El Pollo Regio McKinney is the worst!! I placed an order for flour tortillas, I received corn tortillas, I asked for pico de gallo salsa, I got green salsa, I asked for refried beans, it had charro beans in it. I wanted refried beans as the menu states, got beans and rice.. and there's more but why go on? This particular location needs employees who care, who want good business. I would give zero stars if I could. The first time I went the chicken was not properly grilled and still had feathers on it. I decided to give them a second chance today. Big mistake, I get there and no greeting. The woman behind the counter just looks at me. I assume she's ready for my order and I say a number 16. I only give 1 star because that's the lowest I can chose from. What we got for just under $40 was a whole chicken with beans and rice with 2 gross drinks to go. The bag had beans spilled in it. A dried out chicken and an onion. There was only myself and one other table in the building so I know they weren't rushing, however the way our food was dumped into the bag you'd have thought they were trying to get out of town quick. The fountain drinks were all gross. The eating area needed to be cleaned so that makes me wonder how clean the food prep area was. Needless to say we will not go back and that's $40 I will never see again. read more

Two stars but the food is 4 stars. Short and quick: For carry out orders they throw your food in the bag. Several times we've come home to our food leaking all inside of the bag. Tonight we ordered 3 chickens. They didn't bother to secure the rice cover so 1 rice order lost. In addition, no sauce. NO SAUCE! My husband drove back for the sauce. I live in McKinney and highly recommend this restaurant. In my opinion the food is excellent, the staff is well trained especially Joana G., and manager Angel A. are on point. The inside of the building is very clean as are the restrooms. So if your in McKinney, stop by and get some food here or order online with Uber Eats! read more

I went at 930pm so I guess I got what I deserve so I ordered the steak quesadilla.. it was very tasty kind of skimped out on the steak but overall great with sauces on the side.. no napkins but my server was good no complaints on that end. Sometimes, simplicity is best!! These guys have a great roasted and smoked chicken, it's always fresh. They serve it with onion that must be cooked along with the chicken - super yummy. We LOVE the beans, they are cooked to perfection. And in a world where rice can be so bland, theirs is actually spiced well. Tortillas are always perfect. Drive thru is handy, but go inside to order and get all sorts of salsas and condiments at the salsa bar, one of the best parts of Pollo Regio. This is one of my favorite places to pick up dinner when I am just too tired to cook. I always get the whole chicken dinner to go. For $15 you get a whole rotisserie chicken cut into 6 pieces, Spanish rice, charro beans, tortillas, a whole grilled onion, red salsa and a creamy green salsa. The chicken is seasoned with bold spices that you taste throughout the whole chicken, not just the skin. The rice is tasty and the charro beans taste like they are homemade. My favorite salsa is the creamy green one that looks innocent but can pack quite a punch. They do offer other food options, but it would be like ordering a burger at a seafood restaurant. Although, if you're thirsty, I recommend grabbing an aqua frescas (fruit or rice infused drinks, similar to lemonade but with a greater variety of fruit). I don't feel guilty eating here because nothing is fried and it tastes like a home cooked meal rather than something reheated and highly processed. I only know about this place because my husband is Mexican, but I think the gringos would really enjoy it if they give it a try. read more

We've been looking for a El Pollo Locco since moving away from SoCali. Not sure why no one mentions this place. It's quite close to E.P.L. Grilled juicy chicken with a salsa bar, flavorless beans and rice, free fried flour chips. Chicken comes in paper wrapper like a Whopper with a roasted onion inside YUM! What a yummy surprise. I enjoyed it very much. Glad I looked at the menu online tho for the 2 whole chicken deal. It was covered up by something else on the wall.
