This morning I discovered that a screw had fallen out of my eyeglasses. After some Googling, I called Polsinelli Optometry (I'm not currently a client) to ask if they might help. The person I spoke with said that it was no problem, and that I could come in at any time. An hour later my glasses were fixed! This was no small feat, as these particular glasses have spring hinges, and ultimately required Dr. Polsinelli himself to complete the repair. They didn't charge me a cent for this! Everyone in the office, including Dr. Polsinelli, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I'm beyond grateful! read more

I've been going to Dr. Polsinelli for eye exams, glasses and contacts for many years now and I'm always totally pleased with the outstanding care that I receive at his office. Dr. Polsinelli is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional and he's one of those excellent rare and caring doctors who takes the time to answer any and all questions in ways that people can understand. I feel like he genuinely cares about my eye health and vision. I call him the Optometry Ninja because I have so many issues with my vision and Dr. P. is always is able to help. I just got a great new pair of reading glasses there that are making my life way better. They are super cute and were very reasonable with my insurance. His staff is great too. I had a super disappointing experience here. I have a fairly thick prescription. I stopped in once and nobody bothered to help me. I wandered around for a while and got zero attention, even after I said "excuse me." The only reason I went back is because I liked one of the frames I saw. I stopped in 2 times after that to try them on. Oanh assisted me. Unfortunately, the advice she gave me sucked. I asked her *specifically* if the frame would work with my prescription and she said yes. This was wrong. I picked up my glasses, and they're totally coke-bottle. I wore them for a few weeks but honestly was pretty embarrassed. I brought in my old glasses to show her what could be done with my prescription. She said "well, these were very well made, and you selected a good frame." Right. So why did she tell me that the ones I liked at her store were good, when they were clearly not? She acknowledged that they didn't look good, and she had the lenses remade. It took weeks. I went back in and picked them up, and now they have a super bright shine around the edges and are totally dorky. I spent $1000 and I never wear them. Dr. Polsinelli sent me an email and called me the wrong name and said no refunds, no exceptions. It was a crappy experience, and a total waste of money. Avoid at all costs. There is a nice optician down the street, and another on Fillmore. I'm sorry I tried this place. read more

Dr. Polsinelli is running a fantastic business. I have never in my life had a more thorough eye exam, and the best part is that he explained everything that he was doing and why. He has the latest "eye technology" and really cares about his work and patients. I have never "yelped" before but have to sing Dr. Polsinelli's praises so that others may benefit! I could not have more difficult vision to correct - multi-focal contacts with both distance and near-sighted issues! Dr. Polsinelli gave me such a thorough exam and was relentless in making sure that my prescription was an absolute fit. It took a couple of trials - and him having to meet me at his office extra early one morning (how rare is that?) but he nailed it and I will be his patient forever - even though I live in Northern Marin! His expertise, use of advanced technology and caring service make all the difference. He and his staff are also quick, thorough and accommodating. And I have to say that parking was surprisingly easy each time I visited. Five stars. Enough said. read more

Best doctor visit ever. Super friendly doctor and staff, and a great frame selection.

I was recently diagnosed with iritis. I had seen my ophthalmologist seven times over the course of 3 & 1/2 weeks and I was not showing much improvement. I live up north but decided to make a trip to the bay to get a second opinion. I am so glad that I decided to see Dr. Polsinelli. First of all he is a very kind human being. The ophthalmologist that I had been seeing was not very good about explaining to me exactly what was going on with my eye, whether my vision would return, giving me a serious answer as to how long this might last, etc. Dr. Polsinelli was understanding about the fact that I was scared, not knowing for so long whether I would heal completely or not. He was very patient with me and explained what was going on and did a quick little test and was able to tell me that my vision would probably return completely. Also, he caught the fact that my ophthalmologist had prescribed me incorrect steroid eye drop usage (steroids are the the way you treat iritis). I highly recommend Dr. Polsinelli. He is a fantastic doctor and it seems like he really cares about his patients. read more

Due to my vision insurance changing, I had to leave my prior optometrist I had been with since I was a child and who I really liked. I was concerned looking at the list of approved optometrists with my new insurance. I decided to try Polsinelli Optometry after reading the great reviews here on Yelp. To date, I've already had a full eye exam, ordered new glasses, received the glasses and had to go back to get my lenses tweaked. Dr. Polsinelli is committed to ensuring the prescription in my lenses is as accurate as possible. Dr. Polsinelli is very friendly, thorough, knowledgeable, patient, and also has the latest technology for a very comprehensive eye exam. I'm not new to corrective lenses (glasses & contacts) - have had them for decades and I'm quite particular. He spent a lot of time adjusting my frames so it would rest on my ears the right way. I am thrilled to report that all the glowing, gushing, 5-star reviews here on Yelp are well deserved and accurate! I went to see Dr. Polsinelli for an eye exam and new reading glasses. From the first communication, making an appointment over the phone, through the eye exam, prescription, and ultimately the follow-up that Dr. Polsinelli did with my rheumatologist, the experience was fabulous! Not only is the doctor thourough, accurate, and personable, but his staff is simply top-notch! Everyone there and the entire experience that I had could not have been better. The doctor was also able to provide me with early detection of an eye problem that developed because of a medication I had been taking over a long period of time for a separate health condition. If he hadn't detected it, I could have had dire consequences from continuing to take the medication. His practice was able to detect the problem early thanks to their state-of-the-art eye exam equipment! Dr. Polsinelli also volunteered to contact my rheumatologist to explain my condition and even provided him with a report including my test output data results. I will be going to Dr. Polsinelli on an annual basis from now on and will actually look forward to my visits! Dr. Polsinelli is the best doctor I've been to - and I've been to many an eye doctor given I have a very complex and technical prescription (I have severe astigmatism in both of my eyes). I've been going to eye doctors since the age of 5, spending many hours and many dollars with them. Dr. Polsinelli is the best out of the 10+ eye doctors I've seen over the last 30 years. He takes the time to explain my condition and my options. I never feel rushed during his visits. In the last 2+ years I've been going to him, my eye sight has even improved and he's gotten me close to 20/20 vision with glasses - something I've never thought possible! On top of that, him and his staff have worked with my insurance company to get things covered I didn't even know was possible, which has saved on my wallet. His staff is great too - super friendly and helpful, always greeting you with a smile. If you live in SF and need an eye doctor, your best bet is to go with Dr. Polsinelli.
