista and though there are plenty of other eating options, it's great to have it here. You can't get more convenient for picking up a pre or post movie meal that doesn't commit you to a waiter, a hostess and the time required of a sit down restaurant. Ordering here is no different that other Poke bowl places so I won't bore you with specifics there. The food here is good. I love the Poki Poki chain because I feel like you get a ton of food for the money and they are everywhere which makes them reliable AF. The low score however is for the jerk of the employee I just encountered around 8pm. She was cold, standoffish and incredibly rude. Honestly, this place is super expensive. I asked for eel sauce and spicy mayo and didn't receive it. I wouldn't come back again, honestly. I ordered pick up so I didn't know the sauce was missing until I got home. Walked away with a regular bowl and large bowl for 30$, that's way too overpriced. The fish taste was decent but not quality like the price conveys. From now on I'll make the extra drive and go to sunshine poke in Oceanside you get four scoops for 10$ with avocado. This is the last time i come to this location, there are so many things that are lacking. Earlier last week: In the middle of running several errands we wanted a quick bite of poké. Ordering should have been a simple process. First we tried calling to ask what time you closed, maybe we could squeeze time in for dine-in instead of takeout but there was no answer. Fine, probably busy, lets make a run somewhere else before trying again. Ubereats allows up delivery AND pick-up but we couldnt find pokipoki on there so we googled and luckily the hours came up! poki was open for dine-in time but we'd be cutting it close so we decided on takeout. ubereats hadnt worked earlier so we try calling again, and again, and again and they finally answer but we can't order over the phone and its best if we walk-in and and order since theyd be closing soon. Soon? Really. ....Why do u advertise different operating hours? They do not match. There is not very good coordination btwn the online app, yelp or google, etc. It became and irritating and time consuming task to get takeout. Now in to this afternoon. Today it was just me dining-in. Walking in, i dont know if they were slacking off or it had just finished a large order and hadn't caught up, their serving area was a mess. I mean its not so much cross contamination because its mostly veggies and everything is cold, plus its bound to happen a little.... But it was a mess. I saw one guy filling up some containers but i didn't see an effort to clear the area just dumping. The food. And this guy is always so unenthusiastic. Luckily someone else served me and they were polite, they seem to have their head in the game. I go to sit down and the tables are a sticky mess, there crumbs all over them. later on, i saw the same guy cleaning off some surfaces, gunk flying everywhere but i didn't see an attempt to sweep the floor underneath which explains the floors overall... food was good though stingy on shrimp. I wanted to take the rest of my bowl home and my extra hawaiian can so i ask for a bag. Im given a tiny bag. I ask for another one since i might as well grab utensils and put some stuff im carrying in there too but they literally only have tiny bags. Seriously. im done. Tiny bags, out of soysauce for the longest time, out of teas, out of ingredients in general on and off. Stingy. some of these things are easily solved with a stop at at the store, dont you have an overseer that can make supplyruns?
