    The fabulous decor.

I recently visited Los Angeles, and made eating as much Thai food as possible one of my top priorities. I live in New Orleans; we don't have a lot of edible or authentic Thai food. My friend and I popped in on the late side. I was immediately charmed by the sort of rundown aesthetic, full of enough plants to make one feel like they were eating at the edge of a jungle. But nothing prepared me for the graffiti and crayon etchings all over the wall. Some of it was quite amusing. I ate another Thai restaurants during my stay, but none compared to the heat or authenticity of the dish I had here. They could only accommodate certain dishes for strict vegetarians like myself, so I had a pumpkin and asparagus dish made extra spicy. It was absolutely sumptuous, and my mouth was on fire. We also split some sort of dumplings which were good. But I often find that appetizers are better than entrees at Thai restaurants. That was not the case here. Our waiter was dressed kind of formally and was very funny. I wouldn't want to come here if it was busy. We had the whole place to ourselves. It's quite tiny. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.

Love Poom Thai! It's a little cozy family owned restaurant with delicious thai food. I got their panang curry with chicken, which I'd definitely recommend. Our server, Poom, was super attentive and lovely! Food came out super quick

Love the ambiance this place brought ! All the plants inside the restaurant were beautiful! I only have it 3 stars because we were not able to dine in due to how small it was, and not many tables. Our order took about 30-40 min we opted for take out since it was already late. Noodles were tasty and so was the fried rice. It was missing a little seasoning. And the chicken satay was a little dry and hard but the peanut sauce was good! Maybe it would be different if it was fresh and eaten at the restaurant. Over all vibes were cute there is return and try to dine at the restaurant.

Tom yum koong is my family's favorite comfort food. This restaurant captures that feeling perfectly. Open late with a warm, homey ambience, it's a haven--especially for parachute kids craving comfort in moments of homesickness. They also love and welcome dogs. Poom is very nice and friendly-overall an awesome person.

I heart Poom Thai. As a Lao person, Poom's Thai food reminds me of home on the coldest nights where nothing but a flavorful soup from here can warm me up. Every single dish is truly authentic to Thai cuisine and is cooked to perfection. The spice levels are on par with how Thai & Lao people love our spiciness, sometimes a little spicier than I'm normally used to. The food does not take long at all to be served, usually within 10 minutes. The service here is impeccable. Poom caters to everyone and is the sweetest. If you don't know what you want, or are new to Thai cuisine, he'll give you the rundown of what to expect and what he'll suggest. Or, if you already know what you want, Poom is more than happy to strike a conversation with you on any topic. He truly cares about his customers as much as he cares the quality of his food he serves. The ambiance of this restaurant is quite cozy. It is rather small, but offers for an intimate experience--almost as if you are eating from the comfort of your own home. I personally love all of the greenery inside of the restaurant, I have a green thumb myself. This spot is the perfect place to be if you want a nice quiet spot to have conversations and catch up with friends without shouting over other people.

_+* BEST THAI SPOT IN SANTA MONICA! *+_ I highly recommend Poom Thai as the owners are all really sweet and very accommodating to your requests. Upon walking in, we were immediately sat down. I learned that the restaurant was named after the owner's son, Poom, and Poom was serving my party my first time there! Poom asked us how our day was and recommended us some menu items and some of his favorites. He also cooks the food sometimes, so I really admire all that he does for his customers! The ambiance is really chill and has earthy vibes since the place is covered in plants, so it's like your typical asian restaurant. It's not usually that busy late at night, so you'll always get seating. There's also writings on the wall of people complimenting Poom Thai, so I found that to be really awesome! Seats were able to accommodate my party of 5 and all of the tables and floors are clean. Pad Se-ew - 5/5. Hands down one of the best Pad Se-ews I've had, and I will always come back to eat it again. The portions are really generous for the price, and you can split it amongst two people. The broccoli and noodles were nicely cooked and not too salty and the chicken was really juicy and not dry at all! I will have to order this again once I come back. One person from my party also ordered the creek puffs and said they were delicious, so I will try that next time as well :-) Overall, I can't recommend enough! You have to try it if you're in the area!

