I often go here for lunch and I really love this place. It's "fast food" but with a sit down atmosphere. I usually order the tropichop or chicken quesadilla wrap and I have never been disappointed. The prices are very affordable and they also have a sauce bar which is awesome is my book. (I love my food covered in sauce). The service is great. They bring the food out to you and everyone is very friendly. It's been a rare that I have had to wait very long for my food. Once complaint I have is that they changed from curly fries to waffle fries, but that's truly a first world problem. read more

I am so glad we decided to go to Pollo Tropical for a late dinner tonight. We were torn with a few places and decided to go there as we have always liked their food. Everything we have tried has been tasty and relatively inexpensive. (We also had a coupon!) Tonight was the usual Guava Pork Sandwich with yellow rice and black beans for hubby. I tried the Mojo Pork Tropichop with everything just about you could add! Oh, and yummy plaintains to go along with dinner. Needless to say, they did not disappoint. Very consistent!! In addition to having great food, the service at this location is amazing. They have one employee who has been there just about every time we have eaten there. Joshua is super friendly, He makes sure that your food is brought out quickly and you have everything needed to make dinner a plaeasant experience. I went to this location on Hillsborough last week and will NEVER return. I witnessed two workers inappropriately handling raw meat and no hand washing. I went through the drive-thru and you can see a serving station from the window. I'd ordered a tropichop bowl. The worker had raw meat in one hand that she sat down. Never changed her gloves and proceeded to make my bowl. Now, she never touched my food- she used the servings spoons. But if someone else comes behind her and touches those same spoons- everything can easily become contaminated from the raw meat. Secondly, I saw a man come from the back carrying two rows of meat with his bare hands. Never saw him wash them. Totally disgusting. To add insult to injury, the service was poor. When I got to the window, I asked the cashier to have the onions on the side. He never told the lady that fixed my food, even though I told him well before she started fixing it. When I asked about it, he just looked at me and shrugged. I also ordered a key lime pie that I had to go back in and get. Left it out of my bag. Never asked about any sauces and put no utensils in my bag. Just all around uncleanliness and poor service. I couldn't bring myself to eat that food. It looked and smelled great, but I saw the behind the scenes and it wasn't pretty. If management doesn't do better training and oversight on sanitation, handling raw meat, and hand washing/ glove-changing protocol, customers are going to become sick. Went to the Hillsborough Store for a Spanish dinner last Tuesday 9/09/14. The food was very delicious. It was just up the street from our hotel. Had the soup, and we brought avocado, which we added to it. Had the Chicken and ribs, with yellow vegetable rice, Delicioso!!. The wait was short. We sat down and they brought it to the table immediately, and we were very hungry. I have nothing but good comments for them, compared to where we came from. Keep up the good work.!! Churrazco!!!!! All I can say is LMFAO! I must say I was duped! I can't believe I went to a chicken place and when I saw Churrazco on the menu I was almost impressed! I ordered my wife her normal chicken and rice then I ordered my churrazco platter. This thing was a joke! First of all for $9.00 the portion size looks fit for a toddler! Second, the meat! Wow! I may not be a butcher but one thing I know is a good piece of Churrazco and that my friend was no Churrazco! It looked like a pice of roast beef. It had a glimmer similar to that of a piece of roast beef. Sadly, today's order was a complete disgrace. The best part of everything I got tonight was the cup of water. I would attach pictures to my review but I was so pissed off at my ruined dinner that I threw it in the garbage. I was not going to dig it out for a pic! I came here pretty late at night (11pm) with fairly low expectations, however, I left pretty pleasantly surprised. The service was good, and despite being the end of the night, the food was pretty fresh tasting. I went with the Mojo Pork Plate with two sides (yellow rice/black beans and a corn cake). The pork was great - lots of flavor, and very juicy. It really comes alive with some of their sauces, whether it be one of their BBQ sauces or one of the hotter options. The beans were decent enough, but the rice was bland - might as well have just been regular white rice. The corn cake was also pretty good (very similar to a sweetened moist corn bread). A couple of years ago I went on a low carb high protein diet and lost a lot of weight, ironically enough Pollo was a cornerstone of this effort as a typical meal would be chicken (ohhh sssooo savory chicken) and a little bit of black beans. The manager tried to "fix it"/appease me but maybe some focus should go into PREVENTION. It is Imperative that the employees at the front of your business are on point.
