I immediately like that this restaurant is clean when I walked in. I ordered the Campero box that they had, but I feel like it should've had something additional for the $12 price tag on it. It didn't really seem like much of a deal in comparison to all of the other fast food options that are coming out with meal deals these days. The chicken tasted fresh, although you know that it is fried chicken; it does not feel greasy at all like some other chicken spots. It also taste better seasoned than other places I've been. The sandwich is incredibly simple, no sauce or anything, just fried chicken and a couple of pickles. In my opinion, I would add some kind of sauce to at least give it a little "something". The staff was incredibly friendly. I liked that when I walked in, I noticed immediately that the food was served on real dishware. I think that's a nice little touch for a fast food place. The total price is $40 (+tax and tip), which includes a promotional family set ($30)of 16 pieces of fried chicken (only dark meat), 2 sides (we had plantain and corn salad) and an extra order dessert Caramel Flan. The food was decent especially the fried chicken with thin crispy layer and corn salad. The fried chicken was braised before fried so it was flavorful and juicy. The corn salad is made with cheese, pumpkin seeds and pepper, which was my favorite. It's really delicious and special. Food is good and flavorful. Ambience was a typical fast food chain. The service is trash, had to wait over 40 min because they gave my food to someone else. Then after I had to settle and accept a mix of fried and grilled chicken because the next batch of chicken was gonna be another 20 minute wait. Went there and ordered a meal and one of the sides was Mac and cheese. manager told me it would take 15 minutes to make the Mac and cheese . I said it's ok . If it were exclusive to Latin hoods, we could probably stand to have a few more. But considering how (fast food) chains are in NYC, my faith in this actually happening isn't very high. My first time here, I couldn't help but liken it as a Latin version of Jollibee. Similarly to that Woodside location (http://www.yelp.com/biz/jollibee-woodside), it's busy, spacious, and undoubtedly fast food-riffic. I wish I could say the place was spotless, but the grimy surfaces and ghastly bathrooms would suggest otherwise. The campero fried chicken [aka pollo tradicional] is sort of like KFC's original recipe. Then of course, there is the extra crispy option and the grilled option, both of which are hot and spicy. I dig the crispy skins and juiciness of the meat for the crispy versions, but any of the grilled chickens have been more dry than not. Expect to cough up $6 or so for any of the combos - the breast / wing or legs / thighs seem to be the most common, yet a lot of patrons here tend to go with some sort of crazy family pack ($30+)] Come for the chicken, skip the sad sides. Fast food sides are already bad enough, but PC's "Latin sides" are all low grade versions of moros, yuca fries, and platanos. Their maduro (sweet plaintain) is almost candied bacon sweet and I'd recommend avoiding their cole slaw or caesar salad altogether. The same goes for their lowly desserts (avoid the tres leches and flan!), but this is no surprise. There's not much to report on the service front. Zombie employees tend to roam the counter and slow maintenance staff leads to lots of unattended tables (people, just clean up your own mess) and might be the major reason why the bathroom is the way that it is. This is my second time since I work nearby. It's very clean, the staff can use an attitude adjustment but the food is good. I didn't see much variety in food. It's fried chicken or roasted chicken with boring sides (I'm glad the sides are tasty). They offer a tortilla with your meal. Why. Idk.They have salads too but it's really expensive given that they give you a couple of leaves and few slices of roasted chicken. Juices are very diluted . I'd say the brewed ice tea is tastier. She basically verified information that was already online for tracking the delivery. Similar to prior yelp review, we were also not given the driver's contact number. The delivery tracking was also stuck at a loop where it was supposedly out for delivery or picked up. We never received the delivery. Extremely sketchy as it already accepted payment online. This was my first visit to a Pollo Campero. It was a Tuesday at 1:30pm before attending a Mets game at Citifield. I got a little nervous that I would have to speak rudimentary Spanish based on what I heard for the first few minutes but luckily the guy at the counter spoke English too. He gave me a number which I placed on my selected table for them to identify me when they bring out the food, on real plates no less. Fast food ambiance with a front door that's always open in the winter. The upstairs was closed, so it's hard to get away from the cold. That said, the food was really good, especially the chicken rice bowl. We had empanadas and sweet platantos, also really good, though slightly on the bland side. I'm in love with this place. It's the perfect craving satisfaction. Both the grilled and fried chicken are good and the fries are awesome. Not too greasy yet delicious. I came around 12pm on a Friday, and I found the place with a few people, which was good. Service was prompt and quick, which surprised me! The food was pretty good, although the baked chicken had a strange smoky taste to it, it was not bad. I, out of courtesy, wanted to let a maintenance staff member know that the soap dispenser was dripping soap in the men's room, but she gave me a stank look as if what I had to say bothered her.
