As a company Pool Kings rock! Not only did they get here a day after my calling to inquire about purchase and install a new pool filter, the total cost with labor and new plumbing was $150 less than the retail price of the filter alone on Leslie's website. Had I only thought of them two days before when my 14 year old pump went kaput (whose replacement I bought at Leslie's since no one else could deliver until May 11). In any case, $300 saved on cartridges because they come with the filter (duh!!!) and $500 saved on filter itself, plus no hassle of having to install and replumb myself. To boot the serviceman Mike even programmed the variable speeds on my new pump for me! Now that's service!!! Only 4 hours a day on max (cleaning) speed plus 6-8 hours of low (skim) speed, compared to 10 hours full speed (since it's an hour a day per 10 degrees here in the Valley of the Sun) should save me a bundle on electricity this summer. While an expense I didn't need, especially when working at 50% hours it's worth the peace of mind as the brutal Phoenix summer nears. I've used Pool Kings since I bought my house four years ago for consultations, pool draining and occasional maintenance. The customer service (huge shout out to Melissa!) has always been top notch and they always come through in a jam. Highly recommend! read more

I paid this company $1445.21 to install a new pool pump at my rental house. One week after they allege they completed their job the pool remains unable to be used due to the debris that is still at the bottom of the pool despite the fact that they assured us the pool would be like new when it was all over. Pool Kings initially stated that the job would cost $1400. In their final invoice they suggested they were able to do the job for less than the initial estimate. Curious since $1445 is more than $1400. Pool Kings' estimate also failed to include the cost of the electrical work that would need to be done for the pump to work. This was an extra $350 on top of the $1445.21. They also left the old pump for us to dispose ourselves. When questioned about the debris, Pool Kings simply states that the debris at the bottom of pool is not their concern and once they installed their pump, their job was done despite fact there was no electricity to the pump. Instead, they gave us name to an electrician to come out and get electricity to the pump. Even after electrician came out there was no follow up to see whether the pump was working until a review was posted online. After posting my initial review, the owner immediately called me which was very much appreciated and they agreed to come out and look at the pool and stated they would send me pictures since I do not live at this house. To my surprise, I received a call two days later stating they had been by the house yet I received no pictures like was promised. She assured me they had done everything that was stated in their estimate and the pump was working. I am not sure how they can determine their pump is working when there is still so much debris at bottom of pool but I went with it. She stated her rep had gone above and beyond by unclogging the vacuum. I then received an email attacking me when I questioned why I had not received the pictures that were promised me. In the email, pool kings defends themselves stating my ex (not payor or homeowner) even offered to use them for his pool service and was happy to go down to the bottom of the pool and clean out the debris for me. I then drove from phoenix to the house in chandler to find the same debris at the bottom of the pool that was there when I initially called. My husband and I had just purchased a home with a pool and signed up for "pool school" with Pool Kings for $100. It was comparable with the Leslie's Pool Supply prices and we wanted to support local business. The pre-appt. service was fantastic...prompt, clear, helpful and friendly. Once the pool tech arrived for our session, it felt incredibly rushed. He explained our pool parts to us verbally but it was so quick for first-timers. There were no handouts for weekly pool maintenance and some of the information he provided us at the beginning session contradicted info at the end of the session (for example, whether or not to run the pool during the brushing, addition of chemicals, etc). It would have been quite helpful to be given a list of steps or at least the patience to help us construct one while he was there. We also purchased a cleaner through them, knowing that there was a mail-in rebate involved. He dumped the entire box out on our patio, papers, a number of hoses, etc. and never picked up after himself. He did install this for us (helpful!) and provide us with the rebate form but never explained where our missing warranty sheet was., which was necessary for the rebate. No response when we reached out via phone and email, either. We saw the same cleaner at Leslie's later that week for $40 cheaper, post-rebate. Our experience was still considered "okay" until our pool began turning green a month later even with our devout weekly attention. We took a water sample to Leslie's and they were able to tell us so much more information about our pool (how many gallons of water it hold..which affects your chemicals, when it was last drained, how much of which chemicals were needed, etc). The pool tech from Pool Kings didn't even mention that we needed pool shock on a weekly basis, hence, the green hue (start of algae). We will now go to Leslie's moving forward. Our local shop on Alma School has great service and deals. We will not use Pool Kings again nor would we recommend for new pool owners, although experience with a different tech may be better. read more

