My review is based off of the roasted/rotisserie style chicken offered at this location. I've visited this place approximately 5 times and can't seem to choose anything else. This chicken is so flavorful and inexpensive. A chicken plate comes with 2 sides; i get white rice and sweet fried plantains. The Mexican rice is good too. I have yet to have an unpleasant visit, other than the door closing slowly when it was cold. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who loves flavorful roasted chicken with a side of rice. read more

I like this location because it is bigger than the Rice Military restaurant. The parking situation is terrible. I can imagine people not dining here because they can't find parking. It is that bad. I like how they give you a piece of avocado with your Mexican rice when you order their Lomo Saltado. I recently had their Aguadito (Chicken Soup) and it was great. I almost tilted the bowl and licked it. I added 3 spoons of their Aji sauce to the Aguadito and it was just perfect. The bathrooms are very clean and the service is outstanding. Yummy place! After my visit to Peru, I was craving some pollo a la brasa (Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken) so I chose to visit Pollo Bravo. We ordered the Gordo's Special (I think is what it was called) and it came with a whole chicken, large salad, rice and beans, and salchipapas. All the sides were GREAT! The salchipapas was such a nice touch and the green sauce was even better. We also really enjoyed the avocado salad because it was fresh and a great addition to the meal. The chicken could've had more pollo a la brasa flavor, which is the only reason I docked a star. The flavor wasn't as strong as it should be to be true pollo a la brasa. Now, the chicken was good it just wasn't what it needed to be to do pollo a la brasa Justice. You won't be disappointed if you order it though, it's juicy and well cooked! Give this place a shot, you wont regret it. This is not your typical Latin American food place. Its a Peruvian food spot that apparently has some very typical food from our friends in the southern hemisphere. We started with some awesome chicken tacos covered with a green salsa, creamed, and shredded cheese. Some of the best in this city. We shared an order that came with a whole smoked chicken, beans and rice, French fries with hot dog slices (its awesome), and fried plantains. Which fed 3 guys and we had some left overs. All for 28 bucks. This chicken was awesome. I think its a smoked chicken with some great spices. The hot dog and fries were tasty, not a huge fan of fried plantains, but these were pretty good. Rice and beans... never fail. The most important part of this equation is the salsa they bring on the side. Its a green salsa that's full of flavor and spicy. so we usually go to the cajun house which is always 5 star. So we tried a different place. which was Pollo Bravo even advertising on the front door said that they close at 10 and on yelp at 10pm we walked in and they said that they were closed mind you it was 9:02. Came here by accident and was pleasantly surprise. I just wanted a quick lunch after getting some bank errand done. This happened to be the only restaurant in the same plaza so it was an obvious choice and turned out to be an excellent decision! Chicken was super juicy, tender and tasty. The green sauce was spicy but godsend, so perfect with the chicken! The fried plantains were the best I've ever had!! They were sweet, tasted fresh and wasn't soggy or greasy. I have never had Peruvian food this good in CA and I'll definitely come again. They do get busy during lunch and service could be a slow, but the quality of food totally made up for it. read more

El Pollo es muy sabroso!! They live up to their motto. Of all the rotisserie chicken places i have been to in houston this one is the best.. The chicken tastes like it is marinated, the white meat which i usually get when i go alone is very very flavorful which is hard to do. The restaurarant is pretty small and usually have no problem finding a table when i go. Lunch can be busy but its understood for me that i will be the only person in the whole place who doesnt speak spanish as my primary language. On to the food. I usually get the Salad which is great. Very fresh carrots, lettuce, red cabbage, red onions and Avocados YUM ! even the house dressing is good. then follow up with either the maduros which are soft ripe plantains or tostones are green fried plantains. The chicken comes with a spicy green sauce if you need a little kick but be careful this stuff is fire. Overall a great quick bite for the easy budget. A good find. read more

