Friendly staff and a good atmosphere, not loud and cramped like some places. The garlic knots were supreme, crisp outside and soft inside, very garlicky... as desired. However the calamari was overcooked and a tough chew. My calzone was large, but actually came with the incorrect ingredients. The waitress graciously had the kitchen make another with the correct toppings. It was quite nice... very cheesy with perfectly cooked bread. The Italian Trio was very nice as well. Smooth sauces and nicely prepared pastas. The carrot cake was nice for dessert, tall cake with thick cream cheese icing. The service was great. Oir server was very friendly and did not rush us. The bread was warm and we could add unlimited spices and cheese to the olive oil. The salads were fresh and super crisp. In a city with a lot of Italian/pizza restaurants I would not recommend Pomodoro as a place to visit. The bread sticks we got while waiting for food were as hard a brick. We ordered in a timely fashion, we ordered a salad and I decided to try carbonara for the first time (mistake!). The restaurant gave major Olive Garden vibes and was playing pop music pretty loudly which was off-putting. My pasta came out first and despite being told the salad was almost ready (how long does it take to make a salad?!) We had to ask another server where it was after a couple of minutes more of waiting. He came back with the dish and said they must of forgotten about it. Overall the food was pretty bad, the dressing for the salad was weird, the lettuce in the salad wasn't fresh and was bitter to taste and my carbonara drowning in sauce and sat like a brick on my stomach. After leaving I continued to feel sick to my stomach the rest of the night. Safe to say I will not be returning. read more

The mozzarella sticks were terrible hard and not even melted. Not only that, that isn't even the reason for this review. Roaches crawling across the table on the wall. When politely whispered to our waitress that was so sweet and in shock and pretty much sick to her stomach as well. But the manager never even came out to speak to us not a sorry kiss my foot nothing..... We did do the right thing and pay the rest of the bill after our sweet waitress took off the chicken parm. And we definitely told her not to! And we left her a nice tip for being the only one to care. But in the end we will never go back. Thank you for ruining our Valentine's weekend. I've been to Pomodoro twice and the food just isn't good enough to bring me back a third time. The first visit was a couple of weeks ago for lunch with a friend. Neither of us had ever been to Pomodoro, even though I live less than 5 minutes away from it, and she was in the mood for Italian. I was pleasantly surprised at how inviting the atmosphere was. Unfortunately, the service and food did not elicit the same pleasant reaction. Our server was clearly not enthusiastic about working. When we asked how one menu item compared to another, she mumbled that each was good. Umm, thanks for the help. I ordered a calzone and my friend chose the carbonara with a small side salad. The salad looked good, though overdressed. The complimentary bread they bring to the table is fine, if a little tough to chew. My calzone was huge and cheesy, but the texture and flavor of the dough left a lot to be desired. It was super crunchy and lacked that buttery pizza dough flavor I was craving. My friend enjoyed her carbonara. It was her first time trying carbonara, so she didn't have a basis of comparison but said that it was rich and had a pretty good flavor. This first visit would have been a 3 star review. Being that my first visit wasn't amazing, you may be asking why I returned so soon after. Well, I thought that maybe that first time was an outlier. After all, my friend had enjoyed her meal and I do like the atmosphere. I figured maybe I just ordered the wrong thing; suffice it to say, I figured wrong. On my second visit (this time with my husband in tow) the service was better but the food was worse. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and it was so soggy and bitter that I finished only a third. I don't expect eggplant parmesan to stay crispy for long given the cheese and sauce, but this was just a goopy, flavorless mess. Normally, I might have returned the entree and asked to try something else, but I had little confidence that I'd like anything else better. I wanted some pasta and if I'm being totally honest, I wanted lobster raviolis from carabas....so I was glad to see they had lobster raviolis on their menu. The young lady that was cashing me out was pleasant. I was a little disappointed to see that I would have to pay extra for salad tho! The sauce on the raviolis was good, not sure how to describe it other than it was unique! My husband and I go to Pomodoro's all the time, although with COVID we're mainly getting take-out now! We love their pizzas and usually get half pepperoni for him, half pineapple for me. They are always delicious. If you like sausage pizza, they slice the sausage like pepperoni--it is so good. Phone-in pizza orders are often ready quickly; about 15-20 minutes, even on a weekend night. Pre-COVID, we often met friends here for lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I really like getting the two-slice special with the house salad and house dressing. When I