My weekly pool service called me to suggest that I replace my sand filter. They sent a quote for both sand and cartridge. The price seemed quite high so I decided to get another quote. Pool Kings installed a new sand filter for me. Mike discussed the relative cost / benefit of sand vs cartridge and saved me over $600! Melissa was a pleasure; she coordinated the sand and filter delivery to arrive a day ahead of installation. Melissa called me the morning of the installation to give me a precise time. The install was quick and professional. I asked them to spend extra time to explain the operation and maintenance of my pool. They were fantastic! I live in Scottsdale so they won't service my pool on a regular basis but I will call for any repairs! read more

We've had Pool Kings out several times for issues with our old Paddock Pool Pump & Filter. The filter & pump were about 12 years old, so my wife & I had them replace both. Tech was on time and knowledgable and went the extra mile with the installation. Removed the old pump & filter & even painted the pipes to match the pump. I originally asked them their price to replace my current pool heater with a new unit (including installation). Upon receiving the quote I did my research and was able to find the heater through three different reputable websites for significantly cheaper. I informed them that the heater was significantly cheaper online and asked 1. If they could come down on their price or 2. if they would install a unit purchased online. They informed me they would install purchased online but that the installation price originally quoted would go up at least $125 (possibly more once they saw my backyard). I was not happy about paying extra to have the EXACT same work performed but given they would no longer be making the profit on the unit and there is some potential risk installing someone else's unit I decided to proceed with getting a firm installation price. They requested to set up a time to come out to my house to give me a firm quote on installation. I agreed and also offered to send pictures of my backyard to help them get a better feel for the installation. I sent pictures of the pool, pool equipment, heater, etc. and informed them the blower went out on my old unit and I was tired of the repairs. The new unit is smaller than the old unit and should fit in the same location without a problem. A few days after reviewing the pictures, they sent me an e-mail informing me they would not install a unit that wasn't purchased through them. REMINDER: they had already sent me an e-mail agreeing to install a unit not purchased through them for an additional fee! I was very upfront and honest with them and they decided to go back on their word. To me, a company's word is very important and after this experience I do not believe this company can be trusted. read more

The gentleman that helped me was very friendly and I didn't feel like he took advantage of the fact that I have no clue what I am doing with my pool. Pool Kings were awesome when we needed some plumbing done on our pool. There was apparently a small leak found in a home inspection and Pool Kings came out right away to take care of it. They were prompt and reasonably priced. They make it easy to pay with online payments as well. I also had them replace a pool pump almost 2 years ago which was also a great experience. I am normally very cautious about giving reviews on any site that is below average. I moved into a home in Chandler and needed someone to take care of my pool. I hired Pool Kings to do weekly service and agreed to have them start with draining and refilling the pool. The weekly maintenance was done well. When winter approached, I asked for advice about pump operation. I was worried about water freezing in the pipes as we were seeing near freezing temps. Their tech told me "this is Arizona, freezing pipes don't happen here." As you could probably guess, the pipes froze and the pump ran dry and burned up the internals. I had to replace the pump to the tune of $1200. After they replaced the pump, my remote for my pool lights and water feature stopped working. They told me that they weren't working in the fuse box where the sensors were (I saw the tech with the box open). I was willing to let bygones be bygones, but the last straw was when the tech left the gate to our pool fence open. I have two small children that play out there everyday and this I found totally unacceptable. If you use them, be very explicit about your expectations. read more