This is my first time visiting Poom Thai. I was looking for late-nite dine in option around Santa Monica. I called ahead of time to check-in and found out they would be open past 10PM. Nice! When we arrived, we were greeted by Poom. He cleared some tables for us and handed us a few menus. My boyfriend and I were looking for sharable dishes. We ordered the 'Kai Kua' and Pineapple Fried Rice with Tofu as protein. Talk about great flavor combinations! I love the Tofu was crispy: a nice texture that goes well with the freshly fried rice. I don't recall if I've ever eaten Kai Kua before (Flat Noodles w/ Chicken & Soybean), but very much enjoyed it. I admire all of the decorations as well. Many fans of the restaurant send cards, letters, photos with warm messages and appreciation for the business & presence. It's nice to see the community engaging in a sweet, positive way. This is definitely a beloved local spot and I'm happy we visited. Big respect to the Chef holding down all of those pick-up orders. If you're ever on this side of town looking for a place that offers flavor and comfort, try Poom Thai!

The food was delicious!! We ordered the pad thai, chicken satay, and chicken yellow curry! Our favorite dish was the chicken yellow curry. The moment it hit my mouth, my eyes widened, and I wanted to eat more. It was like having a taste of heaven. The ambience of the restaurant was very welcoming and unique! I loved how the walls were filled with the memories of the customers who came through. Each person left their own mark on the restaurant, and will come back many times in the future. Lastly, the service was very kind and helpful. They got our order super fast and were always willing to get what we needed. I never had to call them over or ask for something, because they would already be waiting for me. Overall, I would come again to eat here! Super yummy and a great time! :))

When I first entered the restaurant, I immediately noticed that the ambiance was very relaxed and wholesome, as it was decorated in various plants. Walking in was like an adventure in itself, and my group was able to get seating immediately. One of their walls is also covered in little notes dedicated to the owners, and a lot of them also complimented his work! The overall place was very clean and welcoming. The owners were also very sweet and accommodating! The restaurant was named after the owner's son, Poom, and he personally took our order, recommended us things on the menu, and exchanged greetings with us in general. It was my first time there and I thought it was really sweet how he was able to personally cook for us as well! I ordered the Pad Se-ew, and it was really good. The portion was generous, definitely shareable (between two teenage girls at least). The noodles were well done and the overall flavor was perfectly seasoned between the meat and broccoli. Overall a very good local business that you should definitely check out!

I went to Poom Thai for dinner with friends, and I won't lie, I actually had a really nice time. To start off, the food was really amazing! I had the Panang curry with rice and it was genuinely the best curry that I've ever had. It arrived beautifully plated and was perfectly balanced. It was creamy but not overly heavy. The chicken was tender and cooked just right. The overall blend of the curry was satisfying and easily became one of my favorite dishes of the restaurant. I also really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. I also really liked the interior too. It was simple yet charming. We were surrounded by so much greenery and plants. It was really nice to see, especially since Los Angeles is known to be a concrete jungle. Being able to eat with so many plants surrounding me felt and reminded me of home. I also loved looking at all the writing and pictures on the wall from past customers. It made it feel more connected to the restaurant, which was very comforting. It felt like home. The service was also fantastic! The staff is friendly and attentive. And they're even eager to make recommendations if you're unsure on what to order. I was actually having a really hard time deciding what to have since it was my very first visit and Poom's. But the staff approached me and were actually the ones who helped me out by deciding on getting the Panang curry. Thank you staff for being very welcoming and helping me out! Overall, my visit to Poom's was fantastic and I will definitely come back for more!

