Simply put, they weren't on time, didn't show up when they said they would, and the pebble tec repair work they did was (and I'm being nice) terrible. It was uneven, splotches everywhere, didn't cover entire areas, and they used so much acid to clean up that pebbles are flaking off near the areas they worked on. They've ruined my pool. read more

When we moved to Phoenix, I tried to clean my own pool, and after months of failure, I decided that we needed a professional. Glad I did, because I never had to worry about it again! Pool Buddies provided us with many great services and on a few instances alerted me to issues or potential issues that needed to be take care of. In the two years we used them, we had only one hiccup and that was addressed by the owners in short order and to my satisfaction. It was a miscommunication on a service date, nothing dramatic. The bulk of our service was performed after we moved out of state so I can say with great confidence, that the technicians can be trusted to do what was needed. As a bonus, they almost always sent me a pic of the pool to show the result of their work. Booked these guys through our 2-10 Home Warranty. They called and set up an appointment for one week out to look at our non-working pump. The time was 1-5, they didn't show up or called. I tried to call them as did our warranty company with no response to either of us. I am over one week without a running pump thanks to Pool Buddies and also a day taken off with no pay. Pool Buddies serviced several of my properties through American Home Shield and I had the worst experience every time! I had to call them back multiple times due to the problem not being fixed and on one occasion since Pool Buddies refused to return, I had to escalate with American Home Shield who sent out a different pool company to confirm the problem in deed wasn't fixed. On at least two different occasions (2 different properties), it took almost a month to get my pool equipment issue resolved. The pool was unusable as well as incurring significant cost in extra chemicals just to keep the pool from being a disaster...not to mention the ridiculous amount of time and frustration dealing with this company. read more

The issue was difficult to diagnose and they made several trips to me over a 3 week period. They were very nice and polite on every visit, even when we both got frustrated at the pool failure. I have weekly pool service where the pool guy Nick comes around, but has never brushed the sides of the pool and the floor. Don't ever use this company, the owner has no integrity. We are part of a small gated community and one of their employees bashed in our gate, and a neighbor witnessed it. The owner admitted their fault, they agreed to pay for the damage, we fixed the gate and after months of trying to collect, they never followed through on their agreement, sticking us with the cost. We recently moved back into our home after renting it out for a few years and we came back to a swimming pool that was not cared for. It was a mess! I wasn't sure who to call and searched Yelp for companies with positive reviews. I found Pool Buddies and left a message. Robert called me back within a few hours and after telling him we thought the pool pump wasn't working and thinking it needed replaced, he said it sounded more like a filter issue and sent someone out within a few days. Sure enough it was the filters were completely clogged by the algae and Richard was able to get it all cleared up, pump running smoothly and pool swimmable again!! Horrible customer service. I was treated TERRIBLY today by an employee, who i think is a family member of the owner(s). My family has spent a lot of money on our pool at Buddies the 3 last years that we have been living up here and i am in shock at how i was treated today, especially after i was sold what looked like used parts, was told a new part would be here by a certain date and time and that i didnt need to call ahead of time before i drove all the way there to pick it up...and it arrived 2 days later, after multiple attempts to get some communication about what was going on and when it would be there....now i have a green pool that i will need to buy more chemicals to balance, and i was supposed to have a pool party tomorrow. So why i was spoken to like i was, and was ignored and eye rolled and walked away from while nicely trying to explain the situation, is beyond me. My husband owns a business and would NEVER treat a customer the way i was treated today....all over a $35 kit/part. I feel like i should have been given my money back AND given the new parts since i was given the run around and will now have to spend more time and money getting my pool balanced....not to mention it could have damaged my motor. Id rather spend more money and go to a bigger name store that i know will treat me with respect as a customer. read more

I found Pool Buddies thru American Home Shield when my spa heater quit. When they arrived, I was very impressed when speaking with Richard. He seemed to know what he was talking about. So much so that I also had him clean the various pool and spa filters. He did a very excellent job on both. Plus, when AMS approved the new spa heater they came back and put it in and it now works great. Pool Buddies did a wonderful job. Very professional and honest. What more do you need. Excellent company and customer service from Robert too. I will be using them again and referring them as well. read more

This company apparently has some sort of reciprocal agreement with Veteran's Pool Service. I contracted service with Robert Maxson on 4/16/19. I wanted them to service a pool at a rental property until it sold. He took my CC info and billed me for the 1st month. He advised at the end of the month, if I haven't canceled service, they would bill me again for the following month and so on. I agreed. The problem is that I was billed again on April 26th. I called Veteran Pool service twice who did the billing and got no return call. I also called Pool Buddies a couple of times since they did the work & apparently have a business relationship. I have since been billed again on 5/2/19. I finally got a call back on the 2nd after I left a nasty voice mail at Pool Buddies. I was told they didn't know why I had been billed twice more before payment was due but would look into it and get it corrected. That still hasn't happened. I would suggest staying away from either of these companies. I'm angrier at Veteran's Pool Service but they have no YELP presence that I could find and don't seem to have registered with the Better Business Bureau. My next step is with the registrar of contractors against VPS and then a litigious step even if it costs me more to sue than whatever recovery remedy may be available. read more
