Came in for a Baptism luncheon. Room was nicely set up. Food was good. Wine selection was lacking.

Pompeo's is a family-owned Italian restaurant serving great cuisine at reasonable prices. It's our favorite place in town.

While I can't speak for everyone else's experience, I can speak to my own, and I was extremely disappointed with the level of service we received. especially regarding food allergies and the zero percent effort put into finding additional information from the kitchen. When looking over the menu, I asked our waiter whether the pesto contained pine nuts because I have a tree nut allergy. He responded in an annoyed tone that he didn't know and simply told me not to order it. He didn't offer to ask the kitchen or try to find the answer, which was especially surprising considering he had just asked if anyone had questions about the menu. Since I still wanted to know if the pesto was safe, I walked up to the host stand where three employees were standing. I asked the same question, and one of the women immediately replied, "No, of course not. There are no nuts in pesto." When I asked if she was sure, she confidently said they never make it with nuts. It was clear from her reaction that she wasn't actually certain.... she simply wasn't familiar with the fact that traditional pesto often contains pine nuts. (Which is fine if you don't know but please, please ask instead of assuming!) At that point I mentioned to everyone that I carry an EpiPen because I have an allergy. Only then did she say, "Actually, let me ask the kitchen." She returned a moment later and informed me that yes, the pesto did in fact contain pine nuts. Food allergies are NOT preferences they can be life-threatening. It's alarming that staff members were willing to answer so confidently without actually verifying the information first or further more to not even have a care in the world to ask for me and told me to order something else? I hope Cafe Fiore takes this as an opportunity to better educate staff on food allergies and the importance of checking with the kitchen whenever there is any uncertainty. Instead of answering blindly. A simple question about ingredients should never be treated as an inconvenience, and guests should be able to trust that the information they're given is accurate when their health depends on it. It is not a big ask. Simply go ask the kitchen. Overall the food was just okay, the inside however seemed clean and well taken care of but I will not be returning. No meal is worth wondering whether the information you're being given is accurate. When a guest asks about an allergen, the only acceptable answer is one that has been verified with the kitchen.... not a guess. Someone else's life could depend on it.

Not like the in Manhattan , where they serve the mini martinis (always a pet peeve of mine). Service was excellent, we had Jasmin and a good support staff, a local kid. Food was better than expected. We live right outside the city, and we love our food, obsessively. For starters we had some salad, fried calamari, clams with chorizo in a nice broth and a special fried flourettes. All good, clams in broth was my pick for best app. For entrees we had veal chop, pork chop Milanese with salad, linguine with clams, linguine fra Diablo and 2 fish. Portions are huge, we should have shared. We ended with 1 desert to share a molten lava cake with some fancy ice cream. I'm not a big lava guy, but I loved the ice cream. Expresso were delicious too Price was very good. 468 plus tip, with 2 drinks each too. Place was packed and had a good vibe with a friendly atmosphere. I asked to meet the owner to thank her and tell her that we had a great time. Turns out she was 9ne of the runners out on 5he floor watching over everything. I think he4 name was Vicky. Just want to give some love to a small Italian restaurant whose killing it

Pasta Così is a Northern Italian-inspired eatery that opened in Branford, Connecticut in November…read more1992. It was founded by chef Billy DiLegge. After learning how to cook from his mother and grandmother, DiLegge immersed himself in all aspects of the restaurant business. From the 8th grade onward, he was cooking, washing dishes, serving, and working his way up to the front line of the kitchen. He attended the prestigious Culinary Institute of America where he graduated with high honors. In 1992, DiLegge opened Pasta Così (a play on the Italian expression "Basta Così", meaning "That's enough") at 3 Linden Avenue along the beautiful shoreline in the Indian Neck village section of Branford. He quickly gained a great reputation for his homemade pastas and fresh sauces. In 2007, DiLegge relocated the restaurant to its current location along the historic Branford Green. In addition to being a chef and restaurant owner, DiLegge is also a firefighter for the New Haven Fire Department. He has an excellent kitchen staff who run things at the restaurant when he can't be there. As one can imagine, DiLegge is happy to cook for his fellow firefighters when he's stationed at the firehouse. My wife and I recently had a lunch date at Pasta Così. We had a gift certificate that we had been meaning to use for a while. From the bar, I enjoyed a glass of "Limoncello Spritz" (Tito's, Punzone limoncello, Luminsoa prosecco & club soda served on ice w/ a wedge of lemon) while my wife had a "Cazcabel Blood Orange Marg" (Cazcabel Reposada tequila, fresh-squeezed blood orange juice & ripe margarita). They really hit the spot! For our entrees, we couldn't imagine getting anything but a pasta dish. I had the signature "Pasta Così" (penne, crumbled sausage, broccoli rabe, white beans, sun dried tomatoes & parmesan) and my wife had the "Famous Lobster Ravioli" (served with/ a roasted garlic and plum tomato sauce, fresh lobster meat). Both dishes were phenomenal! They tasted so fresh and homemade; we felt like we were served elevated dishes that were lovingly prepared by someone's Italian mother or grandmother. I would love to recreate the "Pasta Così" dish at home sometime. We had a lovely lunch at Pasta Così and would love to try more of Chef DiLegge's delicious creations again in the future!