I made an order for pick up since my office is so close and I love their place in Katy. When I got there, the bill was higher. I asked why and the waitress stated due to the side of salchipapa is an extra charge of 1.50. I then looked at menu and it doesn't state it anywhere, I asked for a manager. Manager was sitting down, he then proceeded to tell me that it doesn't say it but that's what it is. So I stated this is false advertisement, salchipapa is on the menu sides part but there's an extra charge?!! Manager stated if you go to Mc Donald's there's charges for substitutions...I replied I didn't substitute anything. So unprofessional, needless to say I didn't get the order and will never again go to this location. read more

The place is very delish. The chicken has alot of flavor and isn't dry and the green sauce is to die for. The only downside is the waitstaff. I've only been here during lunch hour and the waitstaff isn't that great. A good mix of Peruvian and Mexican food, of course the specialty is the chicken but they also have other tasty dishes such as ceviche, lomo saltado and my personal favorite the chilaquiles. The food here it's so good, I tried the whole chicken family combo since this has a sweet plantains, salad, fries, rice and beans. I enjoy every one of them.....I could rate this place with a five starts but the air condition was set too cold and I mention that to our waitress and she said that they will set it up at temperature....after a while other customers around me started saying the same about the temperature. This place is a hidden gem. I get the 1/2 chicken with fried plantains and rice. The sweet plantains are also very good. The best part about their food is the green sauce. So flavorful! The chicken was average, lacks deep flavor and the crispy skin, clearly not worth the drive, but, the service was very good. The french fries are budget brand, taste frozen, skip them. The plantains are sweet as advertised.The avocado salad had ripe avocados, just 3 slim slices, nothing like the photo in the menu that looks like it has a large avocado sliced into about 8-10 slices. The salchipapa reminds me of once again, frozen crinkle fries from the dollar store with vienna sausage slices, YUCK. In conclusion there are much better chix places available. read more

Man am I glad I found this place on Yelp! I must say that Pollo Bravo hits a home run in price, food, quantity and service. I generally don't like white meat (don't judge me) because it's not as flavorful or sometimes I feel it's too dry, but the chicken here is the bomb! Game day dinner for 1: quarter dark meat chicken + salchipapa as the sides (you have to add some money to substitute the 2 sides with that) with the green salsa. Nothing to rave on the chicken since there are plenty places in town to get the same kind of rotisserie chicken, although the spices on the skin is a bit different in this place. However, salchipapa is why I'd come here - crinkle cut fries and fried sausage - dip the fries in the green salsa and mayo and you're set. 1 out of the very few Peruvian restaurant in Houston. I visited this unassuming little place upon a strong recommendation from my wife who dined here with a fellow foodie who had raved about it. In a word, stupendous. As prior travelers to Peru, we carry fondness for the country and Pollo Bravo is a nice reminder of one of our favorite trips. When we were in Peru, I don't recall ever having this ridiculously tasty chicken- if I had it, I might've refused to come home. The place was pretty empty when we arrived and we were the only non-native Spanish speakers in the joint. I always find it very comforting when an ethnic restaurant is frequented by former natives/transplants. We started off with the cursory beverages, including a Cristal beer. On to the food....oh heavenly. My wife ordered the crispy tacos stuffed with roasted chicken and salad. I ordered the half chicken with yucca fries and beans. Our daughter had the rice/beans. Also, an order of maduros that my wife inhaled. Oh, the chicken- I may have to rename it "the crack chicken." Yes, it's that good. I think they must brine it first, then rub it down with the 25+ spice mix before roasting it to delectable perfection. Talk about tender. And juicy. And flavorful, through and through. I seriously think this chicken could win bbq awards if it was done on a pit outdoors. The beans/rice were top notch and the yucca fries were average- a bit too starchy and fibrous. And did I mention my wife inhaled the maduros? I think I had two pieces before the inhalation. And the prices are reasonable- extra bonus. My half chicken combo was $9, and i think the tacos were a little more. Money well spent! I'm worried this place will become too popular- if so, they may need to open more locations. Perhaps one next to my house? Food truck? Forgot to mention the spicy GREEN SAUCE- I wanted to bathe in it. It's the perfect companion to the chicken. And probably everything else too. read more