have a little more to spend, I'll indulge with the Chicken Summer or the Salmon Salad. A little on the expensive side, but always delicious. So Pomodoro's is great for causal lunches, but it's also nice enough for date night. We've gone here for Valentine's and been happy with the dinner menu and service. Huge portions; you can always take some home. My husband loves the chicken parm and gets it every time. I saw another reviewer say it's not a crunchy chicken parm; this is true, but it doesn't seem to bother him. I've gotten the salmon, chicken Marsala, chicken Alfredo, and a soup or two here. Their dessert selection is also wonderful--so many cakes to choose from! I honestly have never had a bad meal in dozens of visits. I was skeptical about this place because of the reviews. We started with two appetizers, Brushetta and Caprese. Both were tasteful and fresh. Next on we ordered our entrées, spinach manicotti and meatball sandwich. Both dishes were delicious and the sauce was tasty, rich and well rounded. The drink special was a martini and my partner ended up ordering a dirty martini and it was a well made cocktail. I definitely recommend this place and I will be going back. On a side note, our waitress was familiar with the lunch options and recommended a few items. As I ate my entree she recommended bread which I didn't know was an option. I attempt to go for a second time because I enjoyed the food. I called to order food person on the phone was extremely rude. Told me that you cannot additional toppings. But I had literally just ordered a kid pizza and added sausage for a pizza for the kids. The pizza picture below is a kids pizza that I paid to add extra toppings to. The way the lady who answered the and the manager handle the situation was extremely unprofessional. The girl hung up the phone on me and I was polite and calm the entire time. I had a poor catering experience which will unfortunately impact my decision to dine here again. I love leaving good reviews and this will be the first negative review I have ever left on a review site. Early on in the week I called to place my catering order. The conversation was pleasant and made me feel excited to celebrate a big graduation event. Due to being tied up, I scheduled for my friend to pick up the food. When she got there, the catering order wasn't made. My friend left and returned ~20 minutes later (making her late for the party) to retrieve the order. They placed the catered food in a flimsy box that was not put together properly. When she got to the event, all of the food fell out the bottom and covered her newly purchased white dress. She promptly returned to the restaurant to get a replacement order. When she returned, they charged her card a second time (although I had already paid for the first via phone). When I heard of the experience I promptly called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager. When on the phone with the manager, she agreed to cancel my friend's charge. However, that didn't solve the issue of my friend's ruined dress. The manager offered to refund my order and 5 days later, this still has not gone through. This was unfortunately the worst customer service I have experienced in a long-while and impacted my ability to be present at a family celebration. I would discourage anyone from trusting Pomodoro Italian Kitchen with a big event. read more

We arrived in 20, and it took an additional hour to get the food for pickup. We got home, pizza wasn't cooked all the way and the $14 they charged for Calamari was a joke. Eleven (11) rings. We have ordered from this restaurant multiple times. Some notes: the pasta is good. The bread that arrives with your food is a delight. We found a lady bug in our salad once. A live lady bug. But I'm not here to talk about lady bugs. I'm here to talk about the cannoli. This cannoli didn't look super fancy or tasty. It just looked like a cannoli. The filling was very smooth, not too unsweetened but not too too sweet. Very good crunch. Could have used more flavor in the chocolate department. "Fair Italian food, reasonable price" This would be at the 2-3 star border. We go here often for fundraisers for our kids' school. It's fair- not bad but nothing to write home about- maybe a small step below Olive Garden. Bread you get before the meal is OK- not especially good/ flavorful, but acceptable. Pizzas, calzones, and strombolis are pretty good. I tend to get other dishes like the lasagna, chicken or eggplant parmigianas, or "tour" feasts. Prices are fair but quantities are a little smaller than I'd like. I find the alfredo dishes here very boring/ bland, so I do not recommend those at all. The tomato dishes (note "Pomodoro" is Italian for tomato) are some better. I do like their pesto pasta's taste a lot, but I am a little surprised at how much it costs (~$9) for, literally, just a plate of pesto pasta (and not a huge portion either). Spaghetti is OK. Kids meals are pretty good for ours, but the kids ravioli dish is not recommended because you get something like 3 raviolis. May be enough for a 3 year old but certainly no bigger kid. Kids pizza much more acceptable in portion size (but costs $6). Personally, I'd prefer Durham Pizza Kitchen overall, but it's certainly OK, and there are coupons on their website (you can show them on your iPhone without printing). read more