I stumbled upon this place while walking by, and something about its energy just stuck with me. It felt warm, inviting, and full of character. Later, I looked up reviews and saw that it was a family-owned restaurant, which I love. One review especially caught my attention--it talked about a customer seeing the family's son grow up in the restaurant, from being a little kid to graduating college. That sense of history and connection made me even more excited to visit. When I finally came in, the atmosphere was unlike anything else. The space is filled with lush greenery, handwritten messages covering the walls, and little personal touches that make it feel like a home rather than just a restaurant. There's an undeniable charm--something that chain restaurants could never replicate. The family is originally from Bangkok, and their food is inspired by authentic Bangkok flavors. As a vegan, I knew the menu wasn't originally designed for plant-based eaters, but they went above and beyond to accommodate me. They made a vegan Pad See Ew without fish sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. The noodles were perfectly chewy, the tofu had great texture, and the flavors were rich and balanced. I genuinely appreciated the care they took in making sure the dish still had depth and quality. While eating, I was chatting with one of the employees, mentioning how much I loved that review about the family's son growing up here. Then, in the most full-circle moment, I found out I was actually talking to him! His name is Poom, and it turns out the restaurant is named after him. He's all grown up now, graduated from UCLA with a degree in microbiology, and he's incredibly kind. We ended up having an awesome conversation about DNA and even brainstormed ideas about making the world more eco-friendly. It's rare to find a place with so much heart, history, and community. This isn't just a restaurant--it's a living story, a space where people connect, and where food is made with love. If you're looking for a unique, welcoming spot with amazing food and even better people, you need to check this place out. I'll definitely be back! (Also, huge shoutout to Poom--you're basically a local legend!)

Their menu extends beyond what you'd find in most typical Thai restaurants, encouraging you to try a variety of items. Our group shared a few of their staple dishes. We started with the Green Papaya Salad ($14) which was a refreshing, tangy introduction to the rest of the meal. Then came the Khao Soi ($19) and its wonderful curry-based noodles that was very satisfying. We asked for some small bowls to share with each other. The next dish we tried was their Thai Fried Chicken ($20), made from lion's mane mushrooms, battered and deep fried. These tasted good but was a bit too greasy for my taste. I'd say pass on these unless you really want something fried on the table. Finally, we had their Beet Dyed Noodles ($16) and this was my favorite of our dishes. The noodles were chewy and packed with umami that I wanted more. Dishes were a decent portion size and probably could've been a bit more given the price point, but the quality was certainly there in our food. Give this place a try if you're in the mood to try some fully plant-based goodness.

Service throughout the meal was excellent. Attentive without hovering, and the pacing was spot on. I never felt rushed, which is rare when you're clearly on a clock. For my appetizer, I went with the Phuket wings. As someone who takes wings seriously, I can say these stood out. Crispy, flavorful, and coated in a Southern Thai curry sauce I hadn't experienced before. Rich, slightly sweet, with a depth that kept me going back for "just one more." For the main, I took the server's recommendation and ordered the Thai beef salad to balance things out. Smart call. The dressing leaned creamier than what I usually expect, but it worked. It is charming and small with both indoor and outdoor seating. This whole corridor is so charming and neighborhood friendly. The café itself was bright, chic, and cozy. We ordered the veggie rolls and the royal shrimp as our appetizers. They have a pretty extensive drink menu for a Thai restaurant, so I ordered the lychee milk tea and my friend ordered the house Thai iced tea. I got the Creamy Tom Kha Chicken Noodle soup with a side of brown rice, my friend ordered the Yellow Curry, and my other friend ordered the Soft Shell Crab Curry. Everything tasted really good. Nothing was too spicy, especially my dish -which I asked to be medium spicy- and my friend who can't do spicy foods was able to eat it too. The pricing was commensurate with the quality, locale, and atmosphere. I'm knocking off one star because it took a long time for someone to take our orders. I think they were waiting until our entire table was seated, but they could have at least taken our drink and appetizer orders while we waited for our third person to join us. But after that initial hiccup, Service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely come here again if we are in the area!
