I went here for the first time during lunch based on all the pictures and reviews. I have to say I was not disappointed. I ordered the chicken soup from the appetizers menu, and it was good. Not the best chicken soup I've had, but still delicious. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with Avacado salad, and spicy fries. That chicken was one of the best chickens I've had. The meat practically fell off of the bone. The skin was cooked with flavor, and a little charred but I love it like that. They give this one dipping sauce, and that had a kick to it. Pollo bravo means brave chicken. And the chicken was brave here folks. I was in search for wifi and that starbucks was packed as usual. So I roamed around and ran into this hidden restaurant. Glad I did! They had some delicious chicken and good staff. They even let me use their wifi before ordering anything. Will go back, eventually. read more

I visited this unassuming little place upon a strong recommendation from my wife who dined here with a fellow foodie who had raved about it. In a word, stupendous. As prior travelers to Peru, we carry fondness for the country and Pollo Bravo is a nice reminder of one of our favorite trips. When we were in Peru, I don't recall ever having this ridiculously tasty chicken- if I had it, I might've refused to come home. The place was pretty empty when we arrived and we were the only non-native Spanish speakers in the joint. I always find it very comforting when an ethnic restaurant is frequented by former natives/transplants. We started off with the cursory beverages, including a Cristal beer. On to the food....oh heavenly. My wife ordered the crispy tacos stuffed with roasted chicken and salad. I ordered the half chicken with yucca fries and beans. Our daughter had the rice/beans. Also, an order of maduros that my wife inhaled. Oh, the chicken- I may have to rename it "the crack chicken." Yes, it's that good. I think they must brine it first, then rub it down with the 25+ spice mix before roasting it to delectable perfection. Talk about tender. And juicy. And flavorful, through and through. I seriously think this chicken could win bbq awards if it was done on a pit outdoors. The beans/rice were top notch and the yucca fries were average- a bit too starchy and fibrous. And did I mention my wife inhaled the maduros? I think I had two pieces before the inhalation. And the prices are reasonable- extra bonus. My half chicken combo was $9, and i think the tacos were a little more. Money well spent! I'm worried this place will become too popular- if so, they may need to open more locations. Perhaps one next to my house? Food truck? Forgot to mention the spicy GREEN SAUCE- I wanted to bathe in it. It's the perfect companion to the chicken. And probably everything else too. read more

I loved the rotisserie chicken. It was super tender with not a speck that was dried out. I went for the 1/4 chicken and ended up with dark meat - I was happy - then again, I'd be happy either way. The salad was a nice simple selection of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, and avocados with a tasty dressing (can't remember the spices well right now, but I do remember enjoying it). The best Lomo Saltado and Ceviche I have eaten outside of my mother's house. The Pollo a la brasa is delicious but the sides need a little work. The only thing I did not like was the Salchipapa. Today my dining experience was phenomenal, chicken with plantains and spicy fries. The service couldn't have been better and my food was excellent. I rarely write reviews because my job entails that I service restaurants and I see a lot of unfavorable things. However it says a lot for me to eat at the place I service. This has got to be one of my favorite spots hands down!! Usually only get two different things on the menu, maybe I have to expand, but they are well worth it making it very hard to try anything else. First one, Gordos Combo about $30 bucks, very good if you are trying to feed 4-5 ppl. Comes with a whole roasted chicken, salchipapas (mix of french fries and sautéed sausage), salad, beans, fried plantains and your choice or regular or mexican rice(We always go Mexican). And of course who can forget that deliciously spicy green sauce!!! I can never do with the four they give you, so I always ask for two more. The other thing I get off the menus is similar only difference being smaller portion. Its the 1/4 chicken, with two sides (choose from above). Either way, chicken is very flavorful and moist not dry. Salad has a great taste along with the dressing. Fries and sausage are a great combo. Fried plantains taste good, specially with the sauce( sweet spicy mix), and rice and beans are always satisfying. To be honest, if it were not for my new coworkers taking me to this place on my first day at the new job, I would have never went. Its located in an obscure strip center on Hillcroft near hwy 59...nothing special about the place, but the food speaks for itself. The meat is very tender and super flavorful. Prices range from $3-$10 bucks for an enormous amount of food. I will surely visit this place often. read more

