Lasagna with meat sauce and roll

This little gem in Durham is just off I-85 and very close to Duke University Hospital. The service is always outstanding. The decor is updated and clean and theme appropriate. Three stars here the menu is superb numerous options the food is just always lackluster and it makes me very very sad because the joint is very convenient for me. I stopped tonight because I was exhausted and gave it another shot.

In town on business. Place very cozy, was empty for Saturday afternoon. The service was just ok, server served the sparking water and didn't bother to open and pour. She didn't offer us the dinner rolls prior to dinner. Selected the salmon rústico with linguine , the sauce was very bland. The menu says grilled vegetables, but they were frozen boiled vegetables very runny on the plate. The side Caesar was not tasty, the Caesar dressing was placed on the side, not mixed and served as a Caesar salad. My husband ordered the gnocchi sub vodka sauce instead of pesto and added chicken. The chicken was tough, appeared to have been reheated and added to the plate. Returned and they brought it back with fresh grilled chicken. However, they charged additional for the vodka sauce. Should have at least offered us a discount for having to wait for the dish to come back. Not a place I would return.

I may have found my new favorite Italian cuisine in RDU! I reallly wanted some pasta the other night and this restaurant hit the mark! We ordered cocktails, lobster ravioli with jumbo shrimp, and veal marsala. That saffron sauce in the ravioli was perfection and very fresh. I even tried the veal and it was tender and well seasoned. They serve plenty of pasta combos, including a build your own option, pizza, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. They offer weekday lunch specials until 230p and daily specials, such as: $8 martinis on Tuesday and Friday APPY Hour from 2-6 on Monday and Saturday $5 mimosas on Sunday

I would actually give this place a 3.5. The ambiance is a 10/10-feels like an Olive Garden with the operatic Italian music and bread and butter appetizer. The service is friendly and prompt. The reason for the less stars is some of the dishes are basic and could be made at home. I do agree the lobster ravioli is delicious. However, I did feel like it lacked some vegetables. The chef's specialty noodle dish tasted like pizza toppings on lo mien. So, I would not order that specific dish. Overall, this is a cute, comfy restaurant with a nostalgic 90's vibe.

I was in the kitchen. Pretty nice. Saw the pizza get made. Ate the pizza. Nice workers too. Also they played spider man two which of course is fantastic. Also got two cokes. The place looked and smelled good. Would recommend. Idk how to pronounce it tho. Really good food. Would go again.

Service was really good- everybody was nice and able to answer any questions we had. The environment was nice as well, very cute like a nonna decorated it herself. The food itself was alright- a little bland but there was a lot of older folks there so I can see why. All the dishes were also real oily? We got the garlic knots, side salads, carbonara, chicken parm, and two fountain drinks which came out to be just under $70 before tip. All this being said I would definitely go again! Bring cash to make the bill a little cheaper too (no card service fee)

Supposed to be the Salmon dish off of the low carb section with sautéed "fresh" vegetables.

As much as I hate to do this.... And I really do! I went in to order a dinner to go. I ordered a lasagna and a Low Carb Salmon with sautéed "fresh" vegetables. I thought the bill was a little off but I was in a hurry. Paid and off I went home! Get home and darn if I was charged $20 for the salmon- it was supposed to be $13.00!! LOW CARB MENU! The salmon was as dry as the Sahara desert! And cold, And had NO SEASONING! It was supposed to have Italian seasoning! The veggies were soggy and cold. They were pretty much disgusting and not very good with the dry as hell salmon! And also included was SPAGHETTI w/ marinara sauce! Just what this diabetic needed! NOT! This disgusting meal cost me $20 and was supposed to be low carb- (located on the back page of their menu, marked $13.00) . I even told the waitress I wanted the low carb salmon ! The lasagna- that I got for my friend- was just ok. The bread they use to serve was good- this doughy piece of bread was as tough and dry as my salmon. This use to be my favorite restaurant. It use to be solid! I love the owner! I have been going for years!! I have even told him the food quality and quantity has gone down hill. But since Covid- this place has plummeted to the depths of "hell no, I don't wanna go!" no thank you- there's other Italian restaurants that are a lot better. Unfortunately, they aren't 5 miles down the street from my house. I more than likely won't be back- unless someone else is paying or I'm going to the bar to drink- Sorry. Makes me sad to write such a bad review- but unfortunately, this meal deserves a poor review.

I was a bit surprise when my total came to $18, as my salad was only $14 but I guess I should have paid attention that my bottle of soda was over $3. How much are the fountain drinks, I wonder? I found us a table inside since it was a bit hot that day (there is also plenty of seating outside AND inside if you go downstairs). The table and floor were messy but someone quickly came to clean it for me. They called our names over the loudspeaker and my best friend went to go get our food. She got the MotherClucker. Our food was REALLY good. If you like Cobb salad, you will definitely like this one. The chicken was pan seared perfectly, the vinaigrette was perfectly tangy and the bleu cheese was especially excellent. My friend's chicken sandwich has SO MUCH chicken salad on it. Impressive. There was so many neat items to see in the place. The murals were great, there were some cute retail spaces, a coffee bar up front, a bar downstairs, and ice cream outside! Unfortunately my bestie and I had too much to talk about so we didn't check it out as much as I otherwise wood. I would definitely try this place again!

And it takes A LOT for me to want to leave. Sat down and my glass had lip stains all over it. Our waitress was not attentive and I didn't even have time to ask for a new glass before she left us. Took another hour for our half sandwiches and small salad for the lunch specials to come out. Gave the wrong dressing and when asked to get the correct dressing the waitress was rude. Also, had to ask for the canned beer she forgot. The food is always good here but the cleanliness and service is hurting this establishment. I would really encourage them to take away automatic gratuity. Even though I always tip and typically do 20% most restaurants that add it you can count on getting bad service. I don't know if I'll keep giving this place more chances, which is a pity because I always recommend it to friends and family.

I had high hopes, but there is reason why fries made from fresh potatoes aren't widely offered at restaurants and it's mostly bc they have so much water content and easily come out soggy. And these came out exactly that way - soggy and limp. The chicken sandwich I ordered was a special, limited time offering, and it was also ok. It was advertised as having a slaw on top and that's a strong word for what was served. When I think slaw, I think robust, crunchy veggies with some vinegar bite and while I got a bit of that, it wasn't enough to balance out the fried, savoriness of the breaded chicken patty and bbq sauce. Service was friendly, but I wouldn't say they went above and beyond. I was eating alone at the bar, and I'm usually accustomed to more touch points than I got here, but it wasn't bad.