This place stays too damn busy to have 1 person waiting on every table. It's really annoying. We have came here a lot, it's the same every time. You have to flag them down if you need anything, because they are handling too many tables. Food is great though, no doubt. But both servers need to be working the front of house. We would come here more often if we knew the service wasn't going to be terrible. (Doubt that changes though since people come regardless.) Also, fix the ac. It's absolutely miserable to sit here waiting for service and it's 80+ degrees in the place. Better off to eat in the restroom. Lots of airflow in there. But nothing in the dining area. Add fans or something. We miss the memorial location. Everyone there was OVER attentive. It was so much better than this one. And fix the long point hours. Great place! This location has great food and a fun atmosphere. I enjoyed the music they play and their chicken along with the sides they serve are delicious. Chicken was very moist, not very flavorful. The skin wasn't crispy, and was a little too salty. The fried cassava (yucca) was salted (in a good way) and was super crispy on the outside, not very creamy on the inside. The spicy fries were soggy, but the seasoning on them was spicy and flavorful. The bravo sauce is creamy, not like the usual green sauce served at other chicken places, but it was good. They give you 1 container of sauce. Extra sauce is $0.45 per container which might not seem like a lot, but that container is tiiiiny. The cashier didn't speak english very well, a waitress had to help her take my order, so that and the blandness of the chicken knocked off a couple stars. Would I come back? Maybe, but not anytime soon and I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

15 minutes sitting down without service. Finally get service and they don't even bring us water. The food was nothing to talk about and not worth the price. We ordered "tacos de asajo" for $16; it was supposed to be medium rare beef filet tacos...what we really got was over cooked tiny pieces of beef that was not tender at all; i had to spit a piece out bcs it was inedible. The pozole verde was not bad but, it was not spectacular either. We also ordered the "huevos divorciados"...two eggs one in green salsa one in red salsa with some refried beans; i can make that at home better. This is usually a 5 of 5. I've been living in Katy for 7 years and a loyal customer to this spot for at least 4 years. It saddens me that it takes so long to create a reputation and all it takes is one unfit waitress with a terrible attitude to run off customers. I intend to be neutral with this comment, but if they keep that new waitress in their staff, they're likely to have more dissatisfied customers like myself, as well as Chickens in your Rotisserie because of her. I was a huge fan of Pollo Bravo until last night. When my family and co workers stop in for dinner. We called ahead to let them know we had a party of 9 some first timers and regulars. We sit down and order and then they tell us they are one chicken short and out of chicken !! So two people split a plate and the rest get chicken combos . All orders were mixed up and the waitress did not know who's food was who's and refills came eventually. Finally the check came and was charged for 9 plates not 8 and saw other people getting chicken to eat after they said there was no more chicken left. Sorry Pollo Bravo Im no longer a fan. read more

Love this place! Their chicken is always flavorful, moist and piping hot when it arrives. My husband has had the Lomo Saltido. I had no clue what that was, but the picture looked enticing. It's sirloin beef strips with tomato, onion and fries, all sauteed in some sort of sauce. I tried it and it was very tasty and filling. The menu has an offering for any taste -- beef, shrimp, and chicken; soups, quesadillas, taquitos and ceviche. And more. We were very impressed with the selection of side dishes. Most similar places will offer basic staples such as black beans, white rice and plantains. Here, they have all those, of course, but also offer several others, including spicy fries, which were a little too salty, but still a pleasant and refreshing surprise for this type of restaurant. They have beer and wine, but I've only had the Inka cola. I love it! It's served in a regular 12-oz. soda can and it's yellowish gold. It tastes so good...not too sweet, but not overwhelming. Hits the spot. There are also several items on the dessert menu, but I've yet to try any of them. There may be (ahem) newer, shinier similar restaurants, but Pollo Bravo can't be beat for quality and taste. read more